There are times when the phrase "as usual" is truly insincere. But not in this case. Drew, that bench is some beautiful work, as usual! That bedroom suite is absolutely gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing what you produce next.
Knowing that the flathead screws are in honor of your grandpa and dad puts a big smile on my face every time. I think of my dad a lot when I'm in my shop, as some of my tools were his. There's comfort knowing that my dad used them before me.👍🙂
In the days of woodworkers becoming content creators and nonstop ad sponsors, I get so excited when I see one of your videos pop up because I know it will be an actual wood working project with real life mistakes, comedy and skill. Love your work man!
That clip with the glue while fixing the split was so relatable! I've done that countless times this year alone. Ahh, the issue with the tusk was heartbreaking, but your solution is great, and we'd never have known. Good fix, Drew.
Drew, what a beautiful bench! As I watched the video, every time you said the word “tusk,” my brain immediately answered “Just say that you want me…Don’t tell me that you…Tusk…Tusk…” Who knew you would design a bench in honor of Fleetwood Mac. Thank you Drew for making my day so much brighter.
I was wondering about the bandage... happens to the the best of us. And, I appreciated the 'oopsies' on the out-takes... very helpful to see that mistakes were made, and that there are ways to fix them.
Drew, I want to thank you for the bloopers at the end. Not only are they hilarious but they also give me a feeling that I don’t need to be perfect. I hope your thumb heals well. I’ve never had stitches until I started doing woodworking about five years ago. Then I ended up with 11 stitches within a month we’re really enjoying the place in Kentucky. Maybe you and the family can come visit sometime. I could use some help replacing the logs. Lol.
Thanks, Drew. The bench looks great. Nice set of bedroom pieces. I do miss the regularity of your videos. The wait in between has grown longer than it used to be. Would love to see more and closer together - like they used to be.
Thanks so very much for showing your mistakes. That you can overcome them and still come away with an amazing product (and all your fingers) is so reassuring to the rest of us.
The stretcher being installed upside down reminds me of so many of my projects: After much planning and measuring, I will carefully and meticulously install something completely opposite of what I had intended 😩 Typical! And because I installed it so well, it’s a pain in the rear to undo it to fix my boneheaded mistake. I guess if you’re going to do something then commit to it and go all the way 😅
It's just so typical of me to do something like that. I get laser focused on something completely different and I don't see the mistake I'm making right under my nose until it's way too late.
I have been watching your videos since 2018. It has been a great seeing how much you have improved over time. I had to take a couple years off of woodworking, but I started a small business and I am finally getting started again this summer. I will be building your various table saw sleds and other amazing jigs and tools that you have made over the years. You are a huge inspiration for me!
I love your outtakes. As a noob, Refreshing to see a pro make mistakes. I put edge banding on the inside part of my plywood recently, making the raw exposed edge of the plywood where people see on the outside. Having already glued and nailed it, I just live with the mistake. Thankfully it was only shop furniture 😂
The wife really likes the look of the bench , and also your humor . We both always look forward for your next video . We also like and laugh at the outtakes , it's like watching myself .. oohhh crap !😂
Tusk tenons are cool to use, but do on occasion cause some strife. I learned the hard way that I end up taking less time to just use a sawblade rasp to make the bevels on the endgrain than if I try to route the way you did. You at least managed to salvage yours, so kudos! Beautiful work, and a happy dog to boot!
You don’t know how timely this is. I’ve been contemplating making new altars for my church and was considering all if these same design elements. Through wedged tenons on top and a stretcher with the tusk tenons on the sides. Now I have a step by step guide. 😊
Beautiful piece, Drew!! Hey... fixing those FUBARs so nobody notices is the mark of a true craftsman. Had you not included it in the out takes, nobody would have ever known. As for me... I never made a mistake! Thought I did once, but I was wrong......
It's always a treat when I bring up TH-cam and Drew has uploaded a new video. Love the content, and Drew's presentation of it. I hope to be half as skilled when I grow up some day.
Sorry I am late. Real life and 2 new puppies have put a crimp in my time. As always wonderful design and build. Thanks for sharing. I noticed some JessEm tools that I don't recall seeing before. Good for you.
GREAT project Drew. WOW my "like" button lit up like a flashing LED Christmas Tree - So I hit it to stop the flashing. Worked perfectly. Will try that on all of Drew's videos! !! !!!
That bench is a thing of beauty! Looks as though your dog is liking it too. Maybe you'll have to build a set of walnut doggie steps that are carpeted across the top of each step to keep the walnut from getting scratched up on your bench! I love that you incorporated the flathead screw in honor of your grandpa and dad. Can't wait to see what you're building next!!!
Nicely done. I always enjoy your videos. One item I noticed, the wedged tenons in the top are generally done perpendicular to the grain of the piece being attached, not parallel. That way the force from the wedge isn't trying to split along the grain. Hopefully you won't have any issues with it in the future.
Yeah, someone else said that too. They're just cosmetic and aren't subjecting the top to any force that will cause a split, so in this case, I should be okay.
The bench might just be the best bedroom piece you have made! Absolutely beautiful! Because I know you love suggestions from freeloaders 😁, I would LOVE to see a video on how you lay out the parts of your project onto the wood. I know that's something I'm still trying to get better at. Keep up the amazing work, and the amazing bloopers! 😄
What a nice piece of work! And such cool humor in the presentation. Thank you very much. One thing though, I found the height of your bed a bit scary, don't ever fall out!
I come to watch the video. I stay for the "CRAPSKIS!!!" I've been watching the re-runs for the last few days just waiting for the next new episode. This morning when I saw it, I jumped up and down like a giddy school boy with a crush! Thanks Drew!! You've made my day today! PS. I'm sorry about your thumb. Hope it heals quickly!
Awesome bench Drew! Made me laugh out loud again, several times! The outtakes were vintage Drew Fisher, so many "Oh, nooo!"s. Great fix for the upside down stretcher!
That really completes the set Drew, very beautiful it is too. Spotted your bandage and wondered if youd let on how you did it. Admirably sharp chisel I must say! Hope you're healing well, I love that you show your mistakes it shows that even the best have problems, its not all plain sailing. Your designs are just so special and your neighbour so generous, lovely job.👍😄
You really do have the best neighbour, Drew. I wish my neighbour would have that much unnecessary walnut needing a better home. I also really appreciate the outtakes at the end as it makes me laugh quite a bit. I only laugh as I know I would make the exact same mistakes, if not worse, if I were to do these builds.
Howdy Drew! Beautiful bench! I'm loving the theme, and the elements you included. Interesting 'red stain' you added there, shows real commitment to the project! I do wonder about the direction of the exposed wedged mortises, in line with the seat grain instead of across, risking wedging it apart? Nah, given the tightness of walnut grain, it'll probably be OK. And if they do split the seat, maybe the neighbor will have another slab for some trivial purpose, like a display mantel for his loved ones' ashes or something, giving you replacement material! 😂 Love your work, dude! I got about 47 different ideas for my own projects, always the mark of a good video! Cheers!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. Yeah, the wedges don't really provide that much pressure against the edges of the mortise. They just splay out the ends to fill it out. Definitely not enough to split a 1.5" thick slab
Hide glue is your friend with Walnut and mistakes. A heat gun will loosen it up so you can take it apart again. You can also smudge it all over your workpiece and it'll disappear when you add an oil finish, unlike PVA, which will immediately show up and look terrible.
There are times when the phrase "as usual" is truly insincere.
But not in this case.
Drew, that bench is some beautiful work, as usual!
That bedroom suite is absolutely gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing what you produce next.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that. :)
You never fail great video once again. Keep them coming.

Wow, thank you!
@@FishersShop Agreed, this felt very genuine. Thanks for that
Signing your work with your DNA is the mark of a true craftsman.
Haha, truth
On the tusk issue: Mistakes will be made, no one is perfect. The mark of a true craftsman is how well he can fix (and hide!) those mistakes.
Yup
Measure twice, cut once, swear, measure again ..😂
What tusk issue?
@@cozimfrench watch the whole video
The outtakes make me feel normal as a woodworker :)
Glad you liked it
I apreciate you showing the bloopers. They are entertaining and lets us mere mortals know we can keep trying.
I'm glad you're enjoying them. Thanks for watching
Everyone makes mistakes. Not everyone knows how to fix their mistakes. Keep the great videos coming
Thanks, I appreciate it
That clip with the glue while fixing the split was so relatable! I've done that countless times this year alone.
Ahh, the issue with the tusk was heartbreaking, but your solution is great, and we'd never have known. Good fix, Drew.
Thanks! :)
I'm embarrassed to admit the outtakes are always my favourite part. Great video as always!
Glad you like them!
Looks amazing, Drew! Thanks again for your support!! 🐝 💪
You bet!
Appreciate the outtakes. Makes me feel human too.
I'm glad you like them!

Thanks! I make a lot of mistakes but have sorta gotten good at covering them up
Nice
Thanks
I look forward to the Fisher’s Shop video every month. They are always informative and entertaining.
Glad you like them!
I identified with every single outtake.
Hehe, glad you liked it
Beautiful! And I'm glad to see I'm not the only one goofing up all the time on stuff lol
I never mess up!! I just make interesting alterations that require work to cover them up

Yeah, I don't think that'll happen, I'm afraid. sorry
Best outtakes ever........ Beautiful bench, Drew!
Well thanks!
I like the nod to the Red Violin at the end
Not sure what you think you saw

Great job on woodworking for the front the bed in the bedroom and great job on make a bench fisher’s shop 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
I have tasked tenons in my workbench and bed. I can take them apart, move componets around, transport, rebuid them by myself.
Yup, that's the true point of them... of which I completely ignored and rendered useless. But they look good!

What a nice piece of work! And such cool humor in the presentation. Thank you very much. One thing though, I found the height of your bed a bit scary, don't ever fall out!

Thanks!
Nice build. I definitely want to try this sometime.
You should!
Love it....I immediately thought, "Where is the screw going in this project" when I realized it was a hardware-free build. Nice work.
Gotta find a place for it somewhere. :)
gotta get that Keeps sponsorship! get on the min and fin bandwagon!
I'll go bald before I do that. I couldn't care less about my looks. haha
As always, love your videos, but love the bench a bit more. Beautiful work.
Thank you very much!
It’s gorgeous!
Thank you

I think I've found your next project. Doggie steps. I cant wait :)
Why would I make those? He uses the bench just fine

If I only had your talent to make such a piece, but I am trying thanks to your videos and watching your skills!
Glad you're enjoying them!
“Hello old friend! Very good to see you once again!”
Hide glue is your friend with Walnut and mistakes. A heat gun will loosen it up so you can take it apart again. You can also smudge it all over your workpiece and it'll disappear when you add an oil finish, unlike PVA, which will immediately show up and look terrible.
Interesting. I should try some of that sometime since I work a lot with walnut. Thanks!
