- What larks! I do love a few days at the #chelseaflowershow.
This year I was enormously complimented to be invited to judge the floristry of #chelseainbloom so I headed up to London Town on Sunday for the judges' dinner and a quick scoot around the show gardens before press previews on Monday.
Monday morning saw me out of the hotel (thank you @The_RHS for putting me up at the Premier Inn in Earl's Court for a couple of nights) bright and early and in the show ground much too eager to wait and have breakfast first.
And for the next several hours I had a ball, seeing the planting, being inspired to add new plants to the list, chatting to some friends, congratulating others - especially Naomi Slade who designed and built the #floodresilientgarden (with a tiny bit of help last weekend from my seventeen year old who had some pretty invaluable work experience there.) I shopped at @niwaki and I tried on jewels worth many thousands (see the #Boodles jewels part of the clip.) Fabrizio bought a hat and talked wild orchids. I posed in a flower crown and gave lovely Derry Watkins of Special Plants nursery, a neighbour who has a gorgeous treasure trove of plants she grows and sells just north of Bath.
By 3pm I was ready for a lie down so thank goodness we underlings were chucked out before the arrival of the new patron of @The_RHS our very own King Charles. So my pearls and I retired for a lie-down and to watch our lad helping planting having been filmed the previous weekend and having his 15 seconds (or possibly a bit less) of fame on the telly that evening.
Tuesday had me up early again and off to judge the amazing entries into #chelseainbloom - no time to film this time, we were hard at work and seriously concentrating so that when we chose The Conran Shop they were considered by all worthy winners.
Finally, slightly reeling from information overload and general noise I headed through the rain for a little swish down the road on the 22 bus. And now, back to cutting wedding flowers in the rain it does all feel as though it was a bit of a dream.

I agree with all the other commenters who say your video is far better than the BBC cover of the show. You’ve shown us far more in this one video than they show in a week. On behalf of all those like me who could never attend in person, I’d like to thank you for showing us all the things we would want to see!

press day is heaven and I'm v lucky when I get a pass - I'm only five foot two and would struggle to see much on other days x

I paid £92 for my Saturday ticket. I haven’t had a holiday for years and rarely go out. I work in a stressful job,so reason that I can justify this expense. I adore flowers and all things nature related and am visit the show with a dear friend I rarely see. All in all it should be a memorable day on Saturday. Thankyou so much for your very good quality and very informative visit to the Chelsea Flower Show 💐🤗

So enjoyed this and lovely to see the British plant and flower exhibits, not covered by the BBC. Perhaps they were too busy interviewing Z list 'personalities ' , those bewildered and bemused at finding that Chelsea actually has flowers and plants. Yours is a gardener's view of Chelsea, made for gardeners. Brilliant. Thank you.

Way back in 1992 I (an American) was living in London. My aunt sent me two, preview-day tickets to something I'd never heard of -- the Chelsea Flower Show! I didn't find anyone else to go with me, so I went by myself and gave the other ticket to someone at the gate. I enjoyed myself, but I wish I'd understood what a prestigious event it was (I got an inkling when I was hurried along from one display because Margaret Thatcher was coming to see it). I'd LOVE to have the same opportunity now that I'm an avid gardener! Thank you so much for the tour. I hope to make it back there some day.

I so enjoyed your tour. Have watched Chelsea on Gardeners World here in the Pacific Northwest of USA. )Yes, where kindness and integrity are failing) You made it so personal and informative. Thank you. We left out coastal home of 45 years in the Pacific Northwest 7 years ago Our garden was cottage garden inspired. Now we live in the inner valley or Oregon on the foothills of the Cascades. It has been an adventure of restoration on the back 1/2 acre which includes a wetland with skunk cabbage that transforms into tall lovely lady ferns. We have enjoyed planting native trees, shrubs, and flowers. But right outside our back porch and patio is my ode to cottage gardening. We had a severe ice storm which did take out part of the perennials so this has been inspiring to get me back on track. Also I purchased your recommended short shovel.. I use it sitting down on the slopping part of out property. You are lovely to watch. Keeps me away from the news! Thank you. Lani (planted white sweet peas at my daughter's request for the bouquets 25 years ago . Nothing like a sweet pea!

Thank you Georgie that was wonderful. Such colourful gorgeous flowers. Great seeing London again I was there in 2017 and really loved it, what a great city. Our flower show is in April at the Exhibition Gardens and the hall of flowers is in our Melbourne Exhibition Building which is the most beautiful building. Bit of advice re comfortable shoes. It always pays to take 2 pairs if you’re there for the day. Start off with the trainers and then either those folded shoes or flip flops. And why doesn’t anybody show the Bandstand and eatery areas. Such a lovely place to stop for lunch. Packed or bought.
