    Living in Australia Bjorn, It is amazing to see all those new high capacity chargers on your travels.
    We are a long way behind with our electric charger roll out, down here in Australia.

      Some PHEV are a good compromise. Especially if taking the manufacturing emissions into account.

    Looks like some mild coldgating. In my EQA I pretty consistently get between 110 and 114kW around 20-40%. But that's in Germany at higher speeds, and with the car picking out most chargers (and thus preheating reliably).

      @@RedBatteryHead I'm looking at specifically the 60kwh, what are some examples that come to mind? I'm aware that the MG zs ev could be a contender, but I will bend far to try not to support China directly (can of worms, I know, and many issues that make it difficult to always be on the right side of that)

    An interesting thing is iX3 and Polestar both had a much better time in winter - faster charging maybe and bigger batteries must help, as EQA consumption was similar or lower.
    (Also, a bug in the spreadsheet for Tesla 3 SR: Temp interval and Temp average doesen't compute.)

    Why does Kampower and others install only 120kw chargers instead of 300kw? Is this common in Norway or specific to some regions? Over here, new stalls usually have 300kw - more and more charging hubs with 12-50 charge points are build. But still lots to do 🙋‍♂️ PS: Thank you gor your great work! I watch a video of you every day 💚

    • @bjornnyland

      How many cars support 300 kW today?

    • @abenteuerelektrisch8977
      @abenteuerelektrisch8977 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bjornnyland you are right, but Ioniq5, EV6, etron, tycan and others are in the 200+ range. So The predominant chargers are 300 kw Alpitronic here also to increase accepance because many newbees get upset if their car does not reach max. possible charging speed

  • @mre6041
    @mre6041 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So the first charging stop came after 240km. 100% to 8%. That is aweful in perfect highway conditions. That is half of what Mercedes claims. New standards for range must happen. What if a fossil fuel car declared 1l/10km highway and in fact it was double that...

    • @adrianguggisberg3656
      @adrianguggisberg3656 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's exactly what happens if you do a 1000km challenge with a fossil just driving city stop and go traffic. With an EV you get much better consumption than WLTP in this case. That's just the way this works. Range is an average, obtained from some standard driving cycle. I agree that for EVs the only range that matters is motorway range. Range/consumption for EVs should be evaluated at 120kph/15 degrees Celsius. However, range is only part of the equation. You really want to know average speed including charging. Anything above 95kph is close enough to fossil speed as to make no real difference.

      I can't imagine you regretting it! I came from a GTE and the EQA is a nice upgrade. The main weakness is the low seating height (or high floor) for the rear seat. But it's fine unless you're using it as a taxi ;-)
