They should’ve brought a for honor player on to explain certain things like the OOS throws, unblockables and hyper armor and why a lot of unblockables are telegraphed and leave you open on purpose
3:25, well, they did have axes used for fighting. They were called Ono. The ones I've seen in paintings were kinda like the upsized versions of woodcutting axes but some were decorated with gold.
Fun point: Because of how an axe is weighted and wielded it's very easy for even weaker individuals to generate very powerful strikes especially with downward swings as they leverage velocity and gravity to generate force. So someone who is quick rather than just strong could do some serious damage to an opponent while wielding an axe. The acrobatics is just fan service tho
It's kinda sad they poorly edited this 😂😂I mean every character is apparently orchi and kensi also kinda funny how they completely left shinobi out if it damn he really is that bad
apparently shinobi uses a really unrealistic weapon which is actually a farming tool or something like that. i don't think they wanted to showcase that to experts
@@nickh9712 yeah the weapon used is a kusarigama it's a old farm tool used to tend to crops however it's design was intended for farming it was a formidable weapon to be used and was used but very rarely or was seen as a last resort kinda weapon buy it was still commonly used and with years of experience could be lethal in the right hands it's said that apparently there was actually some sort of samurai that did wield these weapons but it hasn't been confirmed
There was this “last ninja” guy who was interviewed by Asian boss. Dude said it’s a really great weapon for shinobi (who were usually in espionage missions) because if people asked who you were you can just say “im a farmer who works on the fields there”
Can we please just get like, a 40 minute version of this but with pro's from all four of the respective combat orthodoxies AS WELL as two people that know game balance, design, and animation so they can spend good time on all the factions AND get an explanation for the deviance from the game's perspective (smoother animation, power fantasy, competitive balance, fluid gameplay, unique and fun feats, just looking cool and fun for... fun).
One thing that threw me off was that they said that there was no axes in Japanese history. There’s an ax called masakari(?) (I think I butchered it) but it was most definitely used
yes axes were used by the feudal age Japanese, just not the double sided axe like we see Hito using. I assume the devs just made it double sided to differentiate her from the viking's raider
Gladiator is a completely alien concept to everyone. He's a Retiarius with an identity crisis, so there's really nothing to compare him to. His fighting style, realistically, would absolutely suck too.
I would love for you guys to do this again, it looks like that you guys have missed a BIG portion of those characters move sets. You guys should go out and get an actual footage from someone that knows move sets.
@Devenn Eng Well, that's a pretty complicated fighting game, and only thing that worth showing was deflect and shinobi, also a lot of references in executions, than movesets, they could show a couple, but i don't think they would invite some high ranked player just for demonstrate game properly
For Honor exists in a universe where the world has been in a constant war for thousands of years, so it's slightly excusable that many characters would by crazy strong, stronger than any normal fighter, but even so some of the stuff For Honor characters do is physics-breaking lol
I'm pretty sure this was filmed before ""option selects" were added to the game, but those use a bit of what these guys are talking about. They mention that on some of the mixup moves, like Aramusha's top heavy into side light, there is lot of time during the attacks that leave you open. Lots of players use this time to cut off attacks by throwing their own very quick attack, which on certain things can interupt a mixup entirely.
The weapon shugoki (big lad) uses is the kanabo (sometimes called tetsubo depending on what material is used). It is the anti-armour weapon that was used by the samurai and both onehanded and twohanded variants existed. The axe from hitokiri is a strange one. I did find cases of both ono (normal tool axes) and masakari (war axes) being used, but they never looked like in the game, they looked more like viking type axes and mostly single bearded ones. Fun fact: most naginata blades could be mounted on a katana handle and it would be classified as a katana (the reverse applies aswell). I like to call the naginata the "katana on a stick".
@@contradictator7482 the are not experts from Japan, they are experts on japanese Swords. Again expertise and ethnic background have nothing to do with each other.
Samurai did use axes. Not two-headed axes, but they did use some large axes. They were called Fuetsu, or Ono. Not common, but they did get used in combat.
At 1:10 You are right you can actually interrupt many characters who are doing this by lighting them or breaking their guard (since as you said they are exposed) however some characters have hyper armour so basically think of it as peacekeeper couldn’t stop shugoki from throwing an attack with a dagger pierce etc
Something that should be explained to them is that, when the characters are doing big long spinning attacks that they claim would open them up, it DOES open them up in game to punish them for

It’s like showing Berserker without feints or dodge attacks.
Orochi should’ve been deflecting, Hitokiri and Shugoki should be trading blows. I get that they’re showing simple moves but there needs to be some context as to how e character should be played.
It's kinda sad they poorly edited this 😂😂I mean every character is apparently orchi and kensi also kinda funny how they completely left shinobi out if it damn he really is that bad
pooRussia, Shinobi are real things
apparently shinobi uses a really unrealistic weapon which is actually a farming tool or something like that.
i don't think they wanted to showcase that to experts
@@nickh9712 yeah the weapon used is a kusarigama it's a old farm tool used to tend to crops however it's design was intended for farming it was a formidable weapon to be used and was used but very rarely or was seen as a last resort kinda weapon buy it was still commonly used and with years of experience could be lethal in the right hands it's said that apparently there was actually some sort of samurai that did wield these weapons but it hasn't been confirmed
@@benjaminsguitarchannel6505 ninjas were know for using farming tools as deadly weapons, and use hidden blades in clothes and staffs in them...
There was this “last ninja” guy who was interviewed by Asian boss. Dude said it’s a really great weapon for shinobi (who were usually in espionage missions) because if people asked who you were you can just say “im a farmer who works on the fields there”
"It's all Kensei and Orochi?"
"Always has been..."

Can we please just get like, a 40 minute version of this but with pro's from all four of the respective combat orthodoxies AS WELL as two people that know game balance, design, and animation so they can spend good time on all the factions AND get an explanation for the deviance from the game's perspective (smoother animation, power fantasy, competitive balance, fluid gameplay, unique and fun feats, just looking cool and fun for... fun).

I would have liked to see them react to deflects. Especially Orochi's
Btw, it is possible to backflip with extra weight
There are people who have done backflips with loaded barbells and stuff
i think the reason why they have like open spots to be hit its to make the character balanced instead of a character thats perfect
I love these videos
The picture and your profile picture reminds me of something ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
One thing that threw me off was that they said that there was no axes in Japanese history. There’s an ax called masakari(?) (I think I butchered it) but it was most definitely used
yes axes were used by the feudal age Japanese, just not the double sided axe like we see Hito using. I assume the devs just made it double sided to differentiate her from the viking's raider
Yea but not the axe that they were talking about.
Turner Austin exactly, it looks hella cool tho so its fine
also when they said "war club" that its a Kanabo a real historical Japanese weapon
I want to see some masters reacting at moveset of centurion and gladiator
Gladiator is a completely alien concept to everyone. He's a Retiarius with an identity crisis, so there's really nothing to compare him to. His fighting style, realistically, would absolutely suck too.
This duo & the marines are mad interesting to watch
They should react to all the samurai executions in For Honor
The names on the characters are completely off lmao
We should have experts react to executions.
I would love for you guys to do this again, it looks like that you guys have missed a BIG portion of those characters move sets. You guys should go out and get an actual footage from someone that knows move sets.
Yeah, very little was shown compared to the actual game...
@Devenn Eng Well, that's a pretty complicated fighting game, and only thing that worth showing was deflect and shinobi, also a lot of references in executions, than movesets, they could show a couple, but i don't think they would invite some high ranked player just for demonstrate game properly
Devenn Eng I believe it would’ve been better if a professional knew what they were doing instead of throwing out random attacks
I like how the Orochi is shown as the opponent for every round but has the least time on screen lol.
I love how they didnt even bother showing shinobi lmao

For Honor exists in a universe where the world has been in a constant war for thousands of years, so it's slightly excusable that many characters would by crazy strong, stronger than any normal fighter, but even so some of the stuff For Honor characters do is physics-breaking lol
1:47 “that’s what it’s for” had me laughing so hard I choked 😂
I'm pretty sure this was filmed before ""option selects" were added to the game, but those use a bit of what these guys are talking about. They mention that on some of the mixup moves, like Aramusha's top heavy into side light, there is lot of time during the attacks that leave you open. Lots of players use this time to cut off attacks by throwing their own very quick attack, which on certain things can interupt a mixup entirely.

Do the new game Ghost of Tsushima
Waiting for “Japanese sword reacts to For Honor”
Finally
The weapon shugoki (big lad) uses is the kanabo (sometimes called tetsubo depending on what material is used). It is the anti-armour weapon that was used by the samurai and both onehanded and twohanded variants existed.
The axe from hitokiri is a strange one. I did find cases of both ono (normal tool axes) and masakari (war axes) being used, but they never looked like in the game, they looked more like viking type axes and mostly single bearded ones.
Fun fact: most naginata blades could be mounted on a katana handle and it would be classified as a katana (the reverse applies aswell). I like to call the naginata the "katana on a stick".
i love this series. these people must be fun at parties.

I was looking for the knights and came across a landfill of weebs
We've gotta give them someone who can explain some of this. LOL love it.
Samurai did use axes. Not two-headed axes, but they did use some large axes. They were called Fuetsu, or Ono. Not common, but they did get used in combat.
1.kensai vs orochi 2.shugoki vs hitoroki 3.aramusha vs nobushi
the fact that we've already said most of this as a community is just reassuring to hear it from experts #Ubisoft
At 1:10
You are right you can actually interrupt many characters who are doing this by lighting them or breaking their guard (since as you said they are exposed) however some characters have hyper armour so basically think of it as peacekeeper couldn’t stop shugoki from throwing an attack with a dagger pierce etc
Something that should be explained to them is that, when the characters are doing big long spinning attacks that they claim would open them up, it DOES open them up in game to punish them for
Nice video, cant wait to see more on for honor
