I really like the idea and presentation of the scene. But the context of it kind of ruined it for me. Because personally I found chapter 5 to be a waste in general, and that tainted the impact the scene had.

As all of chapter 5 took away the parts of the game that makes it grand, and instead focuses on the games mediocre to poor combat mechanics. Also story wise chapter 5 is a bit of mess. As it goes so extreme that it starts to betray the setting and tonne of the game. And the whole chapter is a plot cul-de-sac, which hurt the overall pacing of the game. Don't get me wrong I loved the game. I just think this scene became way less effective, by putting after the weakest section of the game.

I was upset that I lost my Arabian horse, so I started walking back to Shady Belle. En route, I took a detour to the south part of Lagras Swamp. Turns out the whole gang was there and I missed this entire sequence.
How though? Whats so significant about this point in the story? I mean, I know it all leads up to something important, but not really as much during this point

The Saint Denis bank robbery was the beginning of the end for the gang (you could also Blackwater too but I’m tryna make this short), now the gang is back in America yet this is when the gang starts to fall apart from within. Plus up until this point we hadn’t heard a legit song with meaningful lyrics so it’s just preparing us for the hardships and tragedy we’ll soon face.

This is the part where the game itself grabs you by the balls and tells you "hey... shit is getting serious, bro. That's not just a videogame anymore". What a masterpiece.
I loved the mission right after this one when Arthur goes to Lakay and the Pinkertons arrive. When you get the chance to blast the Pinkertons to hell with that maxim Gun. You could feel that he was tired of all the BS they went through the last couple of months.
A lot of people say that "That's the way it is" is Arthur's Song, but I'd say it's this song. It comes up in two separate missions, both extremely emotional, and I think connects with Arthur more. That's the way it is is still an amazing song that portrays how he felt during the ride, but unshaken shows all of his emotions, current past and future. This is just my opinion.
what about outlaws from the west plays 3 times the first mission when dutch comes back from alders ranch and the Leviticus cornwall train robbery and the final mission when we go to beaver hollow before tilly tells dutch about abigail
Never going to forget this game, and this sequence in particular. Was going through really rough times at the end of my first marriage (later divorce). This song started, I went to cinematic mode, put the controller down. Just felt the song deep in my soul at that point. I just remember getting to the waypoint with tears rolling down my face. Had to just sit in my thoughts for a bit. Just one of the great emotional movements in this masterpiece of a game.
I’m on my 2nd run through with this story mode since 2018. The amount of things that have changed in my life in the last 6 years really made this scene so emotional for me. I too was also balling my eyes out when it started. I absolutely love this game so damn much

For me this felt like the turning point of the game. All of Arthur's sins have caught up with him and are right on his tail. He feels it and knows deep down that he won't make it out alive. He realizes how important his time left really is.

I have played red Dead 2 with my stepdaughter (only the dinosaur bones bit and fishing, no violent bits. Always made sure my Bounty was paid and stayed out of trouble) Then my gf left me... Two weeks later, this sequence.... just got to me so hard.
Yeah it was definitely an homage to that sequence, but this time it’s the main character coming back from a far off land and being completely emotionally exhausted. It’s a great contrast for Arthur.
I was so lost when I arrived at Van Horn, after Guarma. I spent a good 5 minutes running around the town, I noticed I couldn't do anything, not even open the wheel. Saw a couple horses, one under a light and thought "surely this isn't it, right? It's too obvious", welp... the music started and it just fucked me up. This scene was very powerful. What a scene, what a character, what a story.
I started running back to shady belle, got half way and thought “rockstar wouldn’t do this long ass run back without music or something” so I search up this part and saw you had to find this horse, so here I am writing this as I run back to van horn so I don’t miss this quality scene
I had the radar turned off since chapter 2 and memorized the map during the time leading up to this. Never before have I felt such a connection to a game, just knowing that I need to get back to Shady Belle and how to get there while reflecting. This game was insane.

I accidentally stopped and got off to loot the house nearby and the song stopped!! I didn’t want to miss this scene so I killed myself with a dynamite and restarted the mission lol I was able to experience it 🙏🏼

Calling D’Angelo to do this track for the game was more than a perfect decision. If you know anything about his life, this song hits so much harder as well. This song is for everybody that struggles/has struggled with something. Absolute masterpiece and probably my favorite scene from any video game.

When I first did this ride with Arthur I sped up on the final stretch to shady bell which the house come into perspective right as the song ended it was just perfect 👌
When i get to this part of the game, it really fucks with me. Cause it’s the first time that arthur and you can even begin to think about hosea and lennys deaths. Due to the trauma of the heist and of guarma, there was no room to even think about hosea and lenny. You can feel it in the game, when you’re riding your horse, that arthurs just thinking “what the hell has this came to”

I run on foot way to the stable at south Ranch Emerald, I didn't wanted to steal a horse. Then, going there by foot, a group of wild horses apeared. I got one and the music started to sound... I made all the way back home😊
I AM MRKS MOM they’re both beautiful, epic, emotive and unique. Far away talks about what John had on his mind while traveling to Mexico. The future he wants is “far away” And Arthur has so many problems for a single person to handle. And he is between them. He is trying so hard to stay cool between that “crash of worlds” I personally love both
me personally, my favorite chapter was chapter 5 because of the new environment arthur enters. although like 3/4 of the gang isn't there, it is still really cool to see Guarma and the different people. But mainly I liked chapter 5 because this was when Arthur starts to see him true self and becomes a good man.

Damn I accidentally bumped into the residents there and the whole town turned on me and I booked it outta there to shady belle and this song never came on :(
I missed this part because when the song started I get off the horse to rob a house.

On my first playthrough I couldn't find the horse so I had to run all the way to camp
Bro I didn’t know you had to steal a horse I literally just ran across the map on foot and the song didn’t play
