- The Thames Spring series continues with a fairly chilled walk along the Thames Path from Richmond Upon Thames to Surbiton via Kingston Upon Thames. We visit not one but two River Gods, where Father Thames is sunbathing, Teddington Obelisk marking the end of the Port of London Authority's jurisdiction as the Thames stops being tidal.
Also visit Ham House and the remains of Buccleuch House, talk public art and legendary views at Petersham Meadows and beyond, talk medieval kings at Kingston and naked people dancing in the woods and also on the side of buildings (courtest of Eadweard Muybridge).
And get the most randomest weather ever - sunshine! rain! hail! wind! All in one day....
This is the end of the day hikes - from Day 8 it's back to wild camping and walking.

Fantastic "Random art!" - the river god statue was truly magnificent.
Thank you! I love the statue so much, I have a postcard of it a few metres from me as i write this.
Cheeks! 😂 Maybe he should borrow some PJ's from Noah 😉 just for decencies sake
I love the artwork by skyhigh. That's the sort of thing I'd love to have painted on my van! 😁
I think they (I assumed it was a he, I think it is but might be wrong, could be a team or not male) are on Instagram as @5kyh1gh and weareskyhigh elsewhere - go have a look, they definitely do commissions.
Auch an amazing episode, Tim! I loved your artwork, such brilliant pieces throughout. The filter bed tragedy is such a devastating sight. I hope they sort it out and bring it back to life!
Thank you - and yes I hope we do. I have been tangentially involved with the SWAG (Seething Wells Action Group) lot, sorta - I know people who are active there. And I do what I can to raise awareness.
Developers ruining nice things what a surprise not. Yeah a lot of people seem to not want any wilderness in their area. A bit like people who buy a house with an amazing garden only to get rid of it all and put gravel or tarmac all over it. Great video as always, nice to know the history and such.
Yes very much, We have this issue with my neighbours who hate the wild garden we have, and seem to want to 'clean it up' but I suspect they really want a parking space.
05:43 Lovely artwork there Tim 🫡
Thank you! That's a sketchbook piece, my sketchbooks I tend to do full pieces rather than err, sketches
13:37 you had me with 'nuclear weapons' 😂😂🫡
Well it's amazing what they find....
04:28 you could have told me that BEFORE I tried hiking across the country! 🥶
Oops...I am guessing what happened now...ouch. The perils of ultralight....we've all been there. Ironically my Scottish trip I took TOO many clothes and then it was a unseasonable heatwave. LOL.
I've shared this series with my mrs, she loves London and told her about this. I was showing her your expert editing skills and she agreed you could make a great documentary channel on tv. I'd choose this over anything on the box. 🫡
I wholeheartedly agree with that! 🫡
Wow thanks. I'm only offsetting my poor camera skills! They are dreadful, I have to do a lot of editing in part to hide my fluffs.
