I wanted to check in with you about the whatnot app because I'm having a problem with the $15 credit. I signed up and it says I am following your channel, but I didn't seem to get any credit. I even purchased $20 worth of goods on an auction but they did not apply the credit and I can't find anywhere on the site that it says I have any credit at all. I emailed their customer support already but I thought I would check in with you. From the whatnot subreddit, it seems like this is a known issue -- you might want to give viewers some forewarning about the code next time, as the $15 credit is not particularly seamless or guaranteed.

@@curtmantle6554 sure thing. Draft boxes tend to cost about $110 or so, less than half of the price of this box. Getting $60 value out of a draft box feels bad, like in the Booster Box Game when there was only one type of box. The dollar value Prof pulled out of that first box would feel really bad coming out of a box that cost half as much. Losing half your money sucks, and he lost what, like 80? you know?

Bruh you can get a Seizan for under a dollar now too iirc if you get the MUL version, compared to $11 or so for jumpstart version
Def gonna pick up some of the stuff like Yarok and the like that would otherwise be crazy expensive before now as a result

I am a C+ student at Tolarian Community College, which also makes me the perfect WotC mark. I got back into Magic after a 12 year hiatus because of 40k Commander decks, and after watching so many of The Professor's content in the past for product reviews I figured I would be immune to collectors boosters....I wasn't prepared. They are gambling. I haven't bought a box of Collectors yet, but every week before the local pinball tournament, I walk over to the Local Game Store in the same center and pick up 1 or 2 to open after an evening of pinball. The LGS owner is certainly delighted to see me again, especially since the only other game I play is Heroclix that no store in my city carries. Now I'm a regular again, spending a good amount on a Local Business and getting in my opinion good value. I sometimes hit it big (Foil Praetors, Tutors, ect) but even the chaff feels nice from foil double sided tokens to showcase art to where I don't throw it away like a lot of players do. How do I retain my C status other than buying from a LGS? I still buy singles! Neon Kamigawa Collectors boosters only have one thing I want and it's the Lands. Brothers War Transformers are so cheap I have a display set of them showcasing both sides of the card at once. Still buy singles people, and if you must buy collectors, it's a lottery ticket that should be bought from your Local Game Store that provides a roof over your head and a table for play.

There is no "situation". Men were hired as private security and detectives to go to the house of someone who had just leaked a multi million dollar company's important new release which they had held secret and for which the "hype" is worth quite a lot of company value. Did I mention it was within the company's rights to not only approach the customer for the illegally leaked product? So far as we know: no one was hurt, no one was threatened with being hurt, no weapons were drawn, it's not even known if weapons were carried, no one has said they were cruel or mean or rude, no one was touched. They were there as representatives of the company so as to not endanger a company official in case the customer turned violent and had weapons of their own. Oh no, they said hey "Give us these back or we might sue you or you might face jail time for knowingly leaking an entire set of our product which we've worked years to build up to". If you think it's a "situation" because a company dared send private security and detectives instead of their own people after they said they were repeatedly ignored through other means of communication, I don't know what to tell you. The leaker should have responded AND he should have been smarter than to leak an entire set that was supposed to be very special for MTG. No sympathy for him unfortunately, he should have acted like an adult.

I like to draft at my lgs and I occasionally pick up some packs to crack for fun but between the less than stellar financial return on boxes and my general disinterest in the recent sets (plot and gameplay both, double whammy there) I haven't invested a ton of money in bulk. Singles all the way for me now

The fact the second box was worse UP UNTIL pulling Atraxa, Praetors Voice shows this set isn't just disappointing but these boxes are near valueless. I like my shiny blinged out cards as much as the next MTG player but I'd rather save for the shiny cards *I want* than just hope to God I pull them in packs.

Because their price is tied to scarcity. They're not special when you have a product that contains foils and full art in every other card . To me they aren't even appealing compared to just the standard cards. Full art and crazy alternative designs were once extremely cool and expensive because they stood out so much from the design language that was ubiquitous in the game. Now that this is so common, and there seems to be more alternative styles and crazy foiling then just the classic design, The thing that made it cool in the first place no longer applies. It's like you know everyone has their own taste and this is just mine, but to me it's similar to putting body kits on cars and putting a really loud muffler on, but doing nothing to the cars mechanics or engine. It's all flash and no substance, it's like to me the reason if Ferrari is desirable isn't just that it looks cool but that the design is in service to the function, if Kia copied the Ferrari body design, but didn't change anything else, this wouldn't make it Cool to me. I feel the same way about paying for skins and video games I just couldn't care less and actively think if you didn't earn the skin through something difficult than it is the opposite of cool. But I think this might be generational because kids these days as a whole seem really happy to support that kind of thing and into it, and seemingly don't care or see the contrived nature.

I still think a collector booster can be a great product for some purposes where the finantial value is secondary. One or two of those make for a great birthday gift: the value may not be on par with the actual cost, but they feel great and exciting to open while the unique artworks are perfect as memorabilia for your friends. No matter what your dear friend find in it they'll be happy to have open it for free :p

One of my friend gifted me a collector booster for my previous birthday and it felt really great to open at a party. With everyone in a circle, crouched on the cards, it felt just like when i was a kid, in a way a regular booster just doesnt. Thid product has a buttload of issues, but just for this feeling it is a success.

I miss the days when opening a pack was exciting and getting a foil of a sought after mythic or rare felt thrilling and you knew you could trade it for good value.
I initially enjoyed collector booster packs but it gets exhausting when there are so many variants and it's the whole when everything's special nothing is. I opened a foil extended art Jhoira and loved it but knowing it was only $1 felt bad.
I love that the game is more affordable but pack opening feels far less exciting when there isn't that chase to keep you going. I wish we could back to like regular, foil, and then one variant unique to the plane.

I almost choked when I saw Wurmbo! Holy hell prof! I've been watching Cody's Showdy since it's inception and I am so glad it is gaining more and more traction. 8 years and finally they are getting widespread appeal. I honestly think Some More News The Movie is a masterpiece and I will die on that hill. It's free to watch on TH-cam along with their other hundred+ videos. I recommend it to anyone with an open mind who is willing to see comedy and politics and film history and bizarreness mixed together for a feature length amount of time. It's definitely food for thought. Some News and Some More News is incredibly well researched and has a lot to say, though these days the bits are getting pretty unhinged between the facts. Be warned; it's weird. #NoMoreBoars
