I had no idea the ninja gnome could assassinate the monkeys that are coming to arrest you. It's so interesting learning all the things about these areas most people would never see
Fun fact, the reason this quest is such a mess is that it was coded entirely by a single intern at jagex during a summer internship, hence why the ingame quest helper dosen't help, and you had to search every crate under and above ground, alongside some other uniqe oddities
@@AlienFoodage Considering how annoying the quest is, it doesn't surprise me that it's "iconic", as it's easily remembered due to that! (Similar to A small favor, also a well known quest...)
Just found this series and it is easily one of my favourite. You aren't a walking encyclopedia adding an arbitrary restriction on yourself and making vids that skip over so many game details and just consists of constant grinding - you are just playing the game like it was meant to be played back in the day. And the cadence of your videos and the way in which you just think out loud makes it so easy to watch and follow along. Just super chill.
You can actually buy another talisman and give it to the monkey kid after the quest is over to replace the toy you stole. I tried doing that cause I felt so bad stealing his toy lmao and you get this cute little exchange with him, it's great
Honestly mate content like this is way more impressive than something like a chunk-lock which is 99% grinding, you working all this out for yourself & making it entertaining to watch is a real skill!
Fun stuff to watch. You've got the perfect amount of game knowledge for this. It was funny how screwed over you got from randomly killing the ninja monkey. Finding the monkey teeth was a really cruel part of that quest by Jagex with no guide, but doing that helped you a lot getting the talisman because you knew everything about the town already. I was appalled you didn't guess the monkey's uncle option the first time, but at that point you were beat down as a man already.
Your discovery at 5:22 absolutely blew my mind. When I did this quest unguided myself, I did not think to check that and just had to brute force my way into figuring out which pieces of cloud went where. The blatantly missing pieces of cloud at the corners of B1 and D5 threw me off for the longest time. Also glad I'm not the only one whose first thought for the amulet mould was the crafting stall, I still firmly believe that that absolutely should have been the correct solution.

Basically the series I've wanted as someone who's never played RS but started watching series after I was recommended Swampletics, I think. You really stand out for being naturally entertaining (and funny at times) without trying too hard and the editing has been perfect from video 1. Really impressive stuff here and I'm absolutely positive this channel can get big if you keep it up and don't change.

I have such fond memories of Monkey Madness. I think I first did it when I was 11 or 12. It’s certainly an impressive oppressive atmosphere. I think the idea of a land of hostile intelligent monkeys from the quest gave me a nightmare one night. Just the once though thankfully.

Such a great quest and with a guide it can still be a bit rough a times. Your series makes learning and reading the quest texts fun too so I'm still binging them lol.
Nice work! This one's a nightmare guideless. I made the same mistake of stealing from the crafting stall for WAY too long. Fun fact, you don't actually have to give the child 20 bananas -- he can't count, so you can just give him 8 or so and lie to him lmao. Looking forward to Monkey Madness 2... have fun with that one.
@@AlienFoodage Oh, quick tip (no spoilers, just general advice): I found double-checking the skill requirements in the questlog helpful when I got stuck. E.g. looking at the Monkey Madness questlog and seeing no Thieving requirement would have shown that stealing from the crafting stall wasn't the intended solution. Helped me out a few times, though unfortunately I didn't think of it until after this quest.
I did actually do that! But I also dont trust the quest guide to sometimes have all the info 😂 but yeah that was in the back of mind, wasnt sure if those stalls had thieving reqs though. Appreciate the tip though!
@@stephenberg6438 the problem is sometimes there are hidden requirements for ironmen. In an earlier episode he needed a blessed holy symbol for Animal Magnetism but 31 prayer isn't a hard requirement to start the quest nor is it said anywhere in the quest guide. There are other methods but they would also be similarly obscure on a guideless account. Always a good idea to get skills up though, they don't go away and are useful elsewhere.
Wow.... It was funny as I was watching I realized that I have this quest "memorized" because I've followed quest guide on a few accounts! Holy hell my guy, when you made yourself into a Ninja monkey just because you thought it was cool I was laughing SO hard! I recently started playing again about 4 months ago and also am doing it unguided (as much as possible at least) and I did the EXACT same thing for the EXACT same reason! I even thought to myself as I was running through the tunnels to Zooknock "hmm.. perhaps I need to be a Karamja monkey for this... Nah.. Garkor just said I needed to be a monkey, it'll be fine!" I also tried getting up to Kruk via the agility course and found it blocked too! What makes it even funnier is that YOU were actually the straw that broke the camel's back in getting me to return to Runescape after more than 13 years away. I'd been slowly watching more and more OSRS content over the past couple of years like Swampletics and Gielenor Games, and then I found your Episode 1 video back in June and decided I was going to just do the f2p quests unguided for a bit of fun and then I'd watch your episode after to see how you'd done. Now I'm fully back into the grind just like when I was a kid and loving it. But this meant I had to stop watching the series every time I realised the episode you were going to be doing had something in it that I hadn't done myself, which unfortunately means I'm only slowly working my way through the series. To be honest I kinda got held up mostly by just not wanting to do Regicide even though I got to it months ago (I just walked away after the horror that was the Underground Pass), but after I had to get it done to finish an Elite clue-step yesterday I chucked the Regicide and Roving Elves episodes on this evening and have just been binging for the last few hours. I know it's been said by a lot of people but this series is amazing and I'm really looking forward to going on this journey myself and getting through this series until I'm all caught up, whenever that may be. Much love!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't find the red control panel haha (still use a guide for some but you inspired me to not use one for the more iconic/well written quests)
i didn't know this, but if you actually did run past those guards to climb up the ladder to the south east of the monkey village, you would have been able to go back to the crash island from there! Basically all guides just have you teleport out, but it's good that they put this option there for people not using teleports.
I just beat this quest myself, and even with a guide it was a pain in the ass. I actually guzzled more potions during this one quest than I have in the rest of my account's lifetime.
I wish I could not know what I know and try this way of playing. I only get to experience this with new quests and even then I have all the facilities to make it as painless and easy as possible!
I remember trying to do mm without a guide years ago and got stuck on the north side of the island with my cash stack and no teleports (long before home teles existed) a friend had to come bring me some runes
36:10 did they change how those guards worked? I remember getting trapped between a bunch of guards back in the day and dying once i ran out of prayer points cuz i couldn’t run through them
So, the first Magic attack it uses happens too fast to use Mage Pray at the start of the fight and still block it. If you turn it on before equipping the sigil, it'll be blocked though.
a good thing would probably be to note down the requirements for a quest, for example monkey madness has no thieving requirement so you couldve ruled out thieving from the stalls and stuff like that when trying to figure things out, maybe you started doing that in later episodes though :P
Is the intended solution (without guides) actually to find a random box, in a random building, and enter a hole, just to search other boxes at random, until you find a mold? *WTF*
I dont know if its just not a saying in your part of the world, but I was so surprised when you didnt immediately realize the phrase "I'm a monkeys uncle" lol
Crossing that bridge only to be back at the start of Ape Atoll is actually peak comedy.

I also tried getting up to Kruk via the agility course and found it blocked too!
Much love!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't find the red control panel haha (still use a guide for some but you inspired me to not use one for the more iconic/well written quests)
this is so good man. you're onto gold here.
i didn't know this, but if you actually did run past those guards to climb up the ladder to the south east of the monkey village, you would have been able to go back to the crash island from there! Basically all guides just have you teleport out, but it's good that they put this option there for people not using teleports.
I’m sad I started this series last night and within a day I’m caught up haha. Love it!
Haha wow, that’s dedication! I’m glad you enjoyed!!
This series is awesome, keep em comin'!
Every time Alien Food says “monkey” take a drink
Great video! very good job on the tile puzzle! great series!
Honestly, doing this unguided this was much less painful for you than I thought it would be
I think overall, probably yeah! Although finding those 3 items to make the amulet and talisman was a pretty awful experience to start off
Great concept, great personality and great editing keep it up man, super enjoyable
Thank you :) that means a lot!
Such a great series Keep it up man! Fond memories of those prison guard gorillas caving my head in
Thank you! 😂
Again, quallity content! Please keep this series up for us!!
props on solving the slide puzzle that quick. i really suck at those without cheating
I just beat this quest myself, and even with a guide it was a pain in the ass. I actually guzzled more potions during this one quest than I have in the rest of my account's lifetime.
Man got betrayed by king Lathas in one episode then glough in the next and said “I’ll never trust anyone ever again.”
I liked that you called the monkey merchant a person.
The hero Old school needs.
Saw the length of the video and figured it's going to be hilarious ( to us )
Im ok with the longer episodes, thank you for this awesome content
i forgot that the gnomes in the jail made fun of you every time you got captured. thats so funny
Love this series ! Please don't stop this your doing great 😊
Thank you!
Wonder when hes going to find out that he can buy balls of wool 😂
I wish I could not know what I know and try this way of playing. I only get to experience this with new quests and even then I have all the facilities to make it as painless and easy as possible!
The d scim looks cooler because you actually earned it.
I remember trying to do mm without a guide years ago and got stuck on the north side of the island with my cash stack and no teleports (long before home teles existed) a friend had to come bring me some runes
36:10 did they change how those guards worked? I remember getting trapped between a bunch of guards back in the day and dying once i ran out of prayer points cuz i couldn’t run through them
Nah I got trapped a few times too, think they’re a bit inconsistent
Honestly cant wait for the fremmi stuff, love the viking vibe
So, the first Magic attack it uses happens too fast to use Mage Pray at the start of the fight and still block it. If you turn it on before equipping the sigil, it'll be blocked though.
a good thing would probably be to note down the requirements for a quest, for example monkey madness has no thieving requirement so you couldve ruled out thieving from the stalls and stuff like that when trying to figure things out, maybe you started doing that in later episodes though :P
Is the intended solution (without guides) actually to find a random box, in a random building, and enter a hole, just to search other boxes at random, until you find a mold?
*WTF*
The rage at @43:00 feels so pure
More hour long eps please this series is so interesting
45:22 is pure comedy gold. Just as you think you beat the game.
I dont know if its just not a saying in your part of the world, but I was so surprised when you didnt immediately realize the phrase "I'm a monkeys uncle" lol
Wow I think you’re the only person who found the picture of the puzzle. I never knew or read on a guide
