We talk about it at bit at the end, I would guess cards will drop around 60% in the next few weeks, pretty much across the board. I'll try to do a short in a few weeks to revisit it.

Normally around 5-15% of the card will still hold up or go up in price, but the rest will drop harddddddd. We not even talking like 50% drop here, some drop like 70%.
The question is which one will stay and which one will drop.
Yeah, we talk about it at the end. If you compare to Modern Horizons 2 it's likely prices will drop like 60% in the next month or so. It's wild how high the prices are currently.

I didn't realize how inflated all of the jank is at the moment, lol. So many cards that will be $1 or $2 in a few weeks are like $7 or $10 today. It's wild. I only wish I could actually sell the cards at current prices.

@florianmazreku3577 you can only get the evoke elementals in the collectors and I think some other cards from old MH sets. Also you can only get serialized in collectors

I think it would be interesting to revisit this total in a couple of weeks after prices have some amount of validity. At the moment, the prices are whatever people are posting them for.
The distribution of these rares and mythics are is so weird. I don't remember the other horizon sets being like that

I go 13 mythics out of my Play Booster Box. That was insane. 2 Mythics were duplicates. I had two Ajanis in one deck
It seems to me that there are further subsets of rarity within the four rarity levels, even when it comes to the lower rarities. I have tons of some uncommon and common cards, with none of some others. In the 15 packs I've opened, I've only gotten a single writhing chrysalis, while I have 6 or 7 Skoa, Embermages. I wish it was the opposite because I actually want to run writhing chrysalis.
$2000 for 60 packs is insane
Yeah, even for Magic players the cost of this set is insane. We're used to things being stupidly expensive, but $2k for five boxes is something else.
Each pack has 4 rares so I guess you can see it like opening 240 packs lol
@@MidgarMerc not really even standard priced packs can have 3-4 rares in them too. And those boxes are a third the price. This set will tank if value fast sadly. Has a ton of hype and alot of the card will be opened. Market will be flooded causing most of them to crash. Wont be showed if the total price of the set halfs or even quarters within 2 weeks

@donovangray8949 not true. Play boosters have 60 percent chance of one rare, 37 percent chance of 2 and like 3 percent of 3 or more.

I really enjoyed this video. The prices, although inflated, made the value of the set really pop in a way that was fun to watch. This will come down, but for the time being enjoy those big values and the fun of cracking collector boosters!
Also you're right on the new Koz being the weakest, but I like it because it's the only titan that actually works as a sort of lord to your eldrazi.
Windswept Heath and Collected Company were reprinted in the Magic Origins Clash Pack. It had Honored Hierarch and Dromoka, the Eternal as the alt art foil cards.
Assuming that prices fall by half after the official release, I predict you make exactly $2000 back from these $2000 worth of boxes.
Arena of Glory feels like a great reason to revist your T3 Boar God Kills deck
New kozilek is actually nuts. In a deck that already has colorless creatures, like eldrazi tron, you don't HAVE to give your opponent the manifest creatures. It's a double anthem for your colorless creatures, and can help push I for damage OR dig for specific answers, giving a bunch of versatility as a big tron creature.

Only buy multiple boxes from the same case unless u pre open one. Because the cards are almost always similar in most of the boxes. It's not always bad either bought 3 eternal masters boxes from the same case. All three had mana crypt, force of will and Jace.

I've watched a bunch of these box openings, but I appreciate your commentary more than anything else. I always go to your spoiler vids because of the insight into the mechanics and potential power of each card, and it's cool to see a bit of that brought to the opening process. Hope to see more!

Man, Messing around on mono green in Arena Brawl with Bristly Bill is so fucking fun. Glad to see more Landfall types.
Bristly Bill seems like a fun commander. My current +1/+1 counters deck is Hamza, Guardian of Arashin, which is also really fun, as you can have some really explosive turns where you play a bunch of creatures. It's not quite Elfball, but it's definitely a creature storm commander.

Could the tokens of real cards thing be a way of wizards getting around the reserved list in the future? If they printed black lotus tokens I'm sure ppl would use them as proxies even though they are slightly thinner than normal cards

I purchased all boxes but the Collector. Plan on getting at least one a few weeks after the pricing settles.
I think the real old border fetches are so expensive. So it gives us access to them at a cheaper price point.
I listened to Mark Rosewater's podcast once when he talked about the design of Future Sight and how they designed Grandeur as a safety valve for drawing too many of your legendary creatures. But the 5 creatures it was printed on were not constructed playable for the most part, and it almost never came up in Limited because they were all rares. I guess the common legend is kind of a reference to that. Since it's a common you can now build around Grandeur in Limited and the mechanic will finally have its moment to shine a little.

For just about every set, I only play in the prerelease and make no other set purchases. Prerelease pack lets me open 6 packs from the set, which I think is a reasonable limit.
That said, this prerelease is going to sting at $60.
You could sac your One ring to crabomination for the discount and so the ring doesn't kill you. Just a thought
I'd think Windswept Heath would also be the worst because it doesn't fetch Mystic Sanctuary, doesn't fetch Dwarven Mine, and isn't in black for Bowmasters.
Yeah my guess would have been it is the only fetch that isn't in at least one Grixis color, though "there are theoretically more of them for X reason" is a pretty obvious safe guess to cost anomalies.

I’ve noticed this with the latest products that I’ve opened. Wizards is not printing equally all the rares and mythics on the setes, which leads to weird availability issues and the wild preorder fluctuations. There’s something weird about it.

Hey Seth, I would put Tarmogoyf Nest in my Rhys The Redeemed Squirrel Commander Deck for Infinite Tarmagoyf Token with Earthcraft as an alternative token win condition. Your thoughts? I'm also going to re-build my Mirri commander deck and with the new Ajani and the cat cards from this set.
Opening Polluted Delta has traditionally been a good skill to have.

my routine is buy one of those $50ish bundles with 8 packs and some promos of each set, gives me a taste of the set, the nostalgia of crackin packs and hopefully a good card or 2. Beyond that I buy the occasional commander precon, good deals I happen to see or buy singles. However I am going deep on MH3. I have a play booster box, a collector booster box and the eldrazi commander deck on preorder. I might pick up the energy commander deck as well, depending what I hit in the boxes. Both eldrazi and energy are things I would love to build a commander deck around, but energy lacked sheer volume of cards and eldrazi lacked the commander with more than just colorless identity that interested me. MH3 is just a prefect storm to me, the potential to build 2 new decks I am excited for + the fetches to hopefully finish decks I have been working on... and who doesn't like the excitement of potential serialized eldrazi

I haven't bought any MH3 physical cards, as they're too expensive for me, as are most Magic cards, but I did buy the preorder on Arena. I'm excited for these cards in Brawl (especially Grist in Sidisi, Witch Enchanter in Emiel, and Goblin Soultrader in Chatterfang), and I'm thinking of building K'rrik, Kaalia, and Herrigast.
I wonder if Ajani could be a modern brew with Oath of Gideon to instantly ultimate and some of the cheap white recursion.

Is there any evidence that the pull rates for mythics/rares are the same for all mythics/rares? Or is it just an assumption that each mythic should appear at the same rate across boxes?

Pattern recognition is real but, yeah, that was a strangely consistent set of boxes. Doesn't necessarily mean anything about the set distribution as a whole but it definitely feels like you 'beat the odds' on this.
Ashling is a phenomenal card in commander. She always pops on in my Dihada deck. 10:20
