Oh, me too, man. Me too. What I would give to play the game without knowing any of the major plot either, I regret playing this when I did as I had it spoiled before finishing the game (pretty much all of the deaths and their causes.) It still left a big impact on me but damn. I could only imagine playing this entire game for the first time without knowing what was to come, but I'm happy for moments like these that are just so beautifully immersive.
I always tell my friends, I wish there was a machine I can step into which complete erases my memory of this game. Nothing else though, that would be bad 😂
I only finished the story before the Epilogue a few weeks back. I still need to finish the Epilogue and in the 2 years the game has been out, I wasn't spoiled once and I got to experience the whole story and didn't know anything and I'm so glad that happened because the whole story is good.
"May I... stand unshaken... Amid... Amidsts of crash of worlds..." This song perfectly embodies Arthur... He was a man who was born into the life of The Old West. The life of an outlaw was all he ever knew... So, when his world began to crash with the changing of the modern world, he stood unshaken... For those he cared about. Even as he was dying, even as the modern day tried to be rid of him and his kind, he was unshaken... For himself... For everyone. For Sadie... For Abigail... For Jack... and for his brother, John... Always gonna miss Arthur...
It began to rain as the music played for me and a storm rolled in. Due to the lyrics I legit thought that was scripted and it felt so dam epic as he rode with lighting bolts striking in the distance. I'm just now realising it wasnt and how I got by luck a treat of a scene.
@@MegMage for me, in RDR1, the best time for the ride into Mexico when Far Away plays, is in the middle of the night, like after midnight in the game. There’s something about riding across the desert plains late at night, accompanied by those smooth guitar strings…that’s just so serene to me. But hearing Unshaken during a storm…that’s POWERFUL,
@@The_Enclave_Offical You sure? I always played high honour (though I didn't know about the honour system first time) so I'd be surprised if I had low honour by that point.
To be honest, as a player that has played almost every thing that's out there... on the scale up to perfection RDR2 is like the top dog for me. Everything in consideration, it's as close as we've come so far in games, IMO.
Two of the most emotional moments in the game. This and the last ride to Beaver Hollow. Both times it was just Arthur riding a horse and reflecting, but few things have ever hit harder.
Epic moment in the game. Once I realized it was D’Angelo (when he starts singing out and hitting the falsetto), that made it even more epic as I’m a huge fan of Voodoo (the album) and always respected his pen.
During this ride Arthur learned many truths.....he realized it was all coming to a end and he realized Dutch had faults and the people who masked them were gone.
;( Arthur riding back not as just a son of Dutch....but as his own man, finally. And Arthur made sure that he was going to do his best to leave a good imprint on this world on his own-terms, before he passed.
Honestly no matter who, this game can break any person. I had a friend who was SERIOUSLY a tough guy gangster wannabe, but after playing this game he felt sooooo broken.
Many people miss this song because they walk to the shady belle. During this mission stealing the horse to get back to Shady Belle doesn’t make you lose honour.
Rdr2 has the best story, the way they touch the emotions of the main character, this game had emotion happiness, sadness, loyalty, plot twist betrayal. This is a game that can be played over an over without getting sick of it recommend 10/10
This is so awesome that you posted this. I just experienced this scene for the first time last night and had to come to YT to see if someone had this posted. Gives me goosebumps!
dude, i had the same reaction, and after played this scene, that song became one of my favs of all times. and always i remember this scene my body shivers. RDR2 is a real masterpiece.
This song perfectly encapsulates Arthur’s return from guarma. His family/gang is falling apart, they’ve lost all they’re money, all hope is dying, but he must stand unshaken and push on to salvage what’s left. Coming from a man’s perspective, it’s also just what’s expected of us, to stand unfazed and unshaken in the face of the world, however many times it faces us with insurmountable odds.
This really shows how music can affect a scene, if not for the music this is just a horse ride that has happened hundreds of times already throughout the story
I genuinely loved you reaction to this! D'Angleo is my favorite Neo Soul singer he making amazing music, I havent played this game yet but the song has powerful lyrics but playing this game makes the words even more powerful!
Arthur never dies in my version…I just keep playing over and over again. For me, this was the only game I’ve played, to ever make me relate and actually get upset when the character died. It was almost embarrassing to tear up over a video game character but that’s how amazing the story and the experience was. Thank you rockstar for creating a game that never loses its entertainment value (story mode only)…online not so much
bro this hit so hard on my second play through. As soon as the music kicked in all I could think of was Arthur looking at the sunrise and taking his last breath
Damnit, I swear to you I cried like a kid with cinematic mode and the max volume on my headphones, fucking insane. For any reason this song touch my heart.
not how i thought i'd get new D'angelo music, but i'll take it. the hopeless optimist in me wishes we got a whole album of exactly this, but i've been here since brown sugar, i know better ...

Usually hate these “reaction videos” but I gotta say - I’ve long been a D’Angelo fan - the man remains a singular artist expanding and reforming his sound with each album and operates as an anomaly with only a handful of albums (3 proper albums over 25 years) and absolutely no filler on those albums. I also was an avid gamer through the PS1 - PS2 eras and some PC gaming - when I all but stopped playing games around 2005 or so… This last February I was gifted a PS5 randomly by a company I broker a good bit of business for and I thought well my daughters will love to have this. First game I purchased was Elden Ring as it was the toast of gaming at that time and still is to some degree - that game is also a masterpiece. I couldn’t really get into much after Elden ring - it was so expansive and so meticulous in its pacing… I had D’Angelo playlist playing on TH-cam over my home theater one day and heard unshaken come on and was very familiar when it came out in 2018 - but I always thought it was just a one off single by D - as he’s done this in the past - when I started looking at the comments people were talking about how amazing it was in the Game “RDR2” and also how during its development D was a regular “secret tester” for Rockstar and a massive fan of it in general and I was like damn! Haha I did remember vaguely enjoying RD Revolver on PS2 Fast forward to today - I’m just past this part in the game (just after the Pinkerton raid on the short lived Lagras base) and I have to say, it also gives me chills just thinking about those moments riding back after Guarma… superb game design and excellent placement and tone in regard to the song. Makes me love D’Angelo that much more man! So amazing to see where gaming has evolved and also rockstars evolution as a studio - I remember playing the first GTA off a floppy drive on a PC and thinking the cut scenes were so unreal… gaming has truly evolved into an art form that matches and in this instance with RDR2 surpasses what Television and film can do. Not only is the writing and storytelling of gaming now on par with the “Breaking Bad’s” and “The Godfather’s” but the visual and interactive style transcends those experiences by placing you there and we now have the technology to make these games photorealistic and fully engrossing. Something that was only dreamed about when I was just a boy playing Final Fantasy 7 on a PS1… thinking man this is the pinnacle of gaming! Haha! So glad to have experienced this game to this point and I’m taking my sweet time with every side mission and quest to soak it all in. The first play through of these types of games are something to be treasured forever and something deeply personal 🙏🏽 loved your video! ❤
