    Thanks for the video and all the hints. Sadly this product around $400 is way too expensive, so i will be looking for alternatives. Thanks for the idea anyway.

    Why not just blitz the food scraps in a blender into a slurry so they break down in the most efficient manner possible? I do this and mix the slurry in with a hydrated bucket of coconut coir. So there's a 50/50 mix of green and brown material. The volume of compost that reduces in a span of a week is staggering. Go bacteria, go worms!

      The worms thrive in coco coir!!! Mine reproduced so fast in it...

    God she is just handling those worms no problem. I'm such a baby when it comes to worms and snakes.

      i vermicompost and when i first got my worms from uncle jim's worm farm, i was so grossed out, i could hardly handle the bag, much less open it up. but i always wear my gardening gloves, and i got used to it! i've really loved vermicomposting--it's crazy fast! and it's fun!

    Hello! I just got my Garden Tower 2 for Mother’s Day and getting ready to compost. I watched your 3 part video and have some questions. Can you put old mushrooms from the fridge to the compost bin as part of the greens? Also how about coffee grinds. I think you only touched on it briefly unless I missed it. Thank you, Fi

    So are you suggesting that leaves should be used as brown matter or are they too acidic?

    I tried to order a tower but it said it could not be shipped to Australia. When do you think they will be available or is an Australian alternative.

    I hope you've changed your website's link directly to Nightcrawlers as composting worms. It would be frustrating for people to buy and install nightcrawlers only to watch this and see that they should have bought Red Wigglers instead.

    So if I want to move it inside in the winter I would need to clean it out completely. Do I need worms to use the composting feature?

    • @AshleyBellNYC
      @AshleyBellNYC 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      are you going to keep it planted? keep the worms! a lot of people do their worm composting in containers inside. they won't escape and go around your home. that said, i have a subpod (RIP) vermicomposting system and live in NY, and keep my worms outside in the winter. sometimes i cover the whole bed with a plastic cover, but it's been so mild this winter, I didn't even do that, and they are thriving!

    What type of soil do you start with before vermicomposting starts?

      I used bagged container soil. Seemed to work well with salad greens and brassicas.

    Your video is very confusing about both the process and what the user is trying to accomplish for a new installation. Are there some more specific instructions that are step by step somewhere on the site? This is not even close to working for me and the two of you seem to be at cross purposes.

    To complicated for me.

    • @AshleyBellNYC
      @AshleyBellNYC 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      this is a complicated and super detailed explanation for if you want all the info. but vermicomposting is actually pretty simple. i've been doing it for a few years with the subpod system--there is a ton of videos for how people do it, and it's got some basic principles, but is very straigtforward and pretty forgiving.
