Do you know what the difference is between content creators and real sound engineers? This channel! Once again worth its weight in gold, showing all those mall grabs where it's at! Conan mate, thank you for showing this trick on the MPC 😎I luv' that I actually learn something new every time you release a video 📖🔖
Great content again. Going to have to try this. 👍. Something I was recently attempting with a vocal reverb was putting it on a send and mother ducking it with the original vocal so it’s out of the way while the vocal was playing to then fill the following space. I kept seeing a number of people show this in a DAW but wanted to see if it could work in the MPC. Haven’t quite finished it, and love the idea of potentially bouncing it to free up the send again. The more I can do in the MPC the better.
Yes ducking a send FX with the ducker is excellent. That plugin has so much potential and people tend to just look at it as ducking the bass or sample over a kick. I actually made a video about the multiple uses it has and was actually planning on doing one where it ducks the verb with a vocal, so good shout.
Today's lesson: Conan doesn't want you. He wants the can. In all seriousness, I'm getting inspired by your videos, C, and I am tempted to make a video focused on creating Dub Techno on the MPC. \o/
Certainly a timeless effect! Nice one!! Video idea for the future- can you do a live performance with the MPC? Be interested to know if this was an option or would it need link by up to Ableton….🤔 Keep em coming 🫡🎹🎬📽️
I'm getting reacquainted with the MPC workflow after a 28-year hiatus from a borrowed MPC-60 and your videos are a huge help, so thank you immensely. One question I have for you though: Where did you get those awesome knobs for your Retro Edition? Mpcstuff doesn't have those exact ones, but I really want a set of aluminum knobs for my One, especially the jog wheel with the finger indentation. Cheers!
The MPC can do everything what are you can do in a DAW like Ableton or Reason. You have only to know how. But, what do you think about the mixing possibilitys in 3.0. Thank you for the video
The new layout is definitely going to make navigating a mix easier, but that’s really the only big difference. It doesn’t make the MPC sound any different (despite what some people are saying lol), it’s just a new GUI. But as I said, I think it makes navigating a mix easier.
@@auralplex There were a few minor issues with programs etc but nothing massive. I think it depends on your workflow. Some people have been affected more than others.
You may have forgotten to flip the vocal in reverse first, then record it with reverb. I noticed, you mentioned it in 10:00. However, without the first flip it is a also a valid and very often used vocal trick. Great videos overall.
There’s definitely more than one way to do it, that’s what is so great about the MPC. This is how I’ve always done it to be honest. As long as it gets people thinking, then my work is done. Thanks for watching mate.
Man I’ve always wondered how this was accomplished, heard this technique for years and thought it was cool. What about reverb on just one word, or on specific snare hits, how was that accomplished back in the day? Did y’all just turn it on and then off?
Yes basically. Sometimes when printing to tape there would be three or four of us on the desk working faders, pans, FX, etc. It was like being in a band lol
@@TheCratesMotel See I’ve always felt that may have been the case because you hear things sometimes on recordings and it’s like how are they doing this at the same time!? Side note, I see Akai just released a second Beta for MPC 3. Looks like track mutes are back and some other features.

Oh and don't forget all the click bait "track mutes don't work/downgrading back to 2.0" people. This beta has really shown me how dumb people can be about using machinery and computers.
It's a blessed day when Conan uploads MPC content! Thank you so much and have a great day!
Thanks mate. It's a blessed day every day being part of this community.
Great video thank you, as a novice MPC user, its great to get ideas from videos like this, thank you.
You are welcome mate. Thank you for watching.
Ah nice, I actually always wondered how this was done. Thank you.
It is definitely one of those techniques that is handy to know.
Lovely sir, thank you

Do it!!! Do it mate. Get on it. 🙏🏼
Thanks!
You’re welcome mate 🙏🏼
Great video. You could accomplish pretty much the same thing by having the 1st original vocal sample play in Note Off mode.
Exactly mate. There’s always a bunch of ways to do things in the MPC, it’s one of the things I love.
-Reverse the ‘can’ sample
-apply reverb with long tail
-Resample
-reverse resampled sample
Yes there are multiple ways of doing it. That’s basically the same, but in reverse. That’s the great thing about the MPC.
Certainly a timeless effect! Nice one!!

Noted mate 🙏🏼
I like to reverse the vocal (or whatever sample) then apply the reverb, the bounce that down and then reverse that.
Yes that's another great way of getting a unique FX on a source. It's so much easier to do in a DAW haha
First noticed and loved this effect on 2Pac "high till I die" off a soundtrack, can't remember which...
Yes good shout. I forgot about that track.

That’s exactly why I went back to 2.15.1. It honestly doesn’t offer anything that I truly need.
Did you have any issues opening projects made in the old OS?

lol yes exactly. Or "Your MPC doesn't suck, I do" hahaha
Or "Sampling some "vinyl records" on my 3.0 MPC is fire". Just "records" is fine. We know what they are made of. Or "This is a game changer..."
💯% agree!
