Great review! We bought 2 of these a month ago and we love them. Heavy though, also still big when folded. Although we get both in our Hyundai Tuscan and we can now take these bikes when towing the caravan. The power is amazing and the ride position is good. So far so great!

Great bike Scott, I was in love with this frame on the 16AH Engine Pro $1399 and the 12.8AH Polarna M4 $1199... I ended up getting it on the 12.8AH EUY Auloor $799 ! ! ! Totally love this suspension!
Great video Scott, very informative and detailed. I like this Engwe pro bike a lot and I am looking to buy one and looking at lots of reviews and bikes, this is definitely shortlisted as one of my favourites so far.
Agree with you on torque, but there is things they need fix, those default crank shafts are very bad quality, a lot people, myself included lost one pedal just after few weeks of riding cause those threads will be eaten away and then your pedal will just fall to ground one day. Also must mention those fenders, they are awful, making sounds when you drive and a lot of people had accidents with them by fender coming loose and wedging on wheel making biker crash, luckily had no accidents but removed fenders because of noise they make. Also would be nice to have an actual full gas throttle on RIGHT side of handlebars, not thumb one on WRONG side :)
This is the updated version. they changed how the fender are now, mine do not go down and touch the frame as the old ones did. They also make no noise at all (you would have heard it in the video). I haven't put enough miles on it to experience the crank/pedal issue but I am hoping they had also fixed that with this new mode. Did you know you can replace your thumb throttle for a half twist throttle. I have seen a couple of YT videos on how to do it.
Is that the blue color? Looks stunning, hopefully i will buy this bike in a few days... My Life would be so much easy, i had a bike before and it was only 250w, cant wait to try the 750w power
Hey. Thanks so much for the insightful review, I’m looking at e-bikes and trying to find 1 that will cover all the bases I’m looking for. This 1 seems to be good curious to see if parts are easy to get for it. That being said great review and thanks for being so in-depth.

@alankerrigan It has been great. No regrets. Battery life is dependable. I commute to work which is about 12 miles total to and and from. But overall I am happy with my purchase. Would recommend 👌

Hi i noticed you never mentioned the engine pro has battery regeneration, iv seen on other videos works really well, maybe you could do a feature on this?
I do mentioned it... twice. I talk about how it is not really helpful and doesn't work in my situation. Unless I am riding down a mountain doing over 20mph and applying the brake, it's not going to regenerate at all. Even then, the power it would put back to the battery is not enough to make a difrerence. It's a great idea but it falls way short in reality.
Yeah I hear you horses for courses I guess, if we're not doing hills up and down constantly it has very little input, I was impressed on one video I watched the guy go up this mountain and it fully regenerated on the way back down, so guess yes it's an excellent idea to have but not a deciding factor on purchasing, thanks 👍
Awesome review, love all the different PAS and speed/range tests. I'm a big guy too at 220 lbs and it get frustrating seeing reviews by guys at 160 lbs all the time.
To be honest, I don't like this company. I purchased the same model one year ago, which had a 13 AH battery and a different display that didn't show the accurate percentage of battery. The display always showed a high level between 50% and 100%, and dropped drastically when the battery level was below 50%. This made it difficult for me to estimate the real battery level. Additionally, their customer service is very poor. When my moving company broke the display, I contacted them to get a replacement, but I never received the package. I have been waiting for over 6 months! Overall, the basic specs of the ebike may be great, but it fails to satisfy me.
I haven't had the chance to see about their customer support as I have not had any issues with either of the Engwe bikes, but it's always good to hear from those who have dealt with it. Sorry to hear about your issues with them and I hope I don't have to use customer support. They did a lot of updates to the new model as you can see and I don't feel like I have had the same issues that you have had so far. They did get beat up a lot about that older version that's why they updated it.
I bought the newest version of the engine pro few months ago and I had a problem with the kickstand. After sending some emails with videos and photos about what the problem was, they just told me that I will receive a replacement for the kickstand, and the problem was solved. So yeah maybe I've been lucky with that or the costumer service has change idk. And yes what you mentioned about the percentage of the battery feels the same in the new model
Thank you for your comprehensive reviews. I truly appreciate all the hard work you do. This really helps me - who is so overwhelmed about choosing an e-bike. I plan to get back to Chicago asap and this review was splendid about what factors I need to consider in a purchase. Big hugs 🫂 😊!
Thanks for the ride.i liked that you didnt sugar coat the hill tests.i think the softer launch is a good idea over and above too fast a launch.why? The rider is less liable to take chancey take offs and getting killed or injured ,this is not a negative, its a positive, limitations are a benefit in this case.,i think the hill tests are a negative re low initial torque through out the range?bike is tough looking, inspires confidence, fat tyres great for additional ride comfort.less rolling resistance and better torque results in skinnier smoother treaded tyres, less weight carrying capacity and firmer ride, but better performance and better range, and higher speeds .thanks for a great review.
Great review! I really like the added visualizations like the stopping distance metric or folded bike dimensions, well done. I have the same bike for a year now and Im really happy with its performance. I have to say on a fully charged battery the speeds are a bit higher😀
I have a Vanpowers Manidae; very quick and solid. I originally wanted a foldable, but couldn't stand the styles or ride. However, at the right price and options, this Enguie is intriguing.
I also have a Vanpowers Manidae, it's been at the bike shop for a couple of months now. The front fork seized and I can't get Vanpowers to send me a new fork. They have asked me to find a fork and put it on and they will pay for it, but we are not able to find a fork that works without replacing the front rim as well. At this point, I just told them to send me a new Manidae. Their customer service is clearly not the greatest as I now have a bike I haven't been able to ride since last year. The bike only has 53 miles on it. I hope you don't have an issue with yours.
I'm shocked that it was still delivering so much assistance at such a low battery level. I've never experienced that in any e-bike brand. Too bad ghost pedaling is my single biggest pet peeve! Awesome review for an awesome e-bike.
I really like your video, easy to follow and understand 😂I only have one gripe my height,I’m only 5’4 so that seat being able to be lowered is perfect, great job.
Nice video and test but the reason why its kicking off slowly is because you are not using the gears correct it should be in number 4 or 5 when you are starting off and then when you hit 10 mph you switch to 6 and you keep doing that until its hitted gear 8 and if you do that you will have a much smoother ride
I'm puzzle as to why you pretty much ignored the regenerative braking feature on this bike. I mean you did mention it but just barely. You could have demonstrated it on that hill that ride up and down multiple times or on the range test you could have turned it on to extend your range whenever you coasted on a slope. Its flat terrain where you live but extremely hilly where I live which is why I'm considering buying this bike. As much hill climbing as I have to do I wanted to know if the regen feature would help out some of that power back on the downhills. I have a 350w class1 ebike already but it barely helps on the steep hills around here. A throttle is not an option on my bike either.
I personally don't feel you get enough regeneration from the bike to make a valid reason on why someone would purchase it. I also do live in the mountains or someplace where I can coast down a hill for miles just to get a little juice. I did some research before this review and hadn't seen a single review showing that it was a benefit.
Thanks Jim. I like them both. I do like how a cadence sensor is more just a “plug and play” type setting. You know in PAS 3 you are going to go a certain speed. But, with a torque sensor, I feel you are more connected with the bike and can control how fast you go by how hard you pedal. I’m just blessed to have both.
Great review as usual. This looks like a great bike at a great price. This is really the first bike that I have seen you review that makes me think a little about my Aventure 2 purchase.
@@scotthardesty Thanks for the response. Yeah no regrets on my A2, I love it and Aventon customer service has been great. I have not had any big issues but they have been very responsive. Seems like they are really trying to build a community around their product and I appreciate that too. But the A2 is pretty big and bulky this foldable with the options that it has at this price, would be a fun backup.
Which one you think is more suitable for long day of work (I'm food delivery guy) Will you advise me please between this bike and that electric scooter from ausom ?
I would say this bike. I dig that scooter but would not want to use it for food delivery. With the Engine Pro, you can attach the food bag to the back. You can't do that with the scooter.
@@scotthardesty many of the ebikes from China use thicker tubing in the racks, maybe in US it's different but in UK most of the market pannier bags are made to fit onto a thinner tube section, so it's seems to be common problem unless you buy the official bag from manufacturer, which is a pain if you already own a few bags
Not sure. For some reason, I feel some people were able to remove the throttle completely and it still worked. I am in a couple Engwe facebook groups. Maybe you can find your answer in one of those.
I have now subscribed to this brilliant channel as it is very informative. I would definitely love to win this bike but I reckon i do not stand a chance since I live in England. But hey i can dream can’t I ? 👍🏽
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. The helmet is the giveaway, not the bike, so if that company ships to the UK and you win, it could be possible!
I took my new Engine Pro out today and the bike went 23 Miles and had 20% battery left then went instantly to 0% battery and died. I thought I would still have 5-10 miles left but NOPE. Instantly dead. My other ebike will go 5 miles in low power mode when the battery shows 0. Probably returning this one, maybe I just got a lemon?
When I tested this bike I took it until the battery was drained. Since I added the distance in this review, I have not done another distance test with it.
@@dtz1000 True, We all know pedaling the bike with PAS would get me up the hill, so I wanted to test it out without pedaling to see if it would make it.
I understand how it works . But unless your in Kansas, in the middle of no where why do you want to go more then 8 miles per hour ? It’s a bike . Not a motor cycle .
What is your body weight , this can make a difference for riders, obviously a lighter person will be better results and a heavier person get lesser results.
Do you really think in China where they design and manufacture most of these e bikes, had someone like Yau Ming come in and test the 6 foot 9 inches over limit for height?... So they had a 6'8" guy say its an "ALL GO" and a 6'9"+ guy like nope "NOGO" bikes too small for me lol. These height ranges just are too funny. Most guys around 6'4" say its pushing limits..6'8".. No Way..
I prefer honest ( not paid for /sponsered ) reviews .. Of course it gets high praises , It's sales gimmick . meanwhile in the real world . So many problems with the bike and even worse customer services . Would I purchase another Engwe bike ? . Hell no . I would sooner pay more and get a decent bike with proper customer services
Spot on the money all these freebie vids are the same it’s the best thing sliced bread ! Come on let’s be real no reviewer getting free hand outs is going to bite the hand that feeds them
I can only go off what I know. When I reviewed this bike, this is what I found good with it. Now.... If I would have kept it and put 1k miles on it, that might be a different story. I have no issue saying what sucks about a bike. You should see the Engwe X26 video.
Sounds like you should start doing "honest" reviews. If I would have had an issue with this bike I would have said it and shown it on film. You should see the issues I had with the Engwe X26. The bike performed excellent... now, if I put 1k miles on it, then I am sure this review would be different, but I can only give an "honest" view at the time of reviewing the bike.
@@scotthardesty true but giving a review after what 10 miles isn’t really a challenge! Might as well just take it out the box and say yep it’s great sorry but like all these freebie TH-camrs the reviews all suck and are just utter crap personally I wouldn’t even trust anything they state
@@grumpygrandpa3640 Sorry man. Don't have time to own a bike for a year before review it. Like I said... maybe you should be doing reviews. Thanks for watching!
This bike's a rip-off for $1400 and only 55nm of torque, might as well be a 500W motor...you can get a dual suspension 1000W motor with about 75-90nm of torque for less than a grand now.
Actually it is not. I saw other reviews where it said 80Nm. and in the notes they sent me said it was 55Nm.. so I reached back out to Engwe and they CONFIRMED that its only 55Nm. Even their website says its 55Nm. They also asked me who is saying its 80Nm and wanted me to send the links to the videos.
@@scotthardesty Wonder how of you TH-camrs are right. This guy also claims he talked to Engwe and got that Engwe Pro has 80nm nd the EP 2 pro has 55. Some differences must it be if this video is real th-cam.com/video/UapoVtYPJpY/w-d-xo.html
@@RutgerJonaker Check Engwe's website, they say the Engine Pro only has 55Nm. Not sure what these other guys do or say but I know I am right. Also, if the Engine Pro had 80Nm of torque, it would have had no issues during my hill test.
I totally understand. Unfortunately, I have too many bikes to ride them all a ton of miles to see if they will fall apart. I had someone who wanted to buy this from me, but before I sold it to them, I did put it on a mtb trail to see if would survive.
Interesting. The only time I had an issue with this bike, I reached out to customer support and they got me the part I needed. Seemed pretty easy to me. Since then, this bike has been riding like a champ and given no issues.

Can it be fitted with wider bars and still fold comfortably?
The length of the handlebars would not prevent it from folding. So yeah, you can switch out the handlebars.
Chicago❤ I’m from there grass looks like south side Sox fan?
I don't follow any sports, so not a Sox fan. Nor a Cubs fan.
I really like your video, easy to follow and understand 😂I only have one gripe my height,I’m only 5’4 so that seat being able to be lowered is perfect, great job.
Thanks for watching!
Nice video and test but the reason why its kicking off slowly is because you are not using the gears correct it should be in number 4 or 5 when you are starting off and then when you hit 10 mph you switch to 6 and you keep doing that until its hitted gear 8 and if you do that you will have a much smoother ride
I can see how that would be better.
@scotthardesty The more I looked into it, after writing this post, the more I'm beginning to agree with you. Like it's just a marketing ploy.
@@jacobhall2290I thought Scott showed this wasn’t a great bike for hills. What bike did you decide on?
Does the regen give any retard effect? (engine braking)@@scotthardesty
Way more useful info that ither videos I have watched on this bike. Wish this one came in the dark orange collor.
Thank you! I like to think I create some of the most thorough ebike reviews on TH-cam.
@@scotthardestyno one ever really explained the pedal assist thing the way you did. I didn't even know you could set the watts and stuff like that.
@@chuckfinley5206 I'm glad I was able to help you understand! Thanks for watching!
Scott, great video. Off topic question for you. What are your thoughts between cadence and torque sensors?
@@scotthardesty Thank you for your reply!
@@jimbomaz of course Jim. Thanks for the support!
Is worth to invest in the EnginePro instead Engine-X , do you think theres too much difference between Engine Power?
I have never reviewed the Engine-X. Maybe someone will see your comment who is familiar with the Engine X and can answer that question.
The throttle is on the left? That's crazy
I am used to it on the left but I believe you can move it to the right if you want.
Would be good to know how far you get on eco mode pedal assist.
Maybe there is a video of someone doing that.
Great review as usual. This looks like a great bike at a great price. This is really the first bike that I have seen you review that makes me think a little about my Aventure 2 purchase.
Thank you! I was also surprised by this bike myself. I do like how my A2 rides better than this one.
I'm considering a folding bike to road trip with. My main bike is great but it is big and heavy
This one weights 68lbs but it will give you all the performance of your big bike for sure, maybe even more.
Scott, can you please add a link to the bag you used
I got you buddy. amzn.to/3N5ltmJ
I love my engwe engine pro bike, best ever 🎉
It's a solid bike! Thanks for watching!
They say Lectric is the value leader but this looks to beat them in the features to price ratio.
I have not yet had the privilege of reviewing a Lectric bike yet.
Nice review, I live in Chicago any chance your selling this bike?
I want to do another video with it but yes, I will be selling it.
@@scotthardesty ok 👍 let me know. Im interested in it, thanks
@@scotthardestyHmmm… this may be the most important part of the review. 😅
Great review. :-) I have an Engwe Engine Pro, and I love it. Great bike! :-)
Right on!
Looks ok. Should be sub 1k tho
I'm sure you can get a nice used one for that.
The necessity to leave key in the frame under the bike is very annoying. Also the rack doesn't take normal pannier bags as tubing is thicker
hmmmm... My bag fit just fine. I get what you mean about the key though.
@@shughy1 I guess I got lucky as I have been able to fit my trunk bag on every rear rack so far.
Is it possible to disable the throttle, because it's illigale in belgium without a drivers license
Not sure. For some reason, I feel some people were able to remove the throttle completely and it still worked. I am in a couple Engwe facebook groups. Maybe you can find your answer in one of those.
Do you need a key to remove the battery ? I'd hate to leave parked and someone can just unfold it and take the battery, those are very expensive
Yes. You need a key to remove the battery.
@scotthardesty thanks for letting me know, much appreciated
@@20Kilogram Glad to help!
What is the total weight including the battery?
th-cam.com/video/uWuJNHH3Mpc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=E-P7j59DZKucqjtw&t=59
I’m torn between this Engwe and the Aniioki. Do you have an opinion?
Unfortunately, I have not been able to review Aniloki. If I had I would totally be able to give my opinion.
Is it totally depleting all power because that really shortens lithium ion battery life
Yeah, I know, but someone has to test them. I don't make it a common thing. Doing it once won't shorten it that much.
Вышла новинка Engine Pro 2.0, уже заказал. 😎
Ich werde den Engine Pro 2 bald testen.
How many miles can it go at 28 MPH?
I would assume that it wouldn't go as far as it did when I reviewed it.
Can the bike go on a trail with roots a ruts without losing control or safety issues?
I don't know, but I plan on finding out.
Here is the answer to your question. th-cam.com/video/7cKrNYfD8tY/w-d-xo.html
How do take of the battery
Once the bike is folded, you can use your key to unlock the battery and remove it.
How does it perform on hills that aren't grass
I did a mtb test with this bike, it had some "non grass" hills. th-cam.com/video/7cKrNYfD8tY/w-d-xo.html
Great review Scott! Pretty decent bike for the price!
Agreed!
Even on my custom 1000w Cannondale, when maxed out, I still want an extra cog or two..... great video, never thought of a folding e bike before 😁
I totally get it when it comes to that extra cog or two. Thanks for watching!
Can’t see downtown what way r you going?
I went south once I hit the lake front trail.
There is two version of this bike so?? L20 and L20 se ?
I only know about the Engwe Engine Pro so unfortunately, I have no comment on the L20 and L20 se.
That definitely didn't happen to me (as you saw), something must be wrong.
What a great place to ride a bike,
I know, I get to ride it daily if desired. I do appreciate how lucky I am with all these great trails.
What is the farthest you've gone before battery hits zero? I would have a 33 mile round trip to work and wonder if I'd make it back home.
When I tested this bike I took it until the battery was drained. Since I added the distance in this review, I have not done another distance test with it.
Course you could make it home pedal it back
@@neilwiddison6529 the goal is to NOT pedal it for miles without power.
It will easily do more than 40 miles if you just stick to pedal assist only and are.of.avrage weight.
Bring the charger to work.
It is great for going forward but when U come to hills it sucks and better walk then because U have to carry it
I had no issue going up the hill here... although, a Chicago hill is not big considering other areas.
He wasn't pedalling, that's why. When you pedal then it easily gets up any hill.
It's not a motorcycle. You are working with a 1 horsepower motor basically. Add a little human power and it can get up anything.
@@dtz1000 True, We all know pedaling the bike with PAS would get me up the hill, so I wanted to test it out without pedaling to see if it would make it.
Just bought one right now
I hope it serves you well and you enjoy it.
Fw11 and victrip both will double the battery size 32 amp vs this 16amp for same price $1400
That sounds awesome.
Good ebike but torque are a bit low. Probably need something like 85 Nm to be satisfied
85Nm would be nice for sure.
I understand how it works . But unless your in Kansas, in the middle of no where why do you want to go more then 8 miles per hour ? It’s a bike . Not a motor cycle .
In Chicago, sometimes it's best to keep up with traffic. I would not want a bike that would only 8mph. That's my personal opinion of course.
I'm sorry that has to be the dumbest location for a key to be for that bike like really undernet where you can't see it
At first would check it to keep seeing if it would fall out. It didn't.
Any one from uk bought this?
There are some reddit group and Engwe FB groups that might be able to answer your questions.
What is your body weight , this can make a difference for riders, obviously a lighter person will be better results and a heavier person get lesser results.
yeah, I have done a ton of reviews and I sometimes forget to mention this. I am 5'9" and weight 225lbs. add another 18 bag and equipment.
I don't like the throttle on the left.
I am used to it on the left but I believe you can move it to the right if you want.
No Way..
I totally understand. hahaha. 6'9" would be pushing it for sure.
my 2023 version has Shimano Altus gears...oh my factory charger is 3A and the charging time is just over four hours...

Looks like they come with different parts.
Super transportation
I was surprised by it for sure.
This bike's a rip-off for $1400 and only 55nm of torque, might as well be a 500W motor...you can get a dual suspension 1000W motor with about 75-90nm of torque for less than a grand now.
Thanks for watching and your input.
You got turf grass? lol
Sure do. We used to have 4 dogs that trashed out the back yard. Hard to grow grass when their urine kept it brown. Now it looks amazing all year long.
@@scotthardesty it looks nice tough . I think grass should be abolished lol
@@Taduuuu I still hand to mow the small front yard which always looks terrible.
its actually 80NM not 55NM as you said
Actually it is not.

Almost 1500 bucks for a folding ebike that only has 55Nm of torque and a charger that's
Fair enough!
Done with Chinese made bikes. Break down all the time this why we don’t see followup reviews
I totally understand. Unfortunately, I have too many bikes to ride them all a ton of miles to see if they will fall apart. I had someone who wanted to buy this from me, but before I sold it to them, I did put it on a mtb trail to see if would survive.
