I think the 45p is a little slower in focusing speed because of the smaller motor inside the lens. I would buy the compact lens rather than the bigger 3.5. There is a big price difference too. Thanks for the video!

Fantastic video. Used the same x1d50c and 45/F4 P combo at Madeira last year. Fantastic travel kit.

Yes for sure, I took it to Tokyo and it was so easy to carry around!

Excellent Sir, I can backup some of the same observations through my use of the 45P. I like everything except I actually miss the shutter sound of the 45.
I have actually tried to shoot"macro" with the 45P, and between the focusing distance and being able to crop it turned out to be fun. Pics were not Rustin spec but were pretty fair. :)

Awesome!! yeah I guess the focus is slower for the 45P because its a smaller lens (smaller motor)? thats like the only thing I didnt like about it :)

Another difference, unless I missed it, is no weather sealing for the smaller version.

The blackout after each shot is brutal.

Yeah its weird, it seems like after I turn off the X1D to change lenses, then turn it back on again, and take the first shot, the black out is just too long.... I am assuming on the X1D II they fixed it.

You shouldn't have used the filters when testing focus or aperture. You are losing stops right there. Hasselblad is investing millions in the world's most sophisticated glass, and putting cheap glass on top doesn't make sense. I have been shooting for 25 years for a living and have never used any glass on top of lenses and no issues. Use filters only when you want to achieve a certain look or need to stop down without closing the iris. UV filters are a myth. But thanks for the video anyway. It was helpful. I was going to swap my 45 with the new P version. Seems like a needless thing to do.

I also agree with you 100%, I do not use filters on my lenses at all!! It was my friends lens that had the UV filter on :) I just didnt want to take it out as it wasnt my lens.

Turn off the music so we can ear the focusing sound.

Sorry I do not know the firmware version at the time, I do not have the X1D anymore.

The original 45 colour looks a slight more saturated.

    Slow as bollocks to focus

Yeah, we cant really complain, medium format isnt supposed to be fast, but would be cool if it was faster to focus :)
