In your opinion, is it better to wage a war (where many soldiers die and ordinary people suffer) than to poison the enemy leader and end the war? Canute must be a king to build his paradise on earth. Looting is already punishable under his command.
Because Canute ended the war, Thorkel is unhappy and angry with him.

That's just one side of the coin though. Canute's story is made cleaner looking through his lens as we follow him, but as we see later in the story, Canute's way isn't the best or only way. Did Canute try and look for another solution besides those two? or was poisoning the king just the easiest solution he could find?

You're right. Canute's path is not the only one and not the best in the absolute. But he is the real one and the only one, if we talk about the scale of the kingdom. Another way is a "dream" to strive for, and yet it is for one person@@backinmydaycartoons7957

Canute is saving a lot of lives by poisoning the higher-ups...Canute is also saving the lives of the enemy soldiers fighting on the other side as well...If wars was only fought between 2 individuals and not armies..Canute won't even resort to poisoning....In the Art Of War...Sun Tzu says" To win a hundred victories in a hundred battles is not of the highest skill...Winning battles without a fight is!

I feel like you're choosing to ignore a whole half of the philosophy behind the story (concepts like ruling as a utilitarian leader vs an empathetic one) in favour of the other side, and then pointing fingers at people telling them to stop reacting because they don't understand as if you aren't also misunderstanding. If you think the story is trying to tell you "actually it's fine to do morally reprehensible things as long as it has a greater positive outcome" then you are not understanding the message behind Vinland Saga.

@@backinmydaycartoons7957 if you encounter a snake that was about to kill you?...would you chop the tail of would you chop the head?....take all the time that you need to answer that question.

@backinmydaycartoons7957 put yourself in Canute shoes....would you spend another 10 yrs having wars in England decimating the whole country....would you take down the higher ups...And get the conquest done with in a short time saving Iives of your men and also the lives of the Anglo Saxon folks fighting under England and King Ethelred

@@backinmydaycartoons7957or there is another option...Which is give up the conquest of England entirely and go back to Denmark as a prince.

@@jonathanresurreccion2995 people aren't snakes, wars aren't a fought between a man and a beast, you want to simplify something that the story is explicitly prompting you to think deeper upon. If this is the perspective you hold then you are going to be very disappointed with the rest of vinland saga as a story, better stop while you're ahead if you can't understand the complexities of morality and idealism.

Better stop reacting while you're ahead if you can't understand basic psychology.

What's the point of this elitism and gatekeeping? I can't even tell what basic psychology she's supposedly not getting in the context of the series according to you, but even if there was some, why does it matter?
If you can't enjoy someone's reactions when they don't share your values or interpretations of a story, no one is forcing you to keep watching them. Berating them to stop making content they enjoy making just because you don't like it is ridiculous. You're better than this.

I'm just one opinion, man. I'm just going with it as I feel. I don't think it's the point to always immediately "get" the media you're consuming. I'm also on my own and I don't have other people reacting with me to bounce thoughts off on and steer me in different directions. 🤷🏻‍♀️
The anime fandom has been incredibly kind and supportive of me, I'm very grateful for that, but lately people have been weirdly condescending as well. Either way, I'm still very excited to continue this show and I WILL! But comments like these are definately making me feel even better about my choice to soon leave this channel for what it is indefinately.😅 (Not bc of these type of comments but big life things happening in my life and not having the time anymore!)
In conclusion, I definately think that if my videos aren't for you, you should just not visit my channel anymore.

I along with others thoroughly enjoy her reactions, and it will be ashame to watch her leave when she does.
