@@SkillSpotter all these Americans, sir that are talking trash about these guys. That’s all it is is a bunch of talk. I would buy a hand forged axe from these hard workers long before I'd buy a new axe made in china. But I don't have this opportunity, so I buy old axe heads stamped with England/USA/Sweden/Canada at yard sales and put new handles on them.
Quality craftsmanship. It would be interesting to know the history of that shop . Those are some heavy duty hammers .1 said pakistan on the side . Is this in Pakistan? What were the hammers made to forge ? They look very expensive to be forging axe heads .
The craftsmanship is awesome! My issue is with the fact they only quench a small fraction of the tip. That way the hardened steel from the edge will wear off faster and the user will be forced to buy a new axe, without ever knowing what the issue was with his first purchase....
@@artamandi you try it the only thing it changes is speed. all operations on the hammer are free forging this is not a drop hammer that works of a pattern mold
It's just amazing the skills these folks have. It's a shame that less and less folks here have that kind of skill set, within any given industry. Don't get me wrong!! We have folks with some next level skills. We just don't have enough of them.
These guys are having limited sources but still thay can do their best. And thay can Compete with any High tech and high budget industry of axe making. Thanks a lot for your time Sir.
@@SkillSpotter I watched a video the other day of some guys repairing crankshafts that had been broken in to. It was in the same region of the world. The lathe work those guys were doing was just incredible. You'd never see a machinist here in The States pull that type of work off. The guys working in the these little shops really are on a completely different level!!!
Looks like quality work but some hearing and eye protection would be a good idea. Those trip hammers are freaking loud, never mind the grinding wheels.
I was a professional Blacksmith for many years , specialized in 18th century knives and Axes. Unlike these guys I did everything by hand and didn’t use modern tools like power hammers Most of my axes I made out of four pieces forge welded together in my antique forge. 3 pieces of iron from old buggy wheels or hinges and then a steel cutting bit from an old file forge welded in between the iron side pieces …The 3rd iron piece was used for the poll. Having a round eye usually not a good idea since can be hard to keep it tight to the handle. I did make round eye tomahawks but with these the handle slides down from the top and can easily tightened just tapping the handle
There's nothing wrong with using a power hammer, in my opinion. But you're right about the round eye, this will not be a lasting tool. But, to be honest, it's clear they're not aiming for quality; their goal seems to produce in quantity and cheap. What bothers me, it is the lack of protection for the ears, the eyes, the hands, ... And I am astonished everyone in the comment is impressed by their work without noticing the horrible conditions.
Now there's what quality craftsmanship is all about. Everyone has a different job to do and with their collective efforts turns out these really nice axe heads.

No offence but if you're in awe of this I find it hard to believe that your shop stayed open for 31years

I like how they always use protective equipment
Makes you wonder how much of it is just made up by an industry making millions selling useless equipment.
This shows me that after 38 years at the anvil I still know nothing! These gentlemen are true craftsmen who deserve absolute respect.
Respect you,cos there are very few people who can admire others in the same field.
