How To Jump Like the BEST DUNKER IN THE WORLD (Step-by-Step Technique)

    There is nothing more powerful a human being can do than jump. Elevating one's body off of the ground is both impressive and beautiful when done right. I see jumping more as an art than a science project and through thousands of athletes worth of trial and error, I have determined the most optimal way to jump your highest off of 2-feet.
    In this video I breakdown Isaiah's amazing 47" vertical jump test by examining some key areas:
    1. INTENT - this is the environment he creates from a mental standpoint. This is the most undervalued element of athletics.
    2. Center of Mass Relationship - managing the athlete's COM in relationship to the take-off.
    3. Arm Swing and Shoulder Mobility - why it's important to understand why your arm swing may be underperforming.

    hi tyler..can u guide me on how to approach with a 3 steps for volleyball spike? i am right handed...so small left step then a big right left? should the hands be relaxed on the side with the first step or should they come up with my first step? thanks

    Hi Tyler! Quick question. I’ve found that my penultimate step is good and arm swing too, but I can’t get the first few steps to be natural enough. The strides are too small, I can’t get extension on the behind leg.
    From 2/3 step approach I can get palm above the rim high but 4/5 step approach I can’t even sometimes grab the rim sometimes. Any drills/tips to get those first 2-3 natural steps together?

      Hey man, I had this problem as well, I guess the trick is to just practice your approach, dont even need to complete the jump, but try to really focus on getting some more lenghty strides in small increments, until it just starts feeling like a normal run up. You will also find that after your steps are longer, it becomes a little different to time your penultimate step since you wont be used to it. But really man, just keep at it, and try to get a good sense of rhytmn and timing in your strides, I am sure youll be getting it down in just a couple pf days with enough practice. Good luck dude

    Three days ago i just got chondromalacia patellar! Would it be too much to ask for, if you could do a video about it and treatment/s..?
    Currently training myself to dunk, my vertical is around 38 inches right now but i got that pain of popping/cracking due to chondromalacia patellar and its killing me that i cant lift heavy..

    Great video, only thing I would mention, is where you were showing the "center of mass" in the visual presentation, the circle representing the center of mass was way to high, human center of mass is near your belly button, not in your chest, ... But I am nitpicking :D otherwise, super helpful

      No youre wrong. Human centre of mass when standing upright and walking is around the belly button. Centre of mass shifts depending on the position of the body

    How do you stay tall and why am I struggling I think I’m hip dominant. And how do I fix that to jump higher

      you may not be able to get perfectly upright, but the real focus is on being aware of trying to keep the chest back, behind that lead plant foot to allow for a smoother and more efficient take off sequence.

      @@jumpguyty thanks yesterday afternoon I did jump technique repeats Like you said in the video. I did it 20 times then I performed a max effort jump and I was able to 2 hand touch 9’6.5 before I was only able to do 9’4 feet.

      Mathieu Bilodeau we like using toe and heel walking to build ankle resiliency! You should also implement some PPA single leg hops! There are a couple vids on our channel about those!

      Your ankles can only absorb force safely when you land on toes it it's impossible to protect ankles during penultimate step

      @@ethanbravin894 the momentum of the push carries the centre of mass heel to toe very safely as long as the athlete hasn't used an over-stride where the foot ends up uncharacteristically far away from the hips. The amount of impact directly to the bursa of the heel and conversely into the structures of the ankle isn't as high as you would expect. We have studied this thoroughly.

      Tom Dunks I have to imagine some of the NFL guys with 40” or higher standing verticals could hit 50” on approach but not sure. Wasn’t there also a French guy to officially nail 50?

      I have never seen one officially tested. Many 47-49. There are undoubtedly people out there with that ability, we are just yet to test it! Won’t be long though!
