Congrats on finishing the series, it's certainly had its ups and downs. But overall, it's a decent journey to go through.
    So to defend the game:
    1) You can't cut off her leg when you mention, right after the bite. They were in the open, in the woods, surrounded by walkers. As shown by Lee in S1, it's impossible to be silent during an amputation. As soon as they chopped off her leg, both Clem and AJ would be dead as her screams would attract all the nearby walkers, with Clem unable to move (and AJ not strong enough to carry her). There was also no way to cauterize the wound.
    2) Surprisingly, Minnie actually saved Clem's life. Clem suffered a giant 30-40cm gash on her leg next to the bite. This resulted in blood loss in her leg - and more importantly, above the bite, massively delaying the spread of the infection to her heart and subsequently around her whole body. This extended the amputation window.
    3) Clem in the barn may appear to be looking infected, but it's the blood loss that's causing her pale complexion and eye appearance. It's similar to S1 if you amputate Lee's arm - Lee looks different if his arm isn't amputated, much more like a walker as he dies from the infection. If you amputate the arm, he looks less like a walker, implying he died from blood loss rather than the infection. Lee also waited way longer before amputating than Clem, he'd already been passing out from the infection before the amputation meaning he was too late with his amputation. Bite location is important too - the wrist will spread to the heart far faster than an ankle bite (even without a heavily bleeding wound above the bite).
    4) If you look around the barn, you can see the tools needed for a successful amputation and to get Clem back to Erikson. He had plenty of metallic materials to use to cauterize, and there was a wheelbarrow which is what he used to take Clem back to the school after she passed out from the pain of the amputation. But that doesn't explain how AJ dispatched or evaded the walkers outside the barn.
    5) The game very poorly suggests there's much more time passed after the bite, until the amputation than there actually is. Due to the bite happening when it's dark (right before dawn), and it begining to be daylight when they reach the barn, it looks like hours have passed. But according to the Devs, it's only like 20-30minutes after the bite that the amputation occurs. With the blood loss, that should be fine. But it was cheap of the Devs to give the impression that more time has passed to contribute to the tacky fake out.
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think the game handled the ending in a properly satisfying way. Like you, I felt so uncomfortable/angry playing most of the last section too thinking "how?!?" "why?!?!" "wtf?!?". Then I felt duped and like you, felt the amputation was too late. But on reflection, it doesn't necessarily break the lore - but still felt a bit cheap and mishandled.
I do think it's 100% due to Telltale's closure. Telltale folded during this games production, almost immediately after the 2nd episode released meaning the last 2 episodes took over 7 months to release. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be 5 episodes instead of 4, but they definitely rushed these episodes and the writing suffered as a result. Not the entire team came back to finish the game, just a small portion of the staff were brought in when Skybound bought the rights to finish the game. Which is a real shame.
On to your episode, in your story, James lived as your post game screen doesn't say he died. In mine he died (through a choice in ep3). Interestingly, everyone who died in your final episode, can survive (Lily, Violet etc), and everyone who survived your playthrough, can also die in this episode (Louis, Tenn, James etc). This is very different from previous seasons and maybe this ambition from Telltale was the reason for the writing suffering. S2 could have Jane dead, Kenny dead, or both dead. S3 could have David, Kate and Gabe all die or survive. But this season having like 6 or 7 characters able to die or survive was maybe more than they could handle.
I agree with your closing thoughts about Kenny. He too is my favourite non-playable character in the series as I feel he was the best written with the most growth (even moreso than Javi who we played as). I also got the shitty Kenny death in S3 which is a bummer - but had to happen as they wrote themselves into a corner with all the possible endings in S2. My head cannon is leaving Kenny to go to Wellington at the end of S2, that way he wanders off alone and could still be alive out there somewhere.
Anyway, congrats on finishing the game. It was certainly a rollercoaster. Some great character moments throughout the seasons, with some really poor pieces of writing sprinkled in too. But overall, not terrible. Imo, I think they should've stopped after S2 and left Clementine's story alone from that point on. Then fully commit to new characters if wanting to continue stories in TWD universe.
I'm looking forward to your dredge Playthrough, I just started playing it last weekend and it's great so far 👌🏻

Thank you for sharing your thoughts Chris! I did read up a bit on the amputation stuff and the writers' intent for this episode, and I guess it does make some sense in retrospect, even though in the moment I really felt like it didn't lol but like you said, it does come off a bit like they're trying to dupe you as a cheap last minute scare that they're killing off Clem, but I guess I can respect the attempt at a big dramatic finale. It's just hard not to be angry playing that section under the impression that she's about to give her life for AJ. It would have been realistic but very frustrating for players lol
It's a real shame that the studio went through so many problems during development, the game and devs deserved better and years down the line, players like me only have the finished product to judge, without knowledge of all that went on behind the scenes. Despite everything though, I do think it was a very engaging and entertaining story, with some weakers moments throughout. Thanks for being on the journey with me, and see you in Dredge! :)

About the thing with the leg, it was too obvious. They had to wait. Also, this rule about cutting members sooner or later, we don't know it. It's not a rule. She young and strong and maybe that was enough to survive.
Are you a doctor? Do you know how the zombie spore really works? Do you know something about alien spores and their effect on human bodies? No? Then take what you are given xD.
In my first playthrough I was angry but not so angry. I was expecting Clem to die from the start so it didn't come to me as a surprise. I was relying more on AJ I suppose.
Maybe I am wrong but I think that your emotional response validates their choice. That's what they were going for. Maybe not such a strong reaction but there there.
*About the strength AJ has, it depends on how sharp the axe is. It could work because it's an axe. He doesn't need too much strength, just enough to get it up. Then the weight of the axe could do the rest. It was made to cut through trees. A leg is not so bad I think.
Overall we have to admit that AJ's young age kind of forces us to keep our suspension of disbelief. His father was a very intelligent guy, but even then, AJ is too intelligent. He is a freaking genius for his age, very mature and phisically strong. We have to take that, because it's the premise for the game. If we dont, nothing works here from the start. From the first episode.
Anyway, I have a niece that is 2 years old and it's already faster than me, talks pretty well (we have conversations), so now I don't think it's so impossible as I used to believe. To me it's not different that accepting that dead people are walking around. It's a premise, once you accept it, it just starts working.

Lily, James, Violet, Tenn and Clem can live or die depending on your choices. Maybe there's some other character but I don't remember.

As another person has already said, you can't chop off a leg so easily in the middle of a forest and surrounded by walkers. You're not the first youtuber to shout at the screen about amputation, but specifically in Clem situation, it's suicide. It is better to go to another place and solve the problem in safety than to scream in agony in the forest without being able to walk after that or even cauterize the wound.

Yeah lol in the moment I was a bit too tunnel visioned on the amputation

Hey! :)❤(SPOILERS FOR END'N) Good job and I agree about him not being able to get her out of the Barn or that she would have probably gotten infected from the bloody walker axe. But since Minnie Cut a giant gash in her leg; which is bleeding out, causing the gray skin and bloodshot looking eyes? Maybe. Also since you got Vit on the same leg and Pretty Low On the foot, the infection probably couldn't travel up into her bloodstream??? But she probably would have died from but lost so there is no win-win :/ ❤

Sure, kids get to change a lot of times in their lives. But think of... digimon. Have you played digimon some time?
In their most basic form, just after birth, there are only a very small amount of digimon. Let's say there are 3 or something like that. At that point each onf of them can be almost anything. But after every evolution, there's some possibilities that are left behind. There's something it will never be able to become. It can still be a lot of different creatures. But the possibilities are reduced with every new jump.
The first jump is important too.
*In digimon you can always go back and try something else. You can't do that with kids.

I definitely don't think TWD TTG is bad, I disliked the ending tricking you too, but it was definitely fun. After finding you through Inscryption and again for Subnautica, I had to watch you play all the TWD series and loved seeing what you did. It was fun, and I know I enjoyed it.
For the leg thing, I think she was okay because she didn't get to the point where she passed out like Lee did. I think that's supposed to be the point of no return, though he didn't get all jaundiced until much later than that, and she got jaundiced very quickly - could just be them trying to psyche you out but I THINK the rule they were trying to follow is "you can be saved so long as you don't pass out" because that's when the virus has spread too much. But that's just what I think.

It was not the best approach to the ending, and your reaction was definitely understandable. I was much more suspicious than angry while playing through it, so it made me detach from the story like you did, though to a lesser extent. An ending that kept the player engaged the whole time would've been stronger. But even with its ending and weak moments, I think the series was an enjoyable and certainly memorable experience. The writing, while not the greatest of all time, is overall quite solid, so I don't understand why it has so many haters. There are many games with imo worse writing that get praised a lot more.
Thanks for playing the entire series, especially knowing that it doesn't get as many views! I've really enjoyed reliving all the episodes and seeing your honest reactions. It felt like such a long but fun journey!

The greatest mistake in this playthrough was to not trust AJ. I think you were thinking with your "real" brain. You were being realistic. But if you thought a little bit about the theme of the game, you would have noticed that AJ needed validation (which by the way, it's the main thing for kids in real life, the situation was not well thought to be translated into real life). Without your validation, you put him in a place of doubt that could (and did) kill others and put him in danger.
Tenn would have died and Violet would have been saved. I like Violet much more than Tenn. Tenn is doomed. He can't survive in this world. Not without a lot of help. He has had so many mistakes during the game... (I mean Tenn).
That choice combined with a few others could have made that AJ didn't save Clem at the end. You were close to that. Just imagine what a fucked up playthrough it would have been XD
But it was pretty exciting. So in the end everything was cool.

I know what you're saying, but there's no way I'd ever trust a 5 year old kid with matters of life and death lol even though they don't really have a choice in this messed up world, I just can't

Thank you for the playthrough! I found your channel when you started playing Outer Wilds, which means just a week after you had finished Season 1 of The Walking Dead, but I'm glad I was able to witness the rest of your journey. I had and still have very mixed feelings about the Final season, and I remember being super pissed off playing this episode just like you, even though it was for a completely different reason. In my playthought, Violet was my love interest, so having her alive was my top priority, and of course she died on the bridge. I Alt+F4ed instantly, but it was useless as the desision that led to her death was, like, 30 minutes ago, which, in my opinion, is just crappy game design. I had to start the episode again and it was very frustrating, because my old laptop could barely handle the game at 15-20 fps, and the bow segments were extremely difficult because of that.
I was okay with Clem dying though, but I didn't like the ending either. I think it is because the writers didn't follow the logic of the story, but rather what the players wanted and what they expected. George Martin once said there are two types of writers, architects and gardeners, you can look it up, but my point is, this particular story felt forced. It feels like it was constructed, rather than told organically. I still think S4E01 is one of the best episodes of The Walking Dead (and I love S4E02 just as much).
On a completely unrelated note, I just noticed how much the episodes' intros remind me of intros from Sam & Max, and it totally makes sense 😂

Oooh yeah I can see how you got mad at that, that's the danger of getting attached to anyone in the Walking Dead! they all gotta go sooner or later.... can't fault the game for having choices that lead to consequences further down the line, but I get your frustration! Thank you for watching my videos for so long!
