I have a suspicion that the game or the engine handles collision on a case by case and above a certain velocity it doesn't match any intended case so there is no collision. Theres something similar when you set shocks to NaN I believe?

Honestly, this seems closer to a railgun/coilgun than a traditional missile. Not that that's a bad thing, railguns are cool.
