    Small correction: Celebrimbor wasn’t the fifth son of Fëanor, but rather one of his grandsons. His father was Curufin

      And another small inaccuracy, if my memory serves me right: Sauron wasn’t captured by the Numenoreans at the end of the War of the Elves and Sauron, but rather when Ar-Pharazôn marched right into Mordor hundreds of years later, after Sauron had already recovered again

      @@stockjock400rdw Wow, I hadn't realised exactly how long that would be! It's said the Elves (including him) first awoke in the Year of the Trees 1,050 and he died in YT 1,495. Assuming he led the Noldor from near the get-go, he therefore did so for 445 Years *of the Trees* - however, since each YT = 144 solar years, this means (if my maths is correct) that he ruled for what we would understand to be 64,080 solar years!
      I had assumed it would be Finarfin who ruled the Noldor for the longest time. But Finarfin ruled only during the Years of the Sun (from 1,496 YT onwards), i.e. First Age (590 years), Second Age (3441 years) and Third Age (3021 years) - in total 7,052 solar years by the start of the Fourth Age. This isn't to be sniffed at of course, but it's nowhere close to Finwe.
      But yes, Gil-Galad's claim to be the longest-reigning Noldor High King is for the Middle-Earth Noldor, not the ones of Aman.

    • @stockjock400rdw
      @stockjock400rdw 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sweeperboy Very good job man on the math. Yes I saw him or someone say it was Middle Earth. Thanks for doing the math though. I never really dove into the math of it. Figured he ruled for over 9000 years or so before being killed by Morgoth.
      One thing I still need someone to clarify for me though. If all Elves are re-embodied in Aman after they die, how come Finwe just does not become King again after he returns. Always kind of wondered that.

    Sauron did not surrender to the Númenoreans after his defeat in the War of the Elves and Sauron. That war ended in S.A. 1701 with Sauron retreating to Mordor. It wasn't until S.A. 3261 that the Númenoreans under King Ar-Pharazôn, sent a massive force to attack Mordor. Upon realizing his own forces were completely outmatched, Sauron surrendered in 3262. That's over 1500 years later and under a completely different set of circumstances.
    Celebrimbor was the son of Curufin, the 5th son of Fëanor.
    When Sauron first attacked Gondor, Isildur went north to seek aid from his father Elendil. However, his brother Anarion was in Gondor not Arnor. The brothers were co-rulers of Gondor and Anarion remained in Gondor to lead the defense against Mordor when Isildur went north.

So basically he is a descendant of the greatest kings of both Noldor and the Sindar. When I think about it, he is the obvious choice to be king of both Sindar and Noldor. My comment was based on what we know they are doing with Tolkien's Second Age. Hobbits did nothing of importance in the Second Age, except maybe migrate. Galadriel didn't even dream about going to Numenor, but Amazon will have her there. I am sure they are saving their worst event and character depictions for the series debut. Jeff Bezos's Middle Earth, not Tolkien's. Watch how many created heroes they have in the series that don't even exist in the Legendarium, starting with Sir Lenny Henry's Harfoot.

      During the Third Age, few of Noldorin Elves remained in Middle-earth, with most of them living in Rivendell with Elrond (Glorfindel being one of them).
      Little by little they set sail to the West, until none were present after Aragorn II Elessar was King, and the Dominion of Men started.

    • @sweeperboy
      @sweeperboy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As Leonardo said, most had either been killed or sailed into the West by the time of the 3rd and certainly the 4th Age. Galadriel was of course one of the great 3rd Age Noldor (although technically she was only a quarter Noldor, the other components being quarter Vanyar and half Teleri) and we know she left Middle-Earth for Valinor.
      Perhaps the main legacy of the Noldor is the remaining - and dwindling - Dunedain, especially those descended from Elros who (along with Elrond) had significant Noldor ancestry. I doubt however that there were many "pure" Noldor remaining in Middle Earth by the 4th Age, if any.

    I may be too powerful/strong to be a big character in the show so, I think he's going to be mentioned and slowly presented

    Wow. Just wondering if you did research and if so did you stop short. First off the wars of the Elves and Sauron Tar-Minastir did send a naval force to help the Elves, they succeeded in driving Sauron back but "NOT" capturing him. He swore revenge on the Numenoreans for this action.
    Ar-Pharazon was the king who captured Sauron and took h back to Numenor.
    I will probably find time to listen to this again, but I truly hope you do better research before making a video that has some incorrect info in it.

      By perfect right? None.
      Elrond could try to claim the crown, but not only he was not a perfect fit, also there were too few of the Noldor to rule.

    • @sweeperboy
      @sweeperboy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would say Elrond had every right as the chosen successor of Gil-Galad, despite not being fully Noldor himself....although Galadriel might beg to differ being older and more powerful arguably and as one who had seen the Light of the Trees. I still think though had there been enough Noldor to rule over, it probably would have been Elrond had he wanted it.

    • @leonardofaber5823
      @leonardofaber5823 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sweeperboy I was not talking about Elrond being full Noldor. It's more to the point he was not from masculine right.
      Sure, he was second in command after Gil-galad in certain aspects, and he was one of the most important Elves; still, not a perfect fit.

    I know this is a random question, and has nothing to do with Gilgalad, but is there a reason that Sauron need help to make the rings, and couldn't just do it himself?

    • @TheBrokenSword
      @TheBrokenSword  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He could make rings, he just knew they would not necessarily be accepted if made by him, even in his Annatar form. So, by using someone like Celebrimbor, who is related to Feanor, others are more likely to accept those rings! Meaning, it would be more unexpected when he began the forging of his own to corrupt all others :)

    Really hoping I'm wrong more corporatized Legendarium content comes out like The Hobbit movies (like forcing a government to pass anti-labor laws, for example), merely chasing profits instead of caring for the source material.

    Unfortunately, all of your excitement about exploring Gil-Galad's history in the Amazon Abomination was for naught.
    The vile desecration that is this atrocity of a show does nothing but destroy the lore, ruins every character and self-inserts the writers and their ridiculous woke politics that sh*ts on every character, makes every elf a total idiot, makes every man either a weak coward or completely evil, turns every woman into a warrior that can do everything better than a man and makes Sauron just a misunderstood incel which the show tried to force into a relationship with Galadrial, oh and her rejecting him is why he goes full evil.
    Just another mythical beloved franchise destroyed by the ever encroaching intersectional woke leftism/liberalism. Lord of the Rings now joins the ranks of destroyed legacies, which includes but not limited to,
    Star wars
    Star Trek
    Dr Who
    The Wheel of Time
    Indiana Jones
    Everything Marvel
    Everything Disney before 2010
    James Bond
    Superman
    DCEU
    And many more.
    All lost to the realm of woke remakes, reboots & remasters... They can't make anything original, so they corrupt ours. Tolkien said it best.
    "Evil cannot create anything new, it can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have already created....."
