    The more I watch your videos the more I find it cool to have someone who has finally understood that it’s by watching that we can judge and not just give our opinion when we have no concrete examples. I’m really lucky to have found your channel for a few years now. Thank you 💋!!!!!!!!

    RotJ has never looked better! To me it looked the worst in the OT especially in the 2013 Bluray release, but the new 4K version’s colour grading and depth really made it stunning. In fact, it made me re-appreciate the film even more.

    Amazing Transfer.Reminds me of the original cinema release.

    These look amazing! Return of the Jedi has never looked better on physical disc and is very close to how it looked originally! The only thing I have noticed, and this is throughout all of films with the new 4K transfers is that there are some scenes that look like they naturally brought down the saturation of the film and then changed the color grading, making it look amazing. However in other scenes, it looks like they just changed the color grading without bringing down the saturation. This still makes it look better than the 2011 Blu-rays but creates a weird dull saturation of the scene, if that makes sense. Btw, I'm looking at this video through a 4K screen but one that is not capable of HDR, so I may be missing that.

      You are missing out if you don't have HDR, that's for sure. 4k isn't really that much of an improvement, it's the HDR with WCG where the real magic is at.

    I really loved the OT trilogy transfer. The color palette was so Natural and sharp. Must have if you're a fan.

    ROTJ is least favorite of the original trilogy but the bike sequence is the best scene of the trilogy because its juxtaposition of nature and technology perfectly epitomize Star Wars' appeal.

    I really like these new 4k Remaster!! The original 2011 Blu-Ray was overly saturated, and no skin color was natural (Lando looked more like Donald Trump) but this new transfer makes all the colors look natural, and looks a lot closer to what it looked like when it first came out!!

      From a certain point of view, RotJ has aged really well.

    While I do appreciate these comparison videos, I don't think the Description "Regular Version" is specific enough, it doesn't clearly explains what's being compared here.
    These are completely different a/v masters, from different scans of the original negative and different digital restorations.
    To be fair understanding the technical details behind the many home video releases of the original trilogy isn't straight forward, as the information isn't clearly identified anywhere, you have to piece it all together from different articles. I'll try to explain what I mean, this applies to the comparison videos for A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
    The 2019 Blu-Ray disc release is a simple a repackaging of the same disc authored for the 2011 Blu-Ray release, which used the same 2K scan of the special edition negative commissioned for the old 2004 DVD release....this scan was digitally restored by Lowry Digital and newly colour graded by Lucasfilm (introducing new blue and magenta tinting, exaggerated colour levels and crushed blacks)....this scan of the original negative was 17 years old when it was reused for the 2019 Blu-Ray disc release.
    The 2020 4K Ultra-HD disc release uses a new(ish) 4K scan of the special edition negative which had apparently been commissioned back in 2014 (??)...this scan was also digitally restored by Lowry Digital and presumably colour graded by Lucasfilm (this time with a more accurate colour presentation, although colour and brightness levels are now excessively muted)....this 4K scan of the original negative was approximately 6 years old when it was reused for the 2020 Ultra-HD disc release.
    This is an apples to oranges comparison video.
    Description should be titled something more specific, example: 2019(2011) Blu-Ray disc vs 2020 4K Ultra-HD disc with HDR10.
    For this to be a true apples to apples comparison video (as was done for the Rise of Skywalker comparison video), you would have to compare the 2020 Ultra-HD disc with the 2020 Blu-Ray disc (exclusively packaged with the Ultra-HD disc), this is a newly authored Blu-Ray disc, its 1K video down-sampled from the same 4K master used for the Ultra-HD disc. This will allow you to compare the exact same video in both disc formats: 1K Blu-Ray and 4K Ultra-HD with HDR10.

    Me watching Palps shock Luke in ROTJ: "Yeah there's no way they could have a creepier shot in the whole movie."
    Me seeing the shot at 18:44: "JESUS CHRIST!"

    They haven't been remastered?

    You’re using grabs from the 2011 blu ray for the “2019” blu ray, which are based on the same 4K transfer as the Disney plus and 4K versions.

    That isn't the 2019 Blu-ray. That's the 2011 Blu-ray. I want to see how the new transfers differ from each other.

    You needed to show the difference between the 4k and the blu ray from 2020 in the 4k release. There's not much difference between 4k and 1080p it's that close can nearly not see anything different at all between the UHD 4k and HD 1080p, same as the HDR is so similar to 1080p blu ray and yes I have a 10 bit QLED

    @jasonwilson556 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Star Wars should of been the gold standard for a 4K UHD Blu-Ray. Instead it's the worst transfer that I've seen.
    The color grading is dull and lifeless. HDR doesn't make colors pop. And many scenes are way too dark.
    Absolutely TERRIBLE job by Disney!

    Still not the original version of the movies so who cares?

    • @Mymoonization
      @Mymoonization  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well…..this new version isn't bad, except that George Lucas overdid it unnecessarily. And so he exaggerated in my opinion the original aspect of his first cinematic vision.
      Thx for your comment anyway !
