2018 I rode my NC Britain to Russia and back via Finland . No panniers or top case just a Lomo roll bag on the rear carrier . I have a shad seat and handguards other than that pretty standard . Bike performed well !
I think those upgrades are very worthwhile. I bought a brand new 2020 Nc750 s manual clutch very happy with the bike had front brakes faults which the dealership is sorting. But otherwise an excellent bike fantastic engine gearbox good torque very versatile.
The upgrades can continue to unlimited budged 😁 actually the sky it's the limit. Still the seat, windshield, crash bar, central stand are a must have! 😉
My impression of this bike is, it looks like an adventure bike, because nowadays that's what everybody wants, but it's not really, it's a commuter bike and short-haul touring bike. I've never ridden one (my local Honda dealer doesn't stock them), but I did rent its little brother, the NC500 x, for 4 days in Thailand last year. Very capable bike, not huge fun to ride but comfortable, reliable and good on gas. An excellent choice if you need a practical bike that will be cheap to buy and own. I just wish it weren't so ugly.
It is an all-round bike, but many of us that uses it for commuting also want to take it out on some adventures. That's why we try to upgrade it to be more capable. Ride safe 👍
@@FinnMikeonaBike I am the same as you. I use it as commuter but I also take it on 1000 and 2000 mile trips so I love the mods I have made and plan to make more. It is a good all arounder. The rear rack for the top box looks very nice because it looks aligned with the passenger seat. I have seen other options and it doesn't look so nice once it's very high
I bought a windshield from Madstad Engineering. A US based company that makes 4 different tints to the windshield for our motorcycles. Its tall and a bit wider and its helped me with the wind against my chest and helmet. I will be getting the SW-Mototech foot pegs as my feet are wide and they look to be more comfortable for us taller riders. Yes, the stock seat is not the greatest as I like to ride out of town and sometimes in town for hours..I will invest in that down the road. Colder temperatures are around the corner here so I won't be riding. New subbie and great videos!
I agree with most of your ideas and suggestions - but for those of us who use this bike for commuting 85% of the time I would prefer to save my money and buy a second bike that is more specific to touring or adventure riding. Since that would be less than 20% of my riding I would purchase a used bike for that purpose - you can get a used Kawasaki Concours for around $4k and that is a better long distance touring bike than upgrading the NC750... And this Honda is really too heavy and lacks ground clearance for off-roading - no matter what you do to it. The NC750 is still the best "only bike" if you only have room or money for one.
Hello Mike, you are right, the NC is by no means an off road bike, but some of us like to take it out anyway :-) And for me two bikes would be too much with double insurance, storage ... and mostly explaining at home why I need two bikes 😂😆
Great Video, I have the same bike and have ordered about $1300.00 in add ons. I got the engine guards, radiator guard, the SHAD mounting racks and the SHAD SH36 Hard Cases, (which were the biggest cost, $600.00) but worth it. Cant seem to find a center stand yet or the S/W foot peg set, but I did order cruising foot pegs and mounts that attach to the crash bar for highway cruising. And also one of those cruise controller gizmos (throttle lock device). Waiting on a new rear wheel stand to do chain maintenance and adjusting.
Nothing is MUST have.. its just nice to have. Everything is from your perspective and where you use it. If im gonna use it too an from work 90% of the time wich is on asphalt and 35km one way its fine as it is stock =)
So I've added a few things on my NC750X that I've had for about 6 weeks now.. I collected it the day before Australia went in to lock down.... * Centre stand from the dealer. * Barkbuster Storm hand guards. * Givi engine bars. * radiator guard. * front and rear DVR cameras. * 2 usb charging ports and merit plug. * alarm (waiting on fitting) * handlebar risers (not fitted yet). * Givi tank bag. * Givi side panniers (waiting on delivery). * Givi spotlight bar (waiting on delivery). * Stedi C4 spotlights and wiring. I'm thinking about a new screen and seat but not sure yet. You're so right about the seats. I'm also going to get some of those SW motech foot pegs, they look like they'd be so much better. Keep up the great videos mate..
Nice list of add-ons :-) I also have a 12V outlet and a GPS tracking alarm fitted by Honda. Still waiting for the lockdown to end so I can get myself hand guards and a skid plate. Ride safe 👍
@@FinnMikeonaBike I can defs recommend the Barkbuster Storm hand guards, I had them on my CB500X as well. You can actually pick them up from ebay for about $200 AUD

For those who want to go off road or riding in a country without super fast highway traffic there's a modification that will make this bike pull like a train..... Change the gearing by changing the front sprocket to 16 teeth, factory is 17 teeth and the rear sprocket to a 46 teeth, factory is 43 teeth.( That is for the NC750) . I always found the gearing too long for my taste and the 16/46 is very suitable for me. Having said that if you want your speedometer to be accurate it's best to install a Speedohealer from Healtech.

Instead of the radiator guard you can more cheaply buy a fender extender ! Also , the SW Motech center stand is compatible with the engine guard. There are cheaper solutions (givi , shad etc) for a top case and panniers especially for those who don't want them mounted all the time .Heated grips are a good accessory also as well as some led high beam/fog lights .Finally , don't disregard the usefulness of an automatic chain oiler like the pro-oiler or scottoiler .
I went cheap on my NC700X. I don't ride off-road so didn't get a skid plate, crash bars or steel pegs. I don't do overnight trips so no luggage needed. Removed the stock windscreen to make it MUCH quieter but not an option for cold days. Reduced rear shock preload almost all the way to lower the seat height. So what did I upgrade? Got a SeatConcepts kit which I will install when my garage is above freezing in a few weeks, $180. Stock seat is ok up to 90 minutes.
I am going to make my own upgrades, except for the windscreen. I am a Fitter, Machinist, welder and Electrician and retired. Might not be pretty when I am done, but it will be cheap and practical.
I have those upgrades on my NC750DCT I have SW Motech footpegs, SW Motech slide plate, SW Motech crash bars, Radiator Shield, Givi Windshield and bar risers and for tires, I'm running Shinko 705 and Honda handguards.

Thanks. I am heading back to 'bikes' after making the silly mistake of swapping my excellent 2013 V-Strom 650 for a Yamaha Tmax 530 DX scooter. After 5 years of loving the Strom from new, I swapped it for a new Tmax 530 DX in late 2018. Mistake! I do not like the Yamaha. It's far, far too noisy. Not only the volume, but the pitch of the sound is annoying all the time. That's why it is basically unridden, at 1,085 kilometres, 2 years later. Well, if I can get back 2/3 of what I paid, fine. I swapped to the scooter as I was getting hand and wrist pain from the clutch lever on the Strom. I rented a NC700S (before they were all 750) manual, and thought it was flimsy and not well made compared to my Strom, so went for the Yamaha. To the future, though... Back to a bike bike, as opposed to a hybrid scooter bike. No clutch lever, no matter how nice the bike is, is an option for me now. Bad joints, ouch! So it looks like the 2020 NC750X DCT is the one to go for, as the DCT is not an option on the VFR800X. Shit seat, though, on the NC. Just awful. This video was a very useful guide for me, though at only 5 feet 7 inches tall, I don't have 'tall' problems :)

I like your videos, you explain what i really want to know, i'm considering to purchase this bike. And you don't considering to install fog lights ? it's very common. thank you
Fog lights, phone charger are essential indeed Nowadays a good set can be cheap and include both fog and spotlight beams in one package. if you have access to a good and cheap supplier I would consider LED bulb replacement
I would recommend a duck feet peg upgrade also essential. But those upgrades are so cheap especially for a Honda -- what a smart platform for touring or adventure
Hi. Great video. One minus point though... You talk about mods for the taller rider but you don't say how tall you are! I'm 5'11" (180 cm). Do you think I would benefir from the taller screen? Cheers from UK.
Hi! Where did you buy the bar risers? Are they back risers too? Did you have to adjust the brake or clutch cables? I'm looking for ones that rises up 30 mm and 21 mm back for my NC 750x 2020 as well as to change the seat to the Shad one...The stock one is very uncomfortable!
You covered a bunch of accessories, but not the one I need ---- Where did you find the rear carrier with the very neat side hand grips built into the frame that supported the rear accessory luggage plate? I've looked everywhere I can think of and no one else has any accessory half as slick as that. Please tell me where I can find one like that.
Great list of worthwhile upgrades. I have some of them for my 2016 NC700X. I am wondering what is required for installing the rear Honda OEM trunk you have (no panniers, just trunk). I have the rear OEM Honda rack already on my bike, and am considering getting the trunk. Does the OEM trunk just snap or clip onto the rear OEM rack? Or is there something additional required? Thanks for the many helpful videos! :-)
@@FinnMikeonaBike, the NC700 seat kind of pushed you forward and for long miles for consecutive weeks of riding, it was a bit of a torture. It kind of looks like the NC750 seat has been redesigned. I have not been able to verify that but did read something about it. Can anyone verify by a side-by-side comparison of the two?
192,000 k basically 4 years of riding, I had my seat adjusted by a local seat repair shop in Thailand, cost was about 40.00, and recently put a new seat cover at 190,000 k for 15.00, longest day 1,000k, longest month 12,000k, this bike is capable of all conditions. It's not the best in any category but great in all categories!!! Don't underestimate this Amazing Motorcycle
I have done a 4k on the motorcycle mostly cross country and I immediately couldn't stand the seat. I love the seat on my yamaha xmax. I put an airhawk on my nc750x and it's definitely better. Someday I may just replace the seat but more important mods for now and the airhawk is good enough.
I see you are fairly tall. I am 189 cm, so 6cm taller and I am fairly lanky, i.e I long legs and arms. The only unfettled Honda that fits me is the Crosstourer. I'm considering what to get as a first bike and want a middleweight which won't bore me but will not scare me either. A faired SV650 would be good having sat on one. What modern middleweight bikes could I consider that will offer that sort of fit, size and wind protection? In spite of being an avid mountainbiker for 20 years, I don't really dig the adventure style of motorcycles and tend to buy things based on how they will be used rather than fashion. (would rather have a sports tourer but may have to go that way.) Tiger 1050 Sport is a bike I love the look of, but will be too much power. Great review incidentally. I discounted the NC750 due to the seat height but may reconsider
I would rather not suggest any bike to another person as it greatly has to do with liking, comfort and riding style, and everyone has his own opinion. But some suggestions for a first bike: - you are going to feel much more confident if you are able to flatfoot it (get both feet flat on the ground) - a lighter bike is easier to handle and to lift up if dropped, a big plus also if the center of gravity is low - ANY bike is going to have enough power as a first bike - usually when you try out the "right one" you will know it straight away It is common that when you have your first bike you start to notice what you miss on the bike and where you actually want to go with the bike, and then you are much wiser when you upgrade to the next :-) Try different bikes, I'm sure you will find the right one for you! Ride safe 👍
I am 196 cm and I did own a Crosstourer for 2 years. But I found out that I liked my wife's NC700 more. So I sold the Crosstourer and bought an NC750x DCT 2017 last february. Rode 4000 km with it until now. I love it. Changes I made: an upholsterer made the seat higher and nice horizontal (95 euro), adjustable footpegs (1-5 cm lower, 135 euro) and a windshield mount from Palmer Products, makes the screen higher, adjustable in hight and angle (150 euro complete, including a bar to mount your GPS on). And no, I am not a beginner, I ride since 1972, rode about 300.000km the last 20 years on heavy bikes (1100-1200cc) before I bought the NC. Easy and fuel-economic, that's the NC and that's what you want when you ride alle day!

I think that is the short math ;-) I have accidentally added the price for the cases and the center stand, although thy are included in the price of the bike. This is what you get when doing things in a hurry. Thanks for the remark!! I try and correct it somehow ....
@@FinnMikeonaBike Kind of :) The prices are pretty much the same as in Europe, just about + 30% I'm just dealing with tire change. They want almost 800€ for Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 + work, so I'm thinking about changing the tires myself.
Essentially, all the protection, guarding and comfort stuff you need is prove of bad design and incompleteness. However, I like the bike for it's concept, versability and great engine.
I've learned not to bother buying a bike that doesn't fit me stock. I am tall too. Japanese bikes tend not to fit. European bikes tend to fit. I'd rather buy a used Ducait, BMW, Aprilia or KTM than buy a new or any Japanese bike that doesn't fit.

I'm looking for ones that rises up 30 mm and 21 mm back for my NC 750x 2020 as well as to change the seat to the Shad one...The stock one is very uncomfortable!
so how tall are you ?
I’ve done 20,000 km on my NC and I have never found the seat to be a problem.
It's a matter of opinion, most people complain about it. If the seat doesn't bother you then you save a lot of money :-) Enjoy your NC and ride safe 👍
I agree about the seat but it depends the use of riding I mean if you ride for a long trip I think you have an issue.
Someday I may just replace the seat but more important mods for now and the airhawk is good enough.
where do you get your parts
But some suggestions for a first bike:
- you are going to feel much more confident if you are able to flatfoot it (get both feet flat on the ground)
- a lighter bike is easier to handle and to lift up if dropped, a big plus also if the center of gravity is low
- ANY bike is going to have enough power as a first bike
- usually when you try out the "right one" you will know it straight away
It is common that when you have your first bike you start to notice what you miss on the bike and where you actually want to go with the bike, and then you are much wiser when you upgrade to the next :-)
Try different bikes, I'm sure you will find the right one for you!
@@bikerrinus Well I have bought a Fazer 600 off a friend for peanuts and had it fully checked by a Yamaha specialist. A bit small but only 20K on the clock and should fetch what I paid in a year or 2.

Hi! Look for "Iron Skill" guard and accessories ;)
Hello Alexandr, Thanks for the info 👍, I will try and overcome the language barrier and find out the right product. :-)
Hi Alexandr, can you give a link to the website please?
A fender extender if an affordable useful upgrade.
You are absolutely right!! 👍
It makes the radiator guard less necessary.
can you fill the tank without getting off the seat ?
great video mate, i am thinking upgrading my honda forza 350 to this one with the dct version...may i ask if its comfortable for 2 people riding at highway a lot of miles??
also what about the braking system?? is it good ?
I think most of them are great I don’t think I’ll need the windshield upgrades I do a lot of Highway miles with out any windshield and I very enjoy not having one so I can cool off
I would remove the windshield all together if I was not worried the bike would look kinda dump with out it also having it will help keep rain off the display to ready my speed
I don’t know if I’ll need the risers either
The Seat upgrade is a Must upgrade on most Honda’s I’ve been on It’s just something Honda does to keep cost low after all in Vietnam to Thailand they have to sell bikes for less then $2,000 to get people in those poor county’s a bike to get on the road with so cutting cost on bikes for people who can buy these nicer Motorcycles is just how Honda can do it
Are the tyres tubeless
So what tires are best for this bike if mostly driving asphalt road?
Michelin Pilot Road 5 rubbers are darn good!
Hi! You can add links to the accessories, product?
Found you on another channel and subbed :D
Thanks, I hope you enjoy the content! 👍
The rear case rack, is it stock?
I don't know where you get your math but it be 10,264 he started out at a base 9100
I think that is the short math ;-)
I have accidentally added the price for the cases and the center stand, although thy are included in the price of the bike. This is what you get when doing things in a hurry.
Thanks for the remark!! I try and correct it somehow ....
does anyone make engine crash bars that project a little more to also protect your legs in the event of a drop or drop and slide
any chance you know getting the tank changed to bigger tank instead of whats in there?
Take the tank vent tube and extend it into a canister placed in the frunk 🙂
@@meindertsprang7491 i wold of thought theymadeone tereplace theone uonstead of the helmet
One item missing if considering serious trail riding! Spoke wheels probably last upgrade to complete ? Thanks for link 👍
Minha Honda é uma NC 750X 2016.
I agree with most of your upgrades, but not with your math. Adding up all upgrades to the bike with the prices you list results in 10264.
Heated grips and cruise control
links for the mods?
Very affordable price... 12 000€ in Norway for stock DCT version :)
Oh those taxes ... but I think compared to other bikes in Norway the NC is still affordable? 🤔
@@FinnMikeonaBike Kind of :) The prices are pretty much the same as in Europe, just about + 30% I'm just dealing with tire change. They want almost 800€ for Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 + work, so I'm thinking about changing the tires myself.
where did you buy shad ?any link?

I assume that you're a tall guy but, how many cm your height?
190
Very good information I'm Swedish transgender woman second generation sweedish girl thank you so much for the information
Hello, nice to hear from you. I don't understand why you tell us that you're trans. Not that I have a problem with it at all. :-)
I don't see the issue with the seat I've done 40,000 miles with the stock seat
It's a matter of opinion, most people find it uncomfortable. You save a lot of money if you can live with the stock seat 👍
@@FinnMikeonaBike very true. I don't know anyone who has changed the seat unless it's a different one on the UK bikes
Essentially, all the protection, guarding and comfort stuff you need is prove of bad design and incompleteness. However, I like the bike for it's concept, versability and great engine.
Must be Finnish:)
Benelli TRK 502 X.... All this equipment and even more for less than 7000 euros!... and 19" front rim

How tall are you?
183cm
Sorry, but I couldn’t follow your summary.
The NC750X is a "commuter bike", so the only thing that is really lacking is a more comfortable seat. If you want to do more adventure-like, off-road-like rides, the NC is not the bike for you. And the advantage of adding accessories is that you add the ones your really want, within your budget.
Wow so cheap… here in taiwan the base price of NC750x is 398knt dollars almost 13400us dollars 😓
with all the options better buying an africa twin second hand Lmao!
Hello Felix, well , that is an option of course :-)
I got the 2023. I hate hate hate the seat
