everybody needs some adversity to help them grow. "Bullying" normally implies cruelly tormenting/assaulting, though, and that kind obviously should be discouraged. The vast majority of people seem to be saying that this kid is so brave and has more compassion than most adults. Is it not possible that his "bravery" came mostly from lack of self awareness? Maybe he's a little higher on that autism spectrum than average. There's no compassion in making adults feel weak compared to a 10 year old, who might not have even been thinking clearly when he knocked at that door

They want a man who can protect them and their kids. Some day he's gonna be a father and he's gonna need to pass on to his son how to stand up for himself. It's not society's job to protect little boys, it's society's job to teach them how to protect themselves. And it's little boys job to grow-up and protect society. This safety-ism has to stop.

The parents can only do so much. Most of the bully type kids in my school growing up had very good parents. They know what they’re doing is wrong.. so what can a parent do? I suspect a lot of those parents had no idea their kids were bullies. The ball is in the kids’ court. It’s up to the bullies, the bullied, and the people seeing it happen to manage it. After all it has existed as long as people have, and will until we don’t.

Who's to say he didn't knock on the wrong house and would spend the rest of the day crying having repeated sex with a paedo with low standards until he is killed. It's not like his parents would even know where he even is, since he didn't tell anyone he'd be there, the kid would literally just disappear.

@@ripeager9338 true, I know kids still roam the neighborhood in my area, they just don't go as far as I remember growing up. It's not uncommon for kids a block or 2 away from my house to come knocking on my door asking if my son or daughter wants to play. I don't let my kids roam like that unsupervised, but my neighborhood is relatively safe for this day and age.

My son's grown now and working but still no real friends to speak of. I hope you can find ways for your son to thrive. Nobody I run into these days seems to have time or an interest in playing video games anymore it seems. Which really sucks because I finally have enough computers in my home for guests that they don't even have to bring one anymore lol.
Aside from that I used to play a lot of Airsoft. My goodness it was exhilarating! I loved it. I brought a bunch of people together while playing and founded my old team. I fell out of touch with them all and ended up selling all my hear after a motorcycle accident I had about 10 years ago.
Sold the bike too, eventually. I was going to kill someone the way I was riding, sigh (not proud of that, just the facts) - or myself. Glad I gave it up. I'm much safer on 4 wheels. :)

Jesus Christ wants a personal relationship with you through the Holy Spirit, not religion and blind faith. You see, we all have sinned, and have broken God’s law (The Ten Commandments). Wrong doing deserves justice and must be punished (just like how a criminal has to pay for the crime they have committed) but God saved us from the eternal punishment of our sins by sending His Son Jesus Christ, fullness of God in flesh, to pay the penalty for us by dying on the cross and resurrecting, so that we may have everlasting life. Now for you to accept the free gift of grace, you must repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ and Bible says that His Blood will cover all of your sins, you will be forgiven, saved from eternal punishment, and be given everlasting life. By faith you will receive the Holy Spirit, become born again, know Jesus personally and He will transform your heart and clean you from the inside out. @@JizzyPalms What a joke I had lots of "chubby" friends who didn't always like what most of my friends like they were usually some of my best friends. In most cases they stayed chumby even as we got older while some leaned out & bulked up after growing into sports around high school. i lived in a different time & kids these days seem to be encouraged to bully but there's usually alot more to why a kid is or isn't bullied then just being chubby or not.

He's highly intelligent, but socially awkward. He is an easy target. Most boys that age do not respect genuine and sweet, and they never will.
He needs a father to tell him when to stop being so "sweet".

@@TrumpIsCowardTraitor “Sweet” is a great thing to be. There needs to be more done in response to bullying-and that starts with teaching children respect at home, continues through to school leaders actually acknowledging issues and using contemporary studies to navigate implementing proactive initiatives and delivering meaningful consequences. Telling a child to not be “sweet” isn’t the answer.

Out of all of this, my favorite part of the entire thing is that he recognized that his so called "friends" were bullies and that he needed to drop them out of his life and find new friends. So many people cling on to toxic friendships because they don't want to be alone but sometimes hanging on and sticking with those toxic friendships can actually make you feel more alone and friendless than not having friends.
I'm proud of this kid. I'm thankful that the home owner took time out of his day to talk to this kid. You can tell the kid really needed somebody to talk to. Not that his mom couldn't talk to him he probably just felt like he needed a non-family member to talk to. Good on the home owner for not shooing the kid off his porch.
I hope this kid continues to have all the friends he'd ever want in life and I hope those bullies realize what an awesome friend they just lost. When they grow up and (hopefully) stop bullying, I hope they realize the huge mistake they made by bullying such a sweet friend.

I went to a few mentors just like that as a kid, elders always cared in my case and for the same reason, it takes a lot guts and I have no regrets.
