Would really appreciate such podcasts about the overall analysis of our heroes like Air Marshal Asghar Khan and Air Marshal Noor Khan, not only about their contributions on the battle fields but also highlighting their leadership skills, personal and professional integrities plus their success stories about reaching the apex with regards to their non military professions, since our upcoming generations deserve to understand that even an individual can make a difference if he or she has an uncompromising soul.
I dont know how bad was Zia. In my opinion participating in Afghan-Soviet war was the only solution Pakistan had. Soviet could have invaded us after conquering Afghanistan.
I disagree. The Soviets wouldn't have invaded if Pakistan would have played safe and maintained good relationship with the US and the USSR. Participation in the Afghan-Soviet war was futile because in the end, Pakistan got nothing other than a huge influx of refugees from war torn Afghanistan and decades later, we feel threatened by the Talibans, the very group we supported in the war. According to my research, the Soviets were invited into the country by the then Afghan government. In the end, my views are that not separating the state from religion would lead to catastrophic consequences and we only have to look at the history. Europe fell into the dark age after Rome was sacked by the Barbarians and the Church took the reins. Muslims prospered because they learned about everything, even if it went against Islam.
Zia was dictator no doubt but he wasn't a coward like dictators of today who hide behind the guise of kings party while running the strings from behind.. Atleast Zia didn't abduct and imprisoned women.. Yes he was a dictator and did catastrophic decisions
