    I have the small version and have been using it for years making stitch and flip corners and flying geese. Love it.

    Wow! Thanks for sharing some neat tricks with this ruler! I have the original, and couldn’t imagine sewing triangles and binding strips together without it! Happy quilting! 🧵

    I still have my small one from Prairie Sky and have also added a creative grids one also. Use them all the time - Just ordered the XL from Keepsake Quilting yesterday and it shipped today. Anxious to get it - I'm sure it will get as much use as the little one!! Creative Grids are the best!

    I have the small and large. So useful especially for joining binding.

    Love this ruler and it's smaller companion! I agree with the comments already made about the mitered border demonstration though. We NEED a demo showing 1) how to do this with directional fabric, especially since many people only care about mitering borders with directional fabric; 2) once you've pre-cut the borders, how do they attach to the quilt top?; 3) Verify the measurements given for cutting the mitered border fabric. My math isn't all that great, so I may be totally wrong on this, but the border strips seem short to me.

    I make a lot of double-sided borders. The top of the border is 1 inch. The bottom of the border is 1 7/8 of an inch. I would love to see more markings on the folded corner.

    Love it ! I ordered it before your video was ¼ done. I wish however you’d finished how to do the mitered corner process. I guess I’ll figure it out. Thanks !

    Wondering if you could use this ruler to make larger flying geese.

    • @CreativeGridsUSA
      @CreativeGridsUSA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure you could. There are so many ways to make a flying goose block, but one thing is standard - there are triangles on the corners. And the general rule of thumb is that the geese are half as tall as they are wide.

  • @MarleneOaks

    If you cut the 6" border only 1/2" longer than the quilt, it won't fit. It seems to me it needs to be cut 61/2" bigger so when the triangle is cut off, the shorter length is 1/2" bigger than the quilt and the longer side forms the outside edge.

    • @CreativeGridsUSA
      @CreativeGridsUSA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the instructions, you're asked to find the final dimension for the outside edge of the quilt, after this border is added. I understand your suggestion for 6 1/2" added to the length, but actually you would want to double that so you have extra at both ends if you're going off the measurement of the quilt before borders are added. It's one of those things that quilters all have their preferred method, this is just one way to miter your borders.

    I have binding with a stripe. Will this method make matching the stripes easier?

  • @sandan2358

    If I had 5 binding strips for a small quilt and want to cut all at once could I just stack all 5 right sides up then do the same on the other end?

      If you are comfortable cutting that many layers at once - absolutely.
