“Warsaw 44” by Jan Komasa is a brutal film , a film full of pain and suffering but such was the 1944 Warsaw Rising of the people of the capital against the Nazi German occupant. It is a film which shakes our modern reality- it shows brutality, fear, pain and anger. It shows a world where there is no mercy and where death takes its toll on every corner. It shows the ruins of the city and the suffering of its people ,but it is also a film about youth ,love, courage, honour and sacrifice .
“It was so important for us to be able to meet with these people, the Warsaw Rising veterans, the eye witnesses “. Anna Próchnik and Józef Pawłowski ,two young stars of the film talk to Agnieszka Bielawska about the work on the film, the inspiration they gathered from the Warsaw Rising veterans and their impressions.
