Hey, another solid video but I don't think the amazon link is working. I'm on my mobile so don't know if that makes a difference?? Keep up the good vids though 👌
Learning so much from your channel - many thanks. I've just replaced my potable expansion vessel due to the SRV leaking down the tundish but it's still doing it. The pressure in the vessel was ZERO so I replaced it. I now think that it must be the SRV which has failed so I'll be replacing that next. At least I now know that my vessel is working correctly! Many thanks.
I Fully understand what you are saying about not giving the homeowner a way to bypass the pressure vessel but adding a shutoff valve makes sure the job much easier. The homeowner in the end in response if they bypass it and don't call you to fix it. I know one job I did not to long ago and I added a bypass as I always do and for some reason, the tank lost pressure and the homeowner used the bypass as they did not want to call me even though it was a free fix as it was under guarantee. It blew one night they had the heat up high. Costing them nearly 9K in damage they tried to say it was my fault we went to court and it was proven that they caused the damage. For me I still fit them I just wire tie them open so there is no way they can accidentally be closed.
SRV’s can also release pressure due to a failed PRVs aswell I’ve been to jobs before where the customers complaining of water trickling down her gutter then when I’ve gone up to look I traced the pipe back and it was D2 from the tundish. I Checked the vessel and and it wasn’t perforated I used a pressure gauge on the SRV it was showing 4 bar then when I checked the PRV the dial was showing 3 bar so then I knew instantly the PRV was knackered
Cheers mate, mine continuously dripping. To add insult to injury whoever built the house didn't connect the waist pipe to a drain so it's soaking through from outside into my skirting boards. Oh and i think the pipes got a leak so now i have to jigsaw a chunk out of the bedroom floorboards or take out the wall to get to it... my house has only been up 6 years.

Solving with inhibitor and replacing but good info there on reasons, etc. And yeah, too often them being twisted/twiddled! haha
Thank you friend for so much information I have learned what I needed but could you make a video about how to replace the expantion vasele . Thank you so much .
Hi..my T&P valve starts running as soon as the water temperature gets slightly warmer..! Then temperature won't go higher and water is keep running..! Any suggestions before go for valve replacement please.??? Thanks in advance..🙏🙏🙏🙌
Had to keep topping up my system as the PRV was letting out water a lot. Turned off 2 rads and it slowed and at times stopped the boiler PRV letting out the water. Assuming I probably need an expansion vessel. Thin k it started happening since a couple of rads were added to system. The in built Boiler vessel seems to be working, no water coming out of vent, only air, would it be that its just not a big enough vessel anymore now more rads were added?
Hello ! I really enjoy watching your videos and I must say thank for many tips you gave me so far ! On this valve subject my super naive question will be .... can I install one pressure relief valve on may main inlet system and set a pressure that will be kept constant on the whole system ? I have an old house with a messy pipe system and I can’t adjust my pressure to a good point so that I have good pressure when I open two taps or just one it’s either too low or too much... that is why I got this idea but I’m not sure the valve can be fitted that way. Thanks in advance
Really informative - I have one on my boiler but it just discharges onto my floor! i'm sure that's not right! i don't have a close drain, so just wondering if there is some sort of receptacle (maybe with an alarm) thats legal?
Hello there My problem is my value is not connected to a pipe running outside and it’s leaking in my boiler? Do I need to connect a copper pipe to run out or put a stop value on there? Guessing not as it’s pressure release 😂
Cheers James I have learned so much from watching your videos and on a couple of occasions had the change my expansion vessel one question isn't that Altec tank filled with nitrogen and not air?
Hi James Great video mate My Vailant pro 28 been dropping the pressure for about s year or so Today an engineer from home serve attended the annual gas safety inspection and reported / suggested that the prv is changed (hopefully this will solve the pressure issue) do you think I can change the prv only or I will need that air bubble tank changed too ?? It is an old boiler and wouldn’t want to spend too much on it. Looking forward to your reply
You’d never install the pump on the same supply as the Vent pipe because you’d get water constantly entering the F&E tank which in the longer run you’d constant get water running down the overflow and could cause sludge due to wasted inhibitor
I have a combined pressure reducing valve and pressure relief valve on unvented system, when the expansion vessel also connects.....lost flow rate on the cold water balanced feed off that valve...could it just be knackered or could the expansion tank effect it, if that's knackered?
I'm a tiler/bathroom fitter. I do enjoy your videos, even the ones I'm never gonna use. I've got a client who wants a whole house pump to boost the flow on the bathe taps and kitchen hot tap. Do you have a vid about this or could you use this idea to do one?
So Jimbo . The expansion vessel should be charged to 1.5 bar. But is that through the valve . But is that when its empty of water straight out the box ? So if I want to check mine can I do it with the system full or do I need to drain it and top it up empty . Hope that makes sense
Hi, a quick question. I recently had to drain the boiler to clean the DHW sensor. Did this via closing the boiler isolation valves and then opened the discharge valve as directed. Now it seems that the boiler is losing pressure, possibly through the valve. In the manual it says that the valve seat should be cleaned to ensure it seals. Any advice on what is a valve seat or how to clean it?
👍🏿 I have a mini expansion arrestor which isn't working in my opinion. Can I drain the system and then replace the/a suspect arrestor with a new altecnic mini expasion arrestor? Much easier than recharging, I think.
Love your video's they are brilliant: I've got a system with a pumped water supply coming in at 4 Bar. The PRV is failing every 5 to 6 months and the Pressure release vessel is losing its air fill in the same time frame. Is it possible that the water hammer from the pump is creating dynamic pressure which shortens the life of the PRV? Any ideas on a fix? Thanks in advance !/ Mike
Please help I've just watched your prv video I have the small red round 3 bar and I have mistakenly turned it slightly now water is dripping and black hand on gauge is dropping to zero when both red, black hand was at 1.
I have a question please: I need to use a 13 bar releive valve and I don't have (I didn't found in the market), can I add in series 2 reliefs valve of 8 & 5 bars?
Hello sir I have water boiler at home Ariston boiler when I don’t release water in sinks and shower there is no leakage from valve but when I use water the leakage starts from valve what to do to stop leakage from valve? Thank you in advance
Question: My PR valve is situated above the boiler which is on the wall in our kitchen, The outlet pipe (copper) runs down inside the boiler casing then out of the bottom of the casing, extends about a foot below the boiler before exiting through the wall then drops down outside the wall and terminates just above ground level. My missus wants to put a Kitchen cabinet around the boiler and the pipe sticking out of the bottom of the boiler is in the way. Can I simply change the exit pipe to run straight out of the wall above the boiler then down? I won't need to alter anything else in the system.
I might have twisted my SRV valve when trying to re-pressurise (proper rookie.) It clicked once. Does this now mean the valve is damaged and will need replacing? Thanks for all the brilliant videos and any advice you can give in advance.
Had house rendered they have rendered over a small copper pipe on outside wall from boiler (it looks like a bent finger ) that’s the only way I can describe it it is this dangerous. Thank you jean
Think mine is knackered by not opening. Put CH on boiler panel flashes mental and boiler goes weird, fires up, shuts off, fires up, shuts off constantly in 10 second intervals. Boiler 18 months old.
