Well done and fascinating. A friend has bought one and I hope to purchase myself.

Would it be possible to use a weed barrier to keep the roots from entering the compost column?

I gave up over the hot hot summer when my compost tube became a breeding ground for huge fly maggots. The pupa even infested the soil. Couldn’t bring myself to eat the vegetables that managed to grow. Kept seeing Jeff Goldblum rubbing his hands together and drooling on my spinach.

What is the Browns and greens?

Compost is made from both greens (fresh fruit and veggie scraps) and browns (paper and brown leaves).

This is excellent information, I’ve kept feeding my worms through out the Oregon Winter. They seem to be surviving and eating. I’ve given them scraps in between layers of shredded paper and some decomposing leaves 🍁. However I might add extra browns. Do you change or turn the dirt on the outside of your garden tower before planting seeds for a new season?

I’ve got a compost sifter that is made with a mesh wire stapled onto a wood frame. I shake it over plastic type gardening mat for leaves. I then, use that compost to add to soil for growing more food plants and put the unfinished compost and worms back into the composter. Its another method.

Why are you separating the worms from the compost?

Thanks for your video. I LOVE the garden tower but theres not much information on harvesting the vermicompost.

Would you recommend browns and greens in layers or can I mix them up before putting them in the tower?

It's pretty clear what would be considered greens, but what are browns?

Vin Maniace browns are your carbon rich materials such as dried leaves, straw, wood chips, newspaper, cardboard, etc

How long does it take to do the entire tower? What about the "unhatched" worms?

Won't the mango pits start to grow in the tower? Do you break it open and crack the seed before putting the pit into the tower?

This was a fairly interesting video, but the bright panels on each side of the frame make it really hard to look at.

    What would be good browns?

Shredded paper bags, dried leaves, shredded carboard(or at least cut into really small pieces), dried corn husk.

Is it something we can have on a superyacht?

That's interesting. Probably. Would be curious what salty ocean moisture would do to your plants though. There aren't any rustsble parts. You should look at a hydroponic tower instead. Light the room and grow greens. You can use your desalination unit to produce water or collect rain water. You don't need a ton.

Where can I get a tower in Australia?

I wish I would have seen this video before i spent over $300 on this thing. I would prefer to do a raised bed and not be handling worms every 30 days :-(

I thought that when I get a tower I would process the compost in my food processor before adding them to the central column.

I put the greens in my VitaMix to help out my worms. I keep a large ziplock in freezer and just add to it.
