settled watched me do Tai Bwo Wannai Trio the other day on an alt and we concluded that any pre-2007 quest taking place in Karamja was made as rage bait. I wish they still had the old "quest guides" on the official RS website since it would basically give players way better hints than the quest log would, but still doesn't justify this damn quest design lmao, it's a miracle you've gotten this far
It’s so true why did they literally make all the quests on this island so horrific. Was it some sort of testing area they ended up turning into a real location Love your stuff bro thanks for the comment
runescape classic era quests are just old and crusty, the ones that havent been updated anyway, also you gotta remember the game was a lot smaller back then so wouldve been easier to figure things out/less things to try/places to search, also most of the players back then (not to mention the people who made the game) were point & click adventure and rpg nerds who played stuff like DnD, monkey island etc, mainly adults coz most kids/teens didnt have a PC and internet when RSC was around and they were untainted by wikis and plugins and used to obscure puzzles and shit, they had the brain for this kind of stuff already is what im trying to say, when we came along with our tiny kid brains in rs2 most of this stuff went right over our heads and now the games evolved outside of itself to the point where we dont even see the need to update these quests because theres so much info out there that just playing the game and not having a wiki open on a second monitor or using a quest plugin is seen as you being dumb for not using those resources rather than the game/quest design being dumb in the first place
I think the quests are exactly as difficult as they should be. Fucking love getting stuck on some inane riddle and solving it. In fact, it's what I don't love about some of the recent quests where it feels like more of the difficulty comes from the boss, than the riddles. The riddles are so good in older quests. The fact that they take some figuring out is what makes them fun.
Omg those quest guides I remember!!! And it was always funny how they were only made available 1 week after release and they usually had these funny flavor texts to describe why the hints were not there yet, like being on fire or I believe a pirate quest had "the ship carrying the hints was sunk by pirates, we're currently trying to fish them up" as flavour text for example. They were always quest related puns and I miss those a little now :')
A lot of quests are harder than they were on release though, since the game has changed since when they were released. Unguided's trouble with Family Crest is a great example.
its really only for quests I feel like most of them were designed around players collaborating and giving each other hints on how to beat them in-game chat, but people don't talk in there like they did in 2006 plus osrs is built off adventure games so a lot of the time they use batshit adventure game puzzle logic which was always infamous for not making sense
I've seen a lot of comments on older videos like "Dude's obviously reading guides and faking it." and I think this debunks that. No one would ever think to pretend to struggle that long on the door, ignoring the massive hint, if they were faking it.
I was so confused about the Curse part, never remember having to do that when doing this quest, but now reading the comments it looks like you discovered a forgotten mechanic of this quest. Just more reasons why this series is so special
The curse spell actually working is exactly the kind of batshit insane moments of quest logic that I watch this series for. Had no fucking idea you could even do that, it's not even on the wiki, and it's not even necessary or helpful for the quest, yet you found it. Missing the extremely obvious charge orb makes this feel so real too, it's so easy to tunnel vision and miss the solution in plain sight. Love this series, looking forward to the 12 part legend's quest series
I mean it makes sense "something that doesn't harm will weaken his control" but that it only works when the demon has had its control wrested away by Ungudalu makes it an entirely hidden dialogue. Makes me wanna ask Mod Ash what the triggers for it are
I'm so glad you got baited by the curse/weaken/confuse thing too. That got me good, and I'm pretty sure nobody who uses guides would know about it, because it serves LITERALLY no purpose other than to fuck with players who try to engage with the game as intended. Edit: Holy cow I commented too soon. I can't believe that actually does something. I literally gave up and lucked into the book.
@@BioMasterZap I tried every non-damaging spell I had access to in every order with no success, so I think it was the very specific sequence and timing that did it here.
I think that was the intended way to do it. However, given the way the quest was coded, there likely wasn't any specific progression checks to "force" you to do it and you can literally just skip that step, and get into the cave section right away.
Man, legend’s quest is such a relic of its time where “difficulty” equated to tedium and vagueness. Hopefully no other questline has a sequel where this concept is pushed to its limit!
I think part of it is it's a quest by Mod Tytn, and he was like this in his quests. Shilo Village, Jungle Potion, Tourist Trap, Nature Spirit, OSF. All by Tytn, he's got a distinct love for item based puzzles it seems.
Going to the bank and searching "jade" had my laughing until it brought tears to my eyes. This is my favorite Runescape series, please keep up the good work!

33:15 You've been trying to open the door for hours and you think that the Bookcase is what the elders used to block off the entrance?!?!?! Its the DOOR!
Agreed, I think they should actually hire people to play test their old quest. It's not just old it's also British, some riddles or dialog does not come across the same to the rest of the world.
@@AzureXenon Something you should consider is that no one is going to vote against fixing up quest log text. 99% of the players use runelite to just run through the quests anyway. Adding new better content only makes the old content show its age in how poorly they were implemented. No mmo should only focus on new content, and not adjust old content to work with current standards. And thankfully the OSRS team is looking at old content and fixing it up or adjusting it for QoL improvements, sadly it is the stubborn "My Nostalgia" players that hold them back so much. I'm not talking about localizing the game to japanese either. Its a British game, and the old quests and dialogue really show. I'm talking about adjusting certain phrases or words to work for generalized english where they currently do not, to prevent confusiing players during things like puzzles or riddles. I'm going through the quests with my partner, no runelite no guides. I give hints when we are absolutely stumped, and in some cases the solution to a riddle is so far detached from the riddle itself. Gielenor isn't a small grid spanning from Varrock to Lumbridge to Falador anymore, and it has so many extra items since then that serve only to do more guesswork at what you are actually meant to use on a puzzle. So why are you advocating against improvements in quest dialogue or quest log? Or are you not opposed to these changes but think you know what Jagex does and does not care about? Or are you the type that think quests may as well not have dialogue at all because you just click the blue text options and highlighted items on your screen until a quest complete screen gives you your unlocks?
'This game is testing me and I will win' is possibly the most OSRS quote that ever existed. Also, love how you actually 'solved' the 'curse riddle' (though slightly bruteforced, you have to cast the spells in order of how they're mentioned per Day)! I've never seen someone do that :-).
The whole curse thing is pretty incredible, from the crowdsourcing I've seen it doesn't seem like anyone since it's been tracked has encountered it before from what I have access to! I wouldn't be surprised if a stage I just have a 'No step 9 encountered' note on in Quest Helper turns out to be doing this. Loving the series also, you've done an incredible job showing off both the joys, and pains, of questing, and really throws me back to first starting out in the game. Can't wait for more!

I am myself currently on my way to getting my first quest cape, much more guided, and watching this series really makes me appreciate having guides because some of this stuff I would never figure out.
You’re an absolute legend! You’ve inspired me to finish the rest of my quest log without the plugin or guides (unless I get stuck on a step for 1+ hours or fail a boss fight 10+ times due to not understanding mechanics). I love seeing the problem solving process and your happiness when you finally reach solutions is so infectious. The dry humour is the cherry on top. A well earned channel membership, keep it up.
going through the struggle , to eventually come to the point where you have the 'Charge Water Orb' in mind , to go and bank get everything ready , be excited to FINALLY have somewhat of a break-through and then going to the door and your lockpick gets broken.. i am sorry but i laughed sooo hard , knowing the pain to go back and get a new one. What a wonderful series you have going on here. I loved every video so far and it takes me back to 2004-2007 where i also did quests this way.. No way in hell i would've come this far. Congratz!
Got my quest cape using guides a couple years back now. I think the most recent was probably a night at the theatre which was released June 2021. So watching these now I never refresh my memory and can't remember a thing just like how you are doing it. Great series, every episode is a banger. Keep it up.
I’ve never done this quest and I am even more lost than you. You are a puzzle guru for solving the things they are asking for because this is insane. You deserve very high praise!
People in the comments saying its obvious that you have to cast charge water orb on the door. But its really not. You need to have a glass orb in your inventory to cast that spell, it doesn't make sense for it on an orb in the game world, its just not how that spell works. And you'll notice that your orb gets consumed. It just makes no sense. A far better quest design would be for the player to be able to remove the glass orb from the door and there is a clearer hit that it needs charging before being place back on the door. So I don't blame you at all for taking so long to figure this out.
I've been binging this series last week. Can't begin to tell you how good it is and how excited I've been for this ep! Good luck on your future endeavors, love this series
Eyy! So happy to see your videos are popping off lately! I've been really enjoying these episodes, and they are so well done. This quest is truly an achievement when completed like this, lmao. Looking forward to seeing this quest complete!
I love this series. It’s crazy to think back to the parts you remember and the parts you don’t . I knew the gems and water orb but never in a million years would I have gotten the cast curse part.
Man, this series takes me back to the good old days. When the game was about having fun and exploration, and efficiency was the last thing on my mind. The Old School I long for, but will never be able to re-attain. Thank you for this series, it is a breath of fresh air for the community!
The reason i have a completely organised bank is because i always was in the opinion that on unorganized bank loses a lot of time. You not seeing your gems is a perfect example 😂 Great series man! ❤
Bitter sweet that I'm caught up. This series is gunna go down as a hood classic. this is up there with boss locked and settleds series for me, just being so different and chill.
I haven't even seen the video yet but when I got the notification and saw the video was 37 minutes long I was so happy. This truly was the best Friday in awhile.
i literally just finished watching the last one to see this posted 30m ago lmao. its really fun watching you do quests that i struggled doing even with the wiki.
This sequence was so interesting to watch compared to my own unguided attempt at this part of the quest. I figured out the Charge Water Orb door pretty much immediately, which worked to my detriment because I completely blanked on the stalagmites for the longest time. I was stuck at the winch prematurely with no clue what to do next, and because I had also found the Curse mechanic to get Ungadulu to tell me about the Book of Binding, I deduced that it must be in one of the barrels nearby and just spent ages fruitlessly smashing them.
I love how frustrating this series can be to watch, and how much genuine relief I feel as just the viewer when you figure out something you've been stumped by for hours.
I just watched 2 40-minute videos about you figuring out how to open a door which i already knew. And it was still entertaining. Been binge watching the series atm, sad that i'm almost caught up tbh
Fucking gold content - Also, this quest is ancient and I believe was the last quest added to RuneScape Classic. They merged over the quest and only received minor updates to it's mechanics. This is the first video I've watched of your series & when I saw you doing this quest I immediately thought "oh god - I can't imagine what fuckery he's gonna come across"
dude... this whole time I thought your thing about casting confusion was just pure delusion, only for it to turn out that it was actually something that was intended (but not needed) in the quest. SO when it actually worked I was like WTF. I don't remember ANY quest guide talking about that, haha
Same, been playing for 20 years, done the quest multiple times across alts, first time seeing this, guess this is why you do stuff guideless. I honestly thought he was just wasting his time with the whole curse bit and it was going nowhere until that happened.
I've done quests a lot of time and I do pay attention or try to get some items during quests. I do recall seeing this dialogue, because y'know, it's 'Sacred Water', like Holy Water, something you throw to bless or purify things? Maybe into even, possessed people?
I love this series, it really reminds me of how I used to do quests back in the day. I was stuck on ernest the chicken for two weeks.

This is one of the best series on TH-cam - thank you so much for your consistency!
Really can't say how much I'm obsessed with this series lmfao, it's just to good mate😂😂
I’m 5 or 6 quests from my cape and I can’t even imagine doing most of those quests without runelite. You are a legend
So close, so many times, it was vindicating to WATCH you figure it out, would've been epic to have a facecam on that!
I love this series. It’s crazy to think back to the parts you remember and the parts you don’t . I knew the gems and water orb but never in a million years would I have gotten the cast curse part.
Milions of videos get uploaded on yt every week, yet this is the only series that I look forward to!
Man, this series takes me back to the good old days. When the game was about having fun and exploration, and efficiency was the last thing on my mind. The Old School I long for, but will never be able to re-attain. Thank you for this series, it is a breath of fresh air for the community!
15:44 Most relatable thing in this series yet, lol.
Great way to start the weekend after a rough week! Love this series
The reason i have a completely organised bank is because i always was in the opinion that on unorganized bank loses a lot of time. You not seeing your gems is a perfect example 😂 Great series man! ❤
Cheers algorithm. New series to watch. Well done on making a 40 minute video on getting through one door so interesting, subbed
Bitter sweet that I'm caught up. This series is gunna go down as a hood classic. this is up there with boss locked and settleds series for me, just being so different and chill.
absolutely loving this series - keep up the awesome work man!
How have I only just found your channel?!?!? Going back to watch from the start
Hands down best series, I joined by the 3rd episode and loved it. Been subbed ever since! Good luck!
I never realized how cute the intro music was!
This series is great! It's so hard not to scream the answers in the comment section sometimes
I haven't even seen the video yet but when I got the notification and saw the video was 37 minutes long I was so happy. This truly was the best Friday in awhile.
One of the doors of all time. Literally and figuratively. Soon legend!
😂😂
Legend!! Thank you so much for the incredibly generous donation, your support is greatly appreciated as always
The "Jade" realization had me cackling.
nice one man feel up to date with everything now :) was an adventure and i look forward to seeing what is to come!
much goodness to you!
i literally just finished watching the last one to see this posted 30m ago lmao. its really fun watching you do quests that i struggled doing even with the wiki.
Favorite series strikes again!
this is the best series on youtube right now! keep it up 🎉
just knowing whats coming in the quest gives me anxiety lol. most interesting rs series ive found in a long long time.
Hopefully this series might help jagex to make the quest log better
That charge water orb moment had to have been supreme euphoria! So much frustration for that payoff!
I just watched 2 40-minute videos about you figuring out how to open a door which i already knew.
And it was still entertaining.
Been binge watching the series atm, sad that i'm almost caught up tbh
Letsfkngooo - now they can call this good friday 🎉
This Public holidays like a slayer task, they're good with a beer but they're superior now.
Happy Friday!
Happy Friday all!
it's always a good day when there's a new unguided ep!
Has he done mourning’s end II yet? I have a feeling he may not enjoy that.
Enchant vial
"I think it's hungry"
Comedy gold
perfect timing! i just finished binging the series yesterday
dude... this whole time I thought your thing about casting confusion was just pure delusion, only for it to turn out that it was actually something that was intended (but not needed) in the quest. SO when it actually worked I was like WTF. I don't remember ANY quest guide talking about that, haha
Absolutely love this series, keep it up man
Yay I get to watch as these videos release now! I’m part of the cool club 😂 probably my favorite OSRS series at this point
"was that meant to happen?"
fella, WE don't even know. lol
Man, Legends quest really is cool as hell
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO fav series rn strikes again!!
Found it too funny when you already had jades in the bank 😂 Funnier than it should have been 😅
I LOVE THIS SERIES. really thank you
Progress! Happy easter mate
Happy easter mate!
This series is so good please keep it up
HE TELLS YOU TO GET THE BOOK OF BINDING!? WHAT.
ive never seen that interaction.
Painful watch, can't wait for the next one! ❤
