- Welcome to Unguided, where I'm trying to complete every quest in old school runescape without using a guide, wiki or plugins. I'll only be using my limited knowledge and in-game learnings. Full rules below.

RULES
- No use of OSRS wiki (or any equivalent) for anything - this includes looking up item spawns, quest guides, boss guides, anything
- No use of any other quest helper sites
- No use of quest helper plugin
- Essentially no use of any outside-game assistance
CAVEATS
- I love OSRS TH-cam, I might inadvertently learn something I don't know by watching my favourite content creators, but I'm not going to stop watching them so that's just a risk I'm willing to take + it's unlikely going to be relevant for me
- I may use some QoL plugins, but only a few. Loot tracker to prove grinds, ground items so I don't miss drops (and to add cool loot beams lol) and left click to use bones. Nothing that will give me info I didn't previously have
- I'm going to try and avoid any spoiler comments. If you can, please try not to help me if there's an episode where I'm stuck on something. I appreciate the sentiment but telling me an item spawn or quest step could spoil the fun :)

The problem with this series is that most probably nothing can top it. It's that good.
It's just such a flex, it's what if I played the game as the developers designed it and minimal background knowledge from my long forgotten youth. It's like if someone did a catch all pokemon run of pokemon emerald, how does the player figure out Milotic without guides.

@@MeanderingSlacker Funnily enough, your Milotic example is something I actually did as a 10 year old. Through absolutely nothing but sheer luck and chance, not knowing Milotic even existed or what I was doing, I somehow acquired it and remember it distinctly as a core memory, being on my DS in the back of my parents' car on a long car journey for a summer holiday. Not only was it without a guide, but i was so utterly clueless about what I'd done that I ending up releasing it not long after acquiring it because, as a 10 year old, I "thought Milotic looked girly", and didn't want to own it 😂😂 It wasn't until many years later that I even knew the extent of what I'd done, but it is hilarious to think back on.

i am semi convinced he knew that legends quest was soon for unguided and said that because the videos are like a couple weeks appart and settled watches and has commented on unguided.
Started watching this series for background noise to sleep to. Now glued to my screen for 3 hours straight watching this man meander and question his life decisions
Amazing stuff - As a spacebar holder and quest helper skipper, I realize this is actually a great puzzle game and I've been playing wrong
The quests really are good. People do NOT appreciate just how good they are...well most of them anyway. People love to hate Small Favor...but that's basically how a lot of other quests work in other games...and lo and behold, it's not fun.
@@feldamar2 Even then, One Small Favour at least has fun dialogue to go with how ridiculous the idea of the quest is, and feels so much more OSRS. They KNOW what they're doing and are trying to make it amusing at the same time.
I used to be the equivalent of that back on RS2, just using runeHQ for everything and not bothering to pay attention to what was happening. Then I decided to do While Guthix Sleeps blind. Never went back, even if a few quests really deserve to be skipped (hi Ratcatchers).
@@andrethyst905 Oh yes. It's absolutely making fun of this kind of quest the whole way through. This game gets to do that because it's quests are GOOD.
Came to say that I enjoy a fair few OSRS creators and while I appreciate their flair and production value, like J1mmy’s By Release, that series never quite scratched the itch I had for wanting to experience quests in a way that felt similar to playing the game myself. Unguided has undisputedly sorted that out for me.
Now I’m going back over to #7 to keep watching, see you when I catch up 👋
I love how you can tell just how much time he spends between pieces of the puzzle by how many times he says "Oh, my cat's about to die" 😄
Rewatching the whole thing back I 100% can still understand why someone would think they’d need all 4 of the powered orbs for the door. In the context of the series, it’s hilarious that you ended up getting 66 Magic anyway, which would’ve let you into the Mages Guild that you checked first for Soul Runes

So many quests I want to see... Mostly because I have no idea how he is gonna manage to do them, but I trust he will in the end.
I watch both you and settled and was VERY confused when I heard him in the intro. lol

this series is so much better than anyone just recounting runescape lore, because you have to actually immerse yourself and live the lore

I recently did Legend's quest and I was yelling at the screen the whole time, thanks Alien Food, I love engaging with content in this way :)

What a ride this series is, I absolutely love it. I hope you'll continue the series after you obtain the quest cape and explore everything else gielinor has to offer with these rules! Not sure how much pvm knowledge you have but would be a blast seeing you figure that stuff out without any guides...

Funny that I got sent this series, I did something just like it a bit ago though I did have to cheat at certain points. I wrote text guides for every step and boy howdy was that absolutely necessary, the amount of dialogue in this game that gets said once and never again is really rough when questing blind.
Reading all of the lore was super fun and interesting and made me appreciate all the little details and fun stuff in the quests I normally skip. All the old 2003-2004 quests can go die in a hole though for how vague they are sometimes.
For this quest I figured out how to go through the door with the orb and got super confused when I couldn't proceed, it took hours before I finally focused on the previous room.

For anyone wondering about the dragon part, the minimap creates the shape of a dragon’s head and you’re meant to put the heart in the “eye”

it's easy enough to see in hindsight - I would have taken 10x longer than you to do the quest - but it's funny looking back on the signs that were there.
