actually, did you know that only girl reindeers have their horns for December? all male reindeer shed theirs in November and grow them back every January, which also means that all of Santa's reindeer are girls!!!! Crazy right?

Fun fact, not only do female caribou have antlers but they have them during the winter. Since the males use their antlers to compete for mates in the summer and lose them in the winter, the females have antlers in the winter and lose them in the summer in order to protect the herd.
By this logic, either all of Santa's reindeer don't actually have antlers or they are all girls.

Dollightful, to answer your question Yule is the Pagan holiday that most Christmas traditions were borrowed from. It's basically the O.G. non-Christian Christmas.

Yule is the best
Yule is the original Christmas. The early Christians moved their celebration of the birth of Jesus to coincide with Yule celebrations in order to avoid persecution. It's the same story with Easter, the date of Easter moves around the way the Pagan Spring celebration does for the same reason. Ironically this came full circle when African slaves brought to Christain and Catholic households renamed the Voodoo spirits to the various saints and holy people of Christain/Catholic beliefs. The slaves wanted to practice their faith without getting in trouble from the white people who owned them.

Yule is a pagan holiday! It takes place the night before the solstice and you stay up all night to observe the solstice! My mother is pagan and my father is Christian so every year we open one of our Xmas presents at midnight on the solstice.. hope that made sense!

AH YES YULE! Yule is an old pagan germanic tradition thats on the day of the winter soltice. Also it's been connected to Odin and The Wild Hunt (its basically where a bunch of supernatural creatures go around running-they can kidnap you if you're seen out; they're an omen of plague and war too..) I think Yule is one of Loki's big holidays too... (i missed yule and now i feel bad... next year i guess)

Yule is a Pagen holiday celebrated on the winter solctice. I can't say I know a lot about the lore or why it's celebrated, because my family doesn't celebrate it every year due to Christmas stealing all the thunder. When we do celebrate it, though, we do it by decorating a log of firewood with things like ribon and pinecones and cinnamon sticks and paper bows. Then, we burn it, and use the ashes to start the fire for next year's Yule log :)

She is extremely cute! I think the curls failed because you kept the original doll hair, and MH uses Ceran(idk how to spell it) hair, which doesn't hold curls very well. I may be wrong but that may be why the curls unsprung :(

good question!!
So, I'm a practicing witch, and Yule is actually a wiccan/pagan holiday! It celebrates the winter solstice which is December 21st. It is known as the rebirth of the sun, meaning from that day forward the days are gonna start to get longer and longer again!
It's usually celebrated with bon fires and ofc the yule log (which in today's age is a cake or a smaller chunk of wood able to hold 3 candles) but it used to be a huge ass log that was either harvested or gifted (never bought) and chucked into the fireplace decorated with seasonal greenery and doused in ale or cider and flour. it'd then be lit with the previous years piece of yule log and set ablaze then left to smolder for about 12 days and later put out.
it's also pretty similar to christmas and the same traditions are used during christmas as yule. Adam ruins everything did an episode on it too which i highly recommend.

Yule is the traditional pagan holiday. It's ment to welcome the winter. It's a time to make wishes for the new year, pray to ancestors and or the powers above.
Since you mentioned being tense about the rhinestones, there's an art tool called a Crystal Katana that allows you to pick them up one at a time, see what you're doing, and has a metal tip on the other end to readjust if needed. They sell them on crystalninja.com. I'm not a repainter, bit I make books and use it when making detailed jeweled covers that could be messed up with fingers.

I have no interest in dolls, but I'm always fascinated by ideas people have for repurposing an object. This was very interesting. I'll give you a two thumbs up.
The only thing I think she should've had was a more deer-like nose like Isi Dawndancer, but aside from that she looks beautiful
Remulia reindeer doesn't have the skin-like nose as deer do, so it would make the doll look more like a normal deer than the christmas fuzzies we all know and love !

Yuliya's outfit is beautiful! The red with white lace really conjures up memories of childhood Christmases and beloved, hand-made felt decorations. The colour palette you used for her face and hair makes me think of gingerbread (in addition to reindeer), so all round she's a very warm and cosy doll :)

For a stock box Project, you should do Bambi!! Since Bambi’s a boy, i think it’d be appropriate to make a feminine boy doll if possible! As great as your work is, i’m not sure if you can find a certain sculpt to fit that description however, so if you do the Bambi project, i imagine you can still make it turn out great!
I don't think she is too complicated. Yulia really brings all elements of Christmas. I love the accent panel on her dress!
