The song was written by V Kim Taehyung to be part for his debut album but members liked it and rap parts were added, TAE #V also co-produced and the original song is full in English, it was released on pandemic time, blue and grey came to give you that comfort hug without judging you, there is time for cry, to feel bad but also times to recovery, this is what means for a lot of us. ❤
The boys have said that j-hope is like water--he sort of adapts to fill the space he needs. So you'll notice in BTS songs he often has a part that's structurally or melodically unique. He's creative and he has a lot of tools in his bag. He can sing sing--like falsettos, strong belts, great vibrato, great pitch--and he can RAP RAP--fast, mellow, melodic, staccato, old school, trap--he's kind of a jack of all trades and he has a very distinct tone and accent. He's a fantastic performer and the Dance Leader of the team (he was a national champion in hip hop dance before BTS) and you can tell he writes his stuff in a way that makes people move--incredible flow and musicality. He has fun with it and you never know what you're going to get from him. It makes him a very exciting artist to stan. :)
So much insight from the musical choices that are difficult to notice when focusing on vocals. This is why I enjoy you analysis. The vocals and lyrics are full of melancholy. About the rappers in BTS, you absolutely nailed it with Jhope. Jhope's style is melodic rap.
Never thought in the terms of J Hope being between Suga and RM, but makes total sense since J Hope learned raping in the dorms with Suga and RM & created his own style, that is why I love the rapline each have their own style of rapping that goes so beautifully together especially with J hope's beautiful singing rap
I could spend hours listening to your voice explaining music with that beautiful accent and nice vocabulary :) Really enjoyed your analysis and Jimin sounds very good indeed; thank you, Sir!
I always considered JHope has a combined style of RM and Suga that is distinctly his own. It makes sense since he learned how to rap from both of them. I would love to hear your analysis of Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Also Agust D’s Snooze. I am not a huge rap fan, but Suga (Agust D) just hits me right.

Yes, I think J-hope is midway between Suga and RM, because he mostly has a bit of singing in his raps so he is not always so staccato as the other two. J-hope likes to sing and has a nice voice.

Thanks, i'll be waiting for your next BTS reaction 💜
I watched many BTS songs reaction. Interesting that most of singers, musicians, and vocal coaches like Jimin's voice the most. Jimin's voice also attract wide range of ages from baby to elders.
Part of JK's responsibilty as the main vocalist is to sing the background vocals to be included on a backing track. He might sing layer upon layer of chorus to create that subtle but rich sound.
8:40 Really appreciate this note. I don't speak Korean either and have never 'liked' any rap song I'd heard before. So I'm surprised that I've come to love BTS' rap, and especially how the 'physical' syllables and sounds of the Korean language are so surprisingly suited to it.
You should react to 'Truth Untold' or 'Fix You' by BTS, the first one only involves the vocal line while the second one is whole BTS. You should definitely listen to both of 'em, the first one is quite similar to this song qua vulnurability. In the second one they use a lot of harmonies, it's a very interesting sound to listen to.
The live version is soooo good! The harmonies sound so much better live it’s crazy how good they are live. Pls do a reaction if that on your own time or better, here hehe!!
The synthetic sounding sound (sorry for the alliteration) was created by NIve (also know as Park Ji-Soo) out of his own voice. He worked with V on the original version of the song (we only know snippets, but it apparently was full English), and has an interesting account of how he worked on it on his YT channel if you're interested
Oh my gosh, thank you for this. I'm feeling caught in a fever dream as we wait for the election results. I saw you reacted to this and immediately got emotional.
This was fantastic as a reaction. It is a beautiful and meaningful song to many people. Thanks for giving us a different set of insights from a musical perspective. I really loved it.
Also, I think it’s interesting you used to describe an element of their song as a mask. Coincidentally, they use a mask metaphor a lot, in their lyrics as well as their props, and I guess now, in their song composition, too. Thanks so much for the insightful and detailed analysis. I enjoyed it so much.
Love your reaction and analysis. BTS'S vocal line is so good. Jungkook and Jin's voices are so clear and very beautiful. Of course Jimin's voice is so clear, crisp, unique and gorgeous, like the cherry on the Bangtan cake. This song is one of my favorites.
@ncstar0 Yes. Indeed he wrote this beautiful song, which shows that he is immensely talented and adorable. Tae has a gorgeous fantastic baritone bass and a low register voice. He is one of the best baritones in the group. His baritone was spectacular, for Boy in Luv, Ma City and many of their songs, where his growls and low bass shined. However, I personally do not think much of his high notes and high register sound, although he does deserve credit for trying and training himself to sing proficiently, high notes. The other three members in the vocal line are way better sounding and more proficient in the high register notes. His diction and pronunciation is really poor and garbled for English, as in goodnight becoming goognigh. His voice is really gorgeous but his tone is not unique. In the group and in fact the KPop industry, only Jimin and RM, have the most unique voice tone, timbre and color. All I am saying, is my point of view and is never ever a criticism or put down of Tae. JK, Jin and Jimins' voices were better in this song. Watch the performance where there is a part when Tae was harmonizing with Jimin, and they switched, Tae did the high register and Jimin did the low and medium register, it will help you understand what I am saying. Tae's intro and outro was very beautiful for this song.
In this song, I would actually position Suga to be stylistically between J Hope and RM. I think J Hope's rap here trends more melodic, RMs more rhythmic, and Suga rides the melody and with little punches on the beat.
Thank you so much for the awesome reaction, very enlightening! Just to let you know, Suga is pronounced Shooga, like the sweet white stuff we put in our tea 🙏💜🌸
11:50 from what I can hear there are at least 3 lines of harmony with Jin singing the melody at the top and Jungkook singing at least two lines of lower harmonies. There's a good behind the scenes video of Jungkook recording vocal harmonies for his song Euphoria that's an interesting watch to see how incredible Jungkook is at creating backing harmonies (search "behind the scenes recording euphoria" on YT). Theres also a video where the producer of this song discusses this song and its creation (behind the production for bts blue and grey).
Particularmente me gusta la voz aterciopelada de V, voces de tonos bajos, al escucharlo se siente que te canta al oído, te acaricia el alma, te arrulla
Used to study music professionally, left it but always regretted. Love your analysis, probably more detailed than anyone I’ve ever heard so far. I adore BTS. Just to mention: SUGA stands for “shooting guard” means pronounced with “sh”, although, Korean spelling is “s” but native speakers told me that “s” followed by “u” still readable as “sh” in Korean and considering it’s an English language abbreviation, it should be “sh” and that’s how most people pronounce it. I’ll add a link to prove: th-cam.com/video/rgVenoP8Ag4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=51eCk1hDeh2tz22_ Other than that, what a pleasure to listen to your analysis. Thank you!
Thank you, I really like your analyses and insights. I would very much love to see you do a video on V's Tiny desk performance. Doesn't have to be all in one go, it is three songs after all, but he had a live band and background vocalists with him, it's such a great performance!
Many of BTS’ songs, I’d say all, of the group songs have multiple rap sections since there are 3 rappers. They do really good at blending the vocals and rap so as to not sound jarring. Personally one of my favorite things. I would agree that Jhope is a mix of rm and suga, possibly since he learned from them as the two of them were previously underground rappers before BTS. Just found your channel, loved it💜
RM and Suga taught JHope how to rap, so it makes sense that his sound would combine both of their styles making his different from theirs. The song was actually written by V and his musical style is different from the others.
Perfect review from you !! 7:50 well you should take a look to August D (suga) trilogie. Especially his song “AMYGDALA” 9:16 yes and I recommend jimin new hit “WHO”
Can I say that, quite often, the translations on these lyric videos are not always accurate. For instance, the penultimate lines from Jin should read ‘In the distant future, when I get to smile, I’ll tell you that there was such a time’. V’s last line should read ‘After secretly collecting words that wander in the void, now I fall asleep, at dawn, goodnight’ - nothing at all about a horse!!! (Lyric translations courtesy of doolsetbangtan)
PLEASE react to their live version of "Blue and Grey" on MTV Unplugged. You can even turn on the subtitles... official subs are much more accurate than these quick (usually google-translated) fan-made color-coded videos.
JIMIN JIMIN JIMINNNNNNNN 👑❤️🔥🧿🎸 The one and only versatile veteran unique multifaceted organically successful Global artist 🎉😊 So happy hearing him sing hearing good appreciative acknowledging Reaction to Jimin’s Talent from musicians 🤩
V's beautiful deep and strong vocals make this a beautiful song. The words and the emotions V brings to this gives itsdepth. Too much rapping has made it chaotic. He should have kept it for his album
I loved the way you understood bts musicality!! Yes their music echoes the lyrics and theme. Do give the rapline a chance - they are very dynamic. Suga aka Agust D is also a producer so I'd love to know your thoughts on his music. I'd recommend bts songs Take two (live), Spring Day, So far away (Agust D), Stay Alive JUNGKOOK, prod. Suga. 💜
A little funfact for you- the song starts with where's my angel, and taehyung believes in angels alot you can see him praying to Angels run BTS and many other shows and behind the scenes. so it's already sad that his angel is gone. 😭💜
Please, react to Seoul by RM of BTS, everyone who listens to it thinks it's an incredible song... and I need someone to explain to me how and why hahaha
Actually I once readed that this sinthetyc sound at the end of the song is a whale. BTS has a song called Whalien 52, wich is known as 'the lonlyest whale' so could make sense.
I enjoyed this but so much more because of your explanation. The Korean language is so "melodic". It just flows. Not a fan of rapping either but this don't just sound like ( ok I am going to be a bit vulgar) vomiting of words. This is good. Greetings from South Africa
I think the mystical, synthetic sound that you said you didn’t know how it was made sounds like Adora, I’m guessing. She has parts in many BTS songs and known to use whistle notes (like in Whalien 52). Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. 🙏🏽

Love this...
Live makes me feel gusepombs
if youre interested in kpop just in general, i recommend seventeen! specially their live performance at the killing voice🫶🏻
V's beautiful deep and strong vocals make this a beautiful song. The words and the emotions V brings to this gives itsdepth. Too much rapping has made it chaotic. He should have kept it for his album
This sonng Always make cry
Siempree
The song that helped us during the lonely scary Pandemic. Its beautiful poignant and emotional. Thank you for your reaction. Stay lovely. 💜
Please, react to Seoul by RM of BTS, everyone who listens to it thinks it's an incredible song... and I need someone to explain to me how and why hahaha
As you venture into K-pop, seventeen is another great option. Their songs Maestro and God of Music have so many fun references to music and theory.
Me encantan y la parte de Rap excelente ❤❤❤
Next: Louder than Bomb please...
Actually I once readed that this sinthetyc sound at the end of the song is a whale. BTS has a song called Whalien 52, wich is known as 'the lonlyest whale' so could make sense.
Perfect title for today 😢
Jungkook voice is always amazing, and doing adlib and harmonizing my favorite vocalist always slay
I enjoyed this but so much more because of your explanation. The Korean language is so "melodic". It just flows. Not a fan of rapping either but this don't just sound like ( ok I am going to be a bit vulgar) vomiting of words. This is good. Greetings from South Africa
💜💜💜💜
OMG I miss them so much
Jimins uniqe vois ist jeder KPOP ,aber V VOIS its willi UNIQE bikos einzig für MILLION .its UNIVERSUM
12:00 eu não entendo nada de produção musical mas a terceira voz talvez seja o jhope, pelo que consigo ouvir
No this isn’t a particularly uplifting song but it makes me feel seen and there’s a certain amount of comfort in that
There is a live perfomance for this song please watch
I think the mystical, synthetic sound that you said you didn’t know how it was made sounds like Adora, I’m guessing. She has parts in many BTS songs and known to use whistle notes (like in Whalien 52). Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. 🙏🏽
K-pop is not my cup of tea, but that said, the kids are talented.
❤R/A🎼😊
Bro you know that K-pop stand for KOREA POPULAR MUSIC, How can you say that you don't like a entire Country Music ? I'm from brazil so i like music from everyhere But my focus is in Korean and japan and they have a lot of good music there
@@davimoraes3731 Well, BRO, I am not throwing any shade on K-pop. As I said above, they are talented. Like you and everyone else, I prefer other kinds of music that resonate with me more. Everyone has their music that they like. It doesn't mean I do not appreciate other Korean singers. I don't feel one way or the other when people have preferences. It's their own choice, and they are free to make it.
@@betsyvondracek6039 You don't resonate with the music because you want to understand what they are saying? this is a valid point not everyone can brake that language barrier when it comes to music. Because K-pop is POP,Rock,Rap,Ballad,Funk, etc. The Amount of times i cried hearing Japonese music is wild
Sometimes i hear reactor Saying that DIMASH don't have emotion on his music and voice and only sing for show off i'm like ? How can someone think that way
@betsyvondracek6039 Thank you for appreciating BTS and their talent. Maybe someday you too will fall in our rabitthole. Because as we say, ''You don't find BTS, BTS finds you when you need them. But if you never join this fandom that's good too. I'm just really, really thankful that you are respectful.
Borahae💜
Live pls💜

Голос Чимина так красив🥰. Мёд для ушей🫶🫶🫶
busca la canción de DIMASH rapeando,te volará la cabeza. ❤ Screaming 👍
I've done a reaction to Screaming, but I understand there are different versions
Suga part😢
Majority of background vocals on tracks and live are done by Jungkook.
