What a great looking headboard! I haven’t advanced to your level of reeding yet. I’m only 66. But I’m get ther. Wish I had me some naybores like you!! Love your humor brother!!
When you said you said "I had to go slab hunting and for that I took a trip over to a place called...", I fully expected you to say, "my neighbors garage". At least you "borrowed" his extension cord for the wiring. What a good and generous neighbor you have. I also hope you get those hernias taken care of soon. You are a fine craftsman and a comedic genius.
First Flat Head Screw of 2024! Thanks Drew for sharing. The interactions with your wife was heart warming. I hope you and your family have a safe and wonderful New Year.
@xoxo2008oxox C'mon now, we all know Fischer sneaks in and has YT contacts. Heard of Lock-picking lawyer? I'm sure our man knows a few tricks to get in and out of his neighbor's locked shed, location of security cameras, and can possibly Ocean 11 his way into the house and out. I just think it's simpler to go down the block, 2 to 3 city blocks, to my local HD or Lowes. Although I'm willing and prefer to drive to 3.5 miles to my closest Menards.
I read that same profound literature to my kids and they talk about it to this day. From their jail cells. But I’m sure it wasn’t the literature. Gorgeous headboard. I’m blown away that your entire house isn’t filled with sawdust. What a project!
Nice work, Drew. While that crack may not grow, it might collect dust - but, since you use cleats to hang it, you can always take it down and epoxy fill those cracks on another video. Wish your videos were as frequent as they used to be ... miss your woodworking and wit when you are gone for so long.
Really nice, Drew. You solved two of the burning questions I had when you started. How were you going to incorporate flat head screws into this one and what could your neighbor contribute? LOL Bill
Drew, Love your videos and outtakes. 4 years now by TV and never put a comment in. but if you ever run out of wood videos, put up some videos on F 360. it would go crazy good. keep up the good work. Sorry about your thumb.
The waiting for the batteries to charge is a harbinger to all those who have EV's attempting to travel beyond their fifteen minute city. Sometimes the ol' "umbilicus electricus" is a good thing for grinders. Beautiful results, Drew. When stud finders lie, (it happens) I find the outlet along the wall which is usually attached to a stud, tap on the wall to locate which side of the receptacle the stud is located, measure from the wall, transfer that measurement upwards. Same process applies to nailing baseboard.
Not being able to locate wall studs and owning it, sporting a Tommy Boy t-shirt…I KNOW this guy. He is me. Except he makes beautiful pieces and manages to crack us up at the same time. Bravo!
Beautiful work Drew!!! Now the only thing left for the bedroom would be a nice dresser. Happy New Year to you and your family Drew. Stay warm up there.
When I saw that crack in the wood I was certain we were destined for yet another Epoxy River Table (headboard) type thing! Oh no! just what the world needed! Instead we got the awesome Bow TIes!
I've always found it interesting how every now and then I get an email from a bloke in Michigan selling push sticks, and then I check TH-cam, and low and behold, Drew has uploaded a video!! Nice headboard there Drew. That finish would be cool to try on Rimu or Totora (a couple of New Zealand native woods). I will have to see if I can get some here. Keep up the great work!!
Absolutely a beautiful job well done. Could use one of those turbo planers but out of my $$$ range. I’ll keep looking. Thanks for the info over the years and the laughs.
Here I was thinking you were going to use resin for that crack, but you used the bow ties instead. Those turned out to be a much prettier choice! I have to keep that in mind.
You may joke about it being profound literature, but I'm sure the first time I read it to my daughter it made me rethink my outlook on life a little 😅Oh yeah, nice wood thing too of course!
As usual from you Drew a Fantastic build, and you were right about those colours and the swirls a really beautiful piece of Black Walnut. It was funny to hear your Wife saying 'oh crap' and then seconds later you say the same thing, well it was funny to me at least 😂🤣 Barry (UK)
You weren’t wrong about those lights, they are beautiful!! It’s so cool getting a sneak peak on these projects on the We Built A Thing podcast & then actually seeing it come together in the video. Just to add the obligatory “you should’v” comment, it would’ve looked nice to leave the bow ties proud of the surface & round off the edges to give it the pillowed look. But il save that for my own projects instead of projecting my ideas. Crackin job as always👍🏼👍🏼
Sir good video! Btw, i commented on your cutting board video i just now watched about how i thought you had stipped making vids- my bad, or should i say You Tube’s bad! They were failing to notify me even though I had it set up to do so! Oh well, now i get to play catch up ( when i get some spare time! Good vid, sir keep ‘em coming!
Heard about this headboard on the podcast and was excited to see the reading lights in action during this video. I can only see one problem with this project - there's a distinct lack of peanut M&M dispensing capabilities. The board looks stunning otherwise. 👌
Happy New Year Drew AND family. Glad to see you got us off to a GREAT 2K24 by posting a video. Came out wonderful and I really like the reading lights! !! !!!
Awesome looking headboard , I solved my battery issues with more batteries than I’ll ever need (16 🤣) and half a dozen battery chargers , I only have a few battery chargers plugged in on my tool box and they only get turned on only Saturdays (day off) even if my wife needs to use my leaf blower or the shop vac she’s not going to run out of batteries either and I just charge them when I get home . Batteries are like clamps you can never have too many 😂
Beautiful work Drew. I'm going to have to hide this video from my Mrs. at least until I can find a slab like that for $300...out here its gotta be $1k. Love the lights and the wonderful antics...Cntl C, Cntl V...LOL Thanks for all you bring to the community!
I loved the pensive look on your face as you slowly zoomed out to show what book you were reading at the end! I laughed out loud! 😂
Haha! Thanks for watching, bud
What a great looking headboard! I haven’t advanced to your level of reeding yet. I’m only 66. But I’m get ther. Wish I had me some naybores like you!! Love your humor brother!!

First Flat Head Screw of 2024! Thanks Drew for sharing. The interactions with your wife was heart warming. I hope you and your family have a safe and wonderful New Year.
Thanks a bunch!
Yeah Drew, i was fully expecting you to use a flat head screw to attach the French cleat. I started to panic when you didn't.
How does your neighbour dare not having a slab like that just there for you? They're failing you.
My thoughts as well.
That neighbor moved.
I think he wised up to the losses and maybe, locked up the supply! 🤣

Could you please make 1000 more videos? I really love what you do and you are a true craftsman.
Thanks, I appreciate that
Very clean project. Your attention to detail is very on point. Good job.
Thank you very much!
So good to hear the song of my people again at 3:55. Always makes me smile.
Hah, yup
Looks great!!!!!
Some winter we're having here near Kalamazoo Michigan 🤪
Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan
Had to go looking for this video. Don't know why it wasn't in my subscription feed. Thank goodness for the podcast
Hope you enjoyed it!
Very cool Drew, thanks for sharing.
You bet. Thanks for watching
Gorgeous headboard!
Thanks!

Gorgeous headboard. I’m blown away that your entire house isn’t filled with sawdust. What a project!
Haha, yeah this was a very messy one. :)
Great Job Drew!!!!
Thanks a bunch
Here for the work, the results and the humorous outtakes. Nice wood in yer bedroom! LOL... sigh... thanks for using walnut and sharing that resource!
Love your voice overs! You have a great "announcer" voice!
Thanks!
Great job Drew the headboard turned out amazing what a beautiful slab the figure ,the live edge, the bow ties looks amazing
Thanks a bunch!
Great teamwork with your other half
Thanks
Great video as always!
Neighbor jokes are great every time too!
Hey thanks!
I'm not sure this could have turned out any better! I really like those minimal lights you kept talking about...they did not disappoint!
Thanks, Bruce!
Wow, it looks really good Drew! Love those bow ties, and knowing all the hard work that you put into making them makes me appreciate them even more!
Thanks 👍 Haha
Love the Callahan Auto Parts shirt! Great job Drue. Those hand carved bow ties were pretty impressive. More work than the slab.
Haha, thanks buddy
Drew, invest in a $10 StudBuddy magnet for finding studs. I’ve never used a stud finder since buying a couple.
Yeah! A real video again! We miss these!
Awesome build!
Thanks!
This video was not sad, it came with “oh craps”, flat head screws, laughter and slabs! 😂
:)
As always, it's a joy to see when your videos post. Another great video and project. I'm a BIG fan of Walnut, too my brother. Keep them videos coming.
Thanks a bunch
Awesome headboard. Now that headboard and nightstands needs an equally awesome bed.
Nice work, Drew. While that crack may not grow, it might collect dust - but, since you use cleats to hang it, you can always take it down and epoxy fill those cracks on another video.
Wish your videos were as frequent as they used to be ... miss your woodworking and wit when you are gone for so long.
I'll never fill that crack. I actually like the look of it open like that. Yeah, it might collect dust, but I'm good with it. :)
lol, I love this piece of wood! It finished beautifully! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you very much!
I did enjoy the video as usual. You are just a refreshing person to watch. Julien
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful piece of work. Great video. Thank you for sharing. Have a great 2024 and stay safe.🙂🙂
Thanks. You as well!
The great thing about the space the french cleat creates is it gives room for LED strip lights for some accent lighting.
Yeah I thought about backlighting it but then realized I'd never use it so I didn't bother.
Very nice!
Thanks!
Gorgeous piece.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
The slab looks fantastic, beautiful colours, very jealous.👌👍
Thanks 👍
Beautiful!
Thank you!

That's pretty much what I had to do. Haha. Thanks for watching
Fantastic job! Grandpa would be proud of the use of the best fashioner, the standard straight edge screw!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome looking. You know what else would look nice? A dinner table that matches the live edge headboard! 😂
Haha, you're not wrong
@@FishersShop It would be sort of weird to have the dining table in your bedroom.
Love the video edits and dry humour keep it up. Love your stuff
Thanks! I appreciate that
Awesome video, Drew! It's fun to hear you talk about this on WBAT, then watch it come to life on YT. GJ

This was a great video again fisher!!
Thanks again!
Of course
Whenever I see you using your preferred hardware, I'm reminded of another channel @SampsonBoatCo There's a LOT of flatheads in that boat!
Nice job,looks great
Thanks 👍
That’s a pretty cool headboard. And those lights are snazzy too!
Thanks. :)
How awesome. You did it well 😊😊
Thanks much!
Gorgeous 😊
thanks!
Very nice Drew!
Thank you kindly
Awesome video. You and your wife have great on screen chemistry. She should make cameos more often.
I agree! :)
That headboard looks awesome. I love the bowties and how they contrast with the slab.
I dislike contrasting bowties, but that's just personal preference. He did a good technical job.
@@carlotta4th Okay.
Thanks, yeah the contrast makes all the difference. Love it
Great job. It looks amazing with your cupboards. 🎉
Thanks!
Your explanation of all my interactions with a stud finder is just classic! 😂
I hate that stupid thing. lol
Beautiful work sir.
Great work & beautiful headboard Drew! Those reading lights were the icing on the cake! 👍👍
I have to ask where did you get your jackhammering chisel set? You were cleaning up those mortises like it was nothing. Love the finished product!
That set of chisels is called Two Cherries

Gorgeous!! I love that finish... I am going to try this finish on my next project!!
Have fun!
Beautiful work Drew!!! Now the only thing left for the bedroom would be a nice dresser. Happy New Year to you and your family Drew. Stay warm up there.
We have that in our closet. Next is a nice walnut bench at the foot of the bed
@@FishersShop Maybe you could do that in a Japanese style pegged mortise & tenon😉🔮
@@FishersShop I think it should be a chest instead of just a bench. More storage is always better.
Always enjoy your videos!! Great work!
Glad you like them!
When I saw that crack in the wood I was certain we were destined for yet another Epoxy River Table (headboard) type thing! Oh no! just what the world needed! Instead we got the awesome Bow TIes!
Yes! The last thing I wanted to do was mess with epoxy again. Too messy
Gorgeous headboard.. neat job Drew. well done mate.
Thank you!

That's a stunning slab.
I agree. It turned out awesome
Beautiful! Nice work👍🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
That tongue oil looks good on there! Beautiful headboard
Hey thanks! Yeah, I've used the tung oil for my last several projects and it's becoming my go-to finish
Absolutely a beautiful job well done. Could use one of those turbo planers but out of my $$$ range. I’ll keep looking. Thanks for the info over the years and the laughs.
You bet! Thanks for watching
Can't wait until you build a new house WITH WALNUT studs... 😁
Well done as usual.
Thanks again!
Hearing how your "oh crap" is contagious enough to infect the rest of your family really made this blooper reel special.
Haha
Nice!
Love your videos. And repping Tommy Boy.... NICE!
Thanks!
Listen to the song of my people..."Oh crap!"
More outtakes!
Another instant classic! Love your work. I’ve never seen that plane disc for a grinder before. That’s interesting.
Pricey, but worth it! It works wonderfully.

Funniest Fisher Shop video I have ever watched "the profound literature" , the flat head screws 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Looks great. The only other thing I would have done if it were mine would be to add black epoxy to that knot.
I didn't want to mess with epoxy for this. Too messy and I never get it just right
@@FishersShop I can understand that. I love working with it. Ever need any help with it feel free to reach out
I was half expecting your slab hunting to involve one of your neighbor’s trees 😂

Happy New Year Drew AND family. Glad to see you got us off to a GREAT 2K24 by posting a video.
