    He was such an incredible guy. Imagine yourself at 78 years old and still the best at your craft. It´s totally amazing if you think about it.

      Not really.. A lot of people are still super good at stuff till almost 100. Jeff stayed off the hard stuff, was a vegetarian, worked on cars a lot to stay strong, did what he liked to do. That makes an incredible difference, if you get to do what you want most of the time. I saw videos the first woman commercially successful pro drummer in the US, Viola Smith. She has videos from 1939 till fairly recently. I saw interviews with her at age 103 and her mind was still super sharp, she told tons of cool stories and still played drums some.. never retired. Finally passed like in 2019 or so. Think of all those that never got famous that are still jamming in older age! So yes, good health can go a long way.

      He didn’t have kids to distract him. His wife didn’t seem too clingy. He could dedicate himself to his two main interests, playing guitar and working on his cars. All these things were to his advantage. He did things right. He seemed healthy…

      @Roland Mueller He had relatives and cared for his large estate and cared for animals. He grew vegetables, worked on and built scores of Hot Rods and played a lot of music. All these things gave him what he needed to achieve his desires.

    The Master, still at the top of his game at 78 years of age. Many people of that vintage would be all crippled up with arthritis or some other debilitating condition, I believe Mr. Beck took good care of himself, never heard much about him abusing drugs or booze, cars being his other outlet. Finally felled by meningitis, this world is so unfair. Thanks for posting this now monumental footage.

Second time, I saw him in a grand old theater and he brought Beth Hart out to sing "Ain't Superstitious" and she just tore it up. Beck was even better when he had a strong singer to play off of. I also got stuck in traffic next to Jeff one fine California summer day. He and his drummer Simon were racing in their 32 Fords. Thanks for this post .. hard as it is to accept I’ve come to think of a quick passing (in older age) as a kind of gift, rather than a long drawn out illness. Learned that lesson with my pops. What a treat to live in the time of JB’s mastery, I have thoroughly enjoyed many moments of JB inspired awe. RIP good sir, you are missed.

    The "OTHER" thing I loved about Jeff, was that he always had such great hair. Up there in his 70's, he still had hair like he was always 18.

    I share the sentiments of all here. As I have said in other comments, Jeff is the greatest guitarist of my generation. I'm 71 and studied many of the greatest guitarists over the past 60 years. So I have the credentials to unequivocally state as fact that "Jeff is the greatest guitarist of my generation." I'm listening as I write, Jeff is doing it again. He is blowing my freaking mind. DO YOU HEAR IT?

      You're welcome! I have most of the whole show, we were in the right balcony. I saw the 2 shows in NJ and then just decided to go to the last (I'm from Maryland). I have the bow at the end, just want to edit my crazy camera moves out of it first. So sad. Hard to believe!

    • @MochaDaisy8645
      @MochaDaisy8645 ปีที่แล้ว

      Two shows in NJ and the tour finale in Reno, huh? Although it makes me wonder if you thought of hitting the DC show much closer to MD, that’s pretty similar to my case in 2018. Instead of LA, I went to see Jeff in Utah just outside of SLC. I had my reasons, though. I had friends driving up from Albuquerque and it was opening night of the Stars Align Tour (JB with Paul Rodgers and Ann Wilson of Heart). Although I saved hundreds on my airfare and hotel, $130 for a concert ticket is the most I’ve ever spent. Still, no regrets whatsoever

    • @wishiwasthere
      @wishiwasthere  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Beanchowder I'm from NJ and my sister is a huge Johnny Depp fan so we went together to those. I picked Reno for my husband and I because I've never been to Reno (or Vegas even), we made seeing this show a short vacation to Nevada. It was beautiful, but I'm a baby when it comes to driving on mountain roads!

      @@MochaDaisy8645 Saw Jeff in Dallas in late September and had to see him again. Noticed Reno was the last of the tour so flew up from Albuquerque......got so wasted drinking in the casino I said screw it and upgraded to the center stage VIP booth on the credit card..... girlfriend treated me like a monk but it was the best show of my life.

    Thank you so much as this is very key video footage that will be remembered for years to come. I am so angry at myself for missing his show when he came through my city in October thinking I would see him on his next swing through but of course we know there will not be one. He was my all-time guitar hero and also one of my life heroes to be able to play this incredibly well at his advanced age like it’s nothing!
