I'm glad you got to a more interesting ending than just "everyone is doing great". There's just a few ways to make everyone survive, but a lot of ways where that's not the case. Makes the playthrough more unique, even if having the good ending is obviously the best from our protagonists' perspectives :D
I'm pretty sure Alice is a deviant. I think she must have been in order to leave her owner Todd. My theory is that she's a deviant before we even meet her in this game (maybe turned due to Todd's abuse 🥲).
I'm just not sure how an android child following its programming is even supposed to act? it's easy when the android's job is "cleaning lady" or "hot dog salesman" but what about "just be a child" lol yknow? but I guess being scared of your dad and wanting to run away is a bit too much for a non deviant so you may well be right about that!
SPOILERS FOR THE VIDEO BELOW Wow. I can't believe you got literally all of the protagonists killed lol. I've never seen anyone get an ending that bad without trying to. And you picked the only option (sacrifice) that gets Marcus killed. Most people sing from what I've seen.
😭😭 To be fair, unless you steal the tickets, it seems easy for Kara to get caught, I could have used the Luther distraction, but I was really trying to get everyone out safely without him dying. When it comes to Markus, I thought maybe "sacrifice" meant he was at least going to save the others, but then they all just die lol. And then Connor seems to die no matter what if Markus isn't there..... really all went terribly lol
@LukaelPlays I won't say too much in case you're (hopefully?) planning to react to some of the other endings, but there were many alternatives to what happened with Kara. The one you got is one of the few where she dies immediately with no chance of escape.
Wow the first ending you got was so dark I have never seen someone get the Markus dies ending lol. Im glad you went back and got the perfect ending! Do you plan on doing a reaction maybe on the different endings or a new playtrough?
@@nayjer2576 I think it's considered to be the "best" ending by the community. Kara leaves to Canada with no sacrifice and Luther alive, Connor becomes deviant and hugs Hank at the end and Markus "wins" for the moment with peaceful demonstartion and all of his friends live (Josh, Simon, North)
That Kara ending is a new one for me. Seen people lose her earlier or later but thats the first time Ive seen someone not steal the tickets. Props to you for doing the right thing. And darn that choice of music when you got the blue screen… I was doing so well and you had to go remind me that P5 exists. Now I want to replay it again but I have soo many other games to play.
If you keep connor as he was made to work hanks ending not as ... good I wont spoil it but it makes things different!! Hes also the only one that cant really "die" since he comes back. But the others can and it changes your ending a lot.
God I love your channel and you in particular. Really looking for your Disco Elysium playthrough. It's my favorite game of all time. Yeah, of course Cyberlife knew. Kamski knew too, though I belive they have different objectives. Cyrberlife very obviously want to control the country and they already have Warren in their pocket. And uprising of androids would just do that, since only they would be able to control them, or so they thought. I believe this is also why Connor is let into Cyberlife tower so easily. But then again, they do try to stop him, which is weird... Kamski wanted to return to position of CEO, and he does in one ending. He had an exit plan planted in Connor's programm that Cyberlife didn't account for. Anyways, thanks for this playthrough. Really hoping to see more of DE soon. It's *much* better in terms of narrative. Though I really enjoy Detroit too. Because of the reasons you said. Themes of AI and detective, it does feel specifically tailored for me too :D It does have it weak moments, but there are a lot of great ones. And they managed to do so your choices actually matter, which is not the case in a lot of similar games (khe, khe, Telltale)
Also important to note that Cyberlife stands to benefit from both scenarios. If Connor remains a machine and gets to destroy Markus - they saved the day
Thanks! 😄 yeah I'm interested to see some of the other paths and endings possible! it does make sense that Cyberlife knew a lot more than they were letting on.... like you said, choices mattered a lot more in Detroit than Walking Dead lol (though I still enjoyed both)
Wow dude, that was some great entertainment 😂 quite a few scenes I've not seen in any of my playthroughs - like Kara dying at the terminal, or the Marcus sacrifice. Wild stuff 😅 On to your "true" ending 😉, with the two Connors scene, I think it's in our Connor's delivery when answering about Cole that Hank picked up on. This is the first time Hank has actually met Connor as a deviant, so the delivery was tentative, empathetic, and somber - like a genuine human carefully talking about Cole. This is much like other moments before his deviancy where Connor expressed natural emotion when encountering "software instability", such as at Kamski's house. In these previous scenes, you could see in Hank's face that he was picking up on these sparks of real emotion, rather than the normal robotic simulated emotion from the early game. In terms of the bus tickets - I never feel guilty taking those tickets since I haven't had a violent Marcus run yet and have no plans to set off the bomb, meaning those humans will be fine. If however I was being a full revolutionary Marcus and planning to blow up Detroit, then taking those tickets could very well kill them. Also, I instantly recognised the female human from a scene you missed in your playthrough. During Marcus' first chapter (collecting the paints), if you walk past the protestors, they will physically assault Marcus, with this woman being one of the aggressors. So f**k that b***h 😆 It is entirely possible to still keep Kara and Alice alive even without taking the bus tickets (and without sacrificing Luther at the bus terminal). It involves the alternative (and illegal) river crossing of the border. It is however extremely difficult to keep everyone alive using that route, but definitely worth experiencing - and even if seeing a darker ending involving death, they are far more emotional, fleshed out and dramatic, than the really abrupt execution you saw at the bus terminal. I highly recommend exploring that version of Kara's story/ending. Now that you've finished your first playthrough. I highly recommend checking out all the videos in the extras gallery. They are great. You have around 1hr 20minutes of behind the scenes exploration, with interviews with the cast, crew, director, composers: as well as deep diving into the making of the game. It could be a good idea to watch them as a reaction video. In terms of replaying chapters for alternative paths. It's been a while since I personally played, but I think you can replay chapters from any position using the flowchart by selecting any choice and choosing that as a starting point. That way you don't need to play through full chapters to make alternative choices that don't appear until 20 or 30 minutes of gameplay. Anyway, great video dude. Really cool seeing some new fresh scenes, while also great that you got to experience the "everyone alive" ending too. That "no sacrifice" option is such a relief (only works with a peaceful Marcus approach). I remember my first playthrough and pausing on that decision for a solid 5 minutes stressing out about what to do 😅 I look forward to more D:BH videos soon
I'm glad I allowed people to see some new scenes 😅 I agree with your thoughts about Connor! Makes a lot of sense. I actually totally forgot that bomb thing with Markus... I guess now I can see why Kara is concerned about the people left behind at the bus station... something I'll have to explore in my next playthrough! Same with that river crossing business! Doing a reaction to the behind the scenes could be fun too! Maybe something for the final episode. Thanks for telling me about that!
Here's a question for ya. Would you still care about the androids being free and everything if they didn't have human-like bodies? What if they had huge sci-fi mech bodies instead? Or what if their same intelligence was in an immobile Alexa type shell?
I would yeah. (I mean if they had huge mech bodies there would maybe be a security concern lol) but overall, any entity that can demonstrably have consciousness, awareness, emotions, I would advocate for its rights to live and be free. Even if it was just a box. But their looking human definitely helps to feel a fellowship with them
I have seen so many playthroughs of this game and have never seen your first ending!! How interesting!! Edit after finishing haha. The error! It was a perfect timing but sort of hilarious. I'm sorry that happened though! I'm sad hank died in your second attempt but I get being curious about what happens with other choices. Hank has always been my favorite character. At least this way he gets to go and see Cole again! I really hope you enjoyed this game! I love it and I can't wait to see your Disco Elysium story unfold!! 🎉
As for the twist with Alice only being there to act as a twist... I think it's more a bridge to different possible ending scenarios. The scenario you can get when you can't escape the ship for example simply wouldn't make that much sense with Alice not being an Android. I don't want to spoil it so i'd just say test it out later after your Playthrough if you want. Edit: That was actually the first time that i've seen the security check on Kara at the bus station.
1:19:20 idk maybe you came to the same conclusion later but it always seemed to me that it wasn't as much about the facts as it was about the way he said it. You can say that Connor shown empathy to Hank here
No good deed goes unpunished. As Leshy would say, sacrifices must be made, but I like to think that last one where you chose to sacrifice rather than kiss north was pretty funny. Singing also would have been a good ending but I also agree more games should leave open slots for romantic partners or none.
I appreciate how clearly you can explain your thoughts on Alice, because for me I really struggle to make complete sense of why I had (and still have) such an immediate negative reaction to it. All I can add now is it seems a lot like the story needed her to be an android to up the stakes on whether Alice would be killed and to rule out Kara leaving Alice with humans for her safety. It still feels bad… but it makes sense if they had the ending in mind first.
My Marcus was mostly peaceful and my Connor went deviant. I want to try a replay with Marcus fully militant and keep Connor as machine to see the opposite approach.
It's been so long since my playthrough, but with kara if you watch from a distance you see they are doing temp checks at the bus station so i stayed away lol You do eventually find another way out without taking the bus tickets although it didn't go well for me only one of them survived. I had so many other things i wanted to try but i agree that having to do over so much of it is ridiculous i aint got time for that.
Wow, it's very interesting to see this different outcome. In my first playtrough I played pretty violent as markus and somehow everyone survived. But with some very dark twists, I don't wanna spoiler here. That's just my very personal opinion of course, but seeing this peacefull route, how understandable it is, just seems so wrong to me personally. The androids should fight for themselfes, even if it means killing soldiers. The public will also understand that you can't just let yourself get killed. And as in the androids perspective, there lifes of course matters much more then the opinion of the public. Especially if you think this in a possible real life perspective and not in a game perspective, where the public opinion is a variable. That's ofc just my opinion and I don't wanna offend anyone! But it's very nice to be able to talk and think about different perspectives I think. Btw., the game is really good in letting you think you screw everything up! But I really like it, it want's to questions your principles. The same with alice, the twist with her let you start thinking if androids are really that human, pretty devilsh by the game.
No worries, I think wanting to go a more violent revolution route with Markus is totally legitimate, because what the androids are going through is really horrible, and realistically it would be very unlikely for things to go in their favor by only acting peacefully... because it's a game and a fictional story you can sort of buy it, and I wanted to stick to my guns through the whole game, but I'm interested to see what happens if you go a different route!
