- Lift Foils makes the eFoil, a foil surfboard with a motor to let surfers surf with no wind, waves, or paddles. The "flying" surfboard uses the same foiling technology used in sailboat racing. This allows the eFoil to cut through water. The eFoil retail for $12,000.

Why it's 12k ? for what ? surf board with intel fan ... buy a jetski for half of this price and guess what ? it's faster safer and you can sit while you "exploring the seas".. just imagine while you surfing on this you hit a rock or beach..what will happen ? no 12k in your pocket .. no more :D

I hate how companies now adapts don’t understand the law of supply and demand. Like they price these things so high for a prophet bc all the know is “phrophet, money money money” when they would be making SO many more sails and money if they simply lowered the price.

If there’s a rental market for the water jet shoe things, there’s a rental market for this. Probably even a better one, this is easier to learn & you don’t have to man the pump while someone uses it.

The strategy is that the early adopters with money will pay the $12k. When that market runs out your lower price, increase production and sell more. I wonder if there is a patent preventing others from enter this market? I am thinking the next price range will be $1,500 then settle to around $840 over the next 5 years. Not expensive to make. Batteries are the cost then motor, electronics and then fiberglass or composite for board and fin., So long as people want cutting edge and have money the price will be high.

The motors on these are not silent at all. In fact, they sound very obnoxious underwater and I'm sure disrupt wildlife habitat.

Cant use these in Australia in any surf as it's motorised. Has to be over 200m out to go over 5 knots. Nice idea but too expensive and too many rules and regulations to be a success unfortunately.

At this price point I think it'll be restricted to the super wealthy. Which is fine if that's your target market. For your everyday Joe/Josie who can stretch a little financially I would've thought around the 3.5k - 5k mark. Nice idea. But I'll have to stick to wave powered craft.

People complain about the price, but the engineering work and challenges involved with a design like this would take anyone else whole months if not years of time to develop + close to the list price of this if you account for iterations that don’t work. (because of course mistakes will be made if you decide to make on from scratch) Also, anyone saying “I’ll buy the chinese version for cheaper”, get ready to have a product that works only once or a shitty ass battery. One thing you don’t want with a battery this big is failure.
