@@WhimsicottFanatic I read somewhere that muddle buds in fact so work on lynels, but the problem is that they don’t have any other enemies in the vicinity to fight against. I know there’s a way to trick the depths coliseum into releasing more than one at once and I have wanted to try that for a while.
Axe arrows also cut down regular trees without wasting the arrow nor the fused material (most of the time...if you aim for just above the base). Additionally, Evermean logs have a higher fused value than regular logs (8 v 1), Evermeans can sometimes drop a Monster Extract (which is rare to obtain in the early game), and you can fell one with a minimum of 2 Fire Fruits (if it's not raining or in a watery area). Toss one Fire Fruit, wait for it to stop burning, then toss the 2nd Fire Fruit and watch it dance before it perishes. (I'm not an arsonist, I swear!)

Another small fun fact: If you're driving a high-speed vehicle (such as chesepuf's Hank the Tank or LongjumpingFrame1771's FESCA), as long as you're not looking at them (by turning the camera in the opposite direction), you can sometimes phase through evermeans. I managed to do this with the evermean that is south-east of the East Akkala Stable. In addition (after phasing through the evermean) using recall will cause your vehicle to get stuck on the evermean and it will be able to destroy the entire build in one shot, if you allow recall to fully play out.
I have been enjoying the evermeans in the apple orchard on Satori Mountain. Running around and getting them to whack other trees is a simple way to harvest apples
I mean, I guess it saves you the resources it would take to chop down all the trees, so that works, I guess. Also, a lot of my clips in this video are in that very orchard. ;)
I could be wrong, its been a while since I played, but hitting the base of a apple tree with a blunt weapon will make the apples fall off with no damage to the weapon durability.
Hm. Axe arrows might work, or any kind of effective ranged attack. As long as you're far enough from the Evermean, you might not scare off the fireflies. I don't know, though. I'll have to try to figure that out.

Just use Mineru to grab the fireflies with her extended item grab range. You can also put an axe on one arm if you don’t want to just ignore the Evermeans
first time i came across those, i was on my way to the New Serene Stables on a brand-new all-black horse i caught out in the fields (after talking with Purah and gotten my assignment, YES, i like horses that much and know how to deal with them), and you could imagine the hilarity that ensued tryna tame a wild horse AND run from a bunch of Ents who've declared war on the human world for some reason XD

I mean sure but while running, gliding or riding around you don't exactly stop on your tracks to spot Evermeans whenever you see trees. Which is like, all the time. The Hinox nail arrow is interesting though!
I like the thought of taking them out with axe arrows from a distance. I've been using fire arrows and it takes such a long time. Also, I usually detect them by bringing out the camera.
Yeah, bomb arrows also take them out immediately, but you have to waste bombs. And yeah, the camera also works, especially if you don’t want to slow down to check for them. Also, sometimes the Evermeans are not the same type of tree as the trees around them, so they’ll stand out more.
You can also identify evermeans from a distance with your purahpad camera, like how we used to use the slate camera to identify alive guardians in BOTW.

Fun fact! Evermeans are actually Yiga clan members in disguise! I talk to a lot of yiga npcs while disguised as a yiga and I remember running into one who talked about how they had been using trees as disguises to hunt link!
@@Totalcryptid they’re not the same, though. There are banana traps where there are Yiga disguised as trees. They don’t attack you as trees. The trees disappear and the Yiga appear. Evermeans are tree monsters, and they drop monster extract on rare occasions.
these are the scariest enemy in TOTK because everytime one attacks me I get genuinely jumpscared :D i always forget they exist so i never look for them

@@LionsShareYT oh, I still got jumpscared. As it turns out, knowing that's not a real tree isn't the same thing as knowing it's going to just uproot itself with a loud noise when you think you're just far enough to be out of its range but close enough to smack it with your pointed stick.
My go-to method for dealing with Evermeans is putting a fire keese wing or Fire-breath Lizalvos horn on a giant boomerang. Also, using the camera will let you know if there are Evermeans near by
I found out by accident that the camera will detect them for you. In the depths it's hard to see rhem move, so I'll get the camera out and look groups of trees over to see if it identifies any.

Honestly, I feel this so much. It wasn’t my first game over, but I’ve definitely had times where I was playing with the sound off and didn’t hear an Evermean come up behind me to give me a good whack.

Evermeans are heavily implied to be Yiga in disguise. In one of the Yiga camps in the Depths is a diary that mentions disguising themselves as trees in order to mess with Link. This could also explain why Majora's Mask does not work on Evermeans, as they would not technically be monsters
When I figured out that the Everlast were yiga, I was incredibly disappointed that the name didn't change to Triga. Because that is an excellent pun. And I love it.
The Evermeans are not Yiga. They’re tree monsters. Some Yiga do disguise themselves as trees, but that’s not the same thing. Evermeans are basically tree taluses.

Not to nitpick, but the sound mixing in this video is tough because the music is too loud and your voice is too quiet. It’s oftentimes really hard to hear the voiceover.
It's okay to nitpick. It helps me get better. Sound is one of the things I'm trying to work on. Hitting a battle talus with a muddle bud may be one of the funniest.
It's part of my standard strategy for dealing with any large group of enemies, so I find it shocking that it's not more well known.

If the wiggling is too subtle for you, you can also spot evermeans just by checking the viewfinder in your camera

Evermeans are yiga clan members so they don’t work with majors mask because they aren’t monsters they’re humans.
Evermeans are monsters. They have a separate entry from Yiga Clan members in the compendium, and they drop monster extract. But not a bad thought. :)

Evermeans are heavily implied to be Yiga in disguise. In one of the Yiga camps in the Depths is a diary that mentions disguising themselves as trees in order to mess with Link. This could also explain why Majora's Mask does not work on Evermeans, as they would not technically be monsters
No, that’s different. There are actual trees that will turn into Yiga if you do something to trigger them. Evermeans are just monsters.

When I figured out that the Everlast were yiga, I was incredibly disappointed that the name didn't change to Triga. Because that is an excellent pun. And I love it.
The Evermeans are not Yiga. They’re tree monsters. Some Yiga do disguise themselves as trees, but that’s not the same thing. Evermeans are basically tree taluses.

@@Ethelberd Thanks for letting me know. Audio is an area I’m still working on. I will say, I think the mix is better in headphones than, say, phone speakers. But with your hearing impairment, I don’t know how much it would help.
Not to nitpick, but the sound mixing in this video is tough because the music is too loud and your voice is too quiet. It’s oftentimes really hard to hear the voiceover.
It's okay to nitpick. It helps me get better. Sound is one of the things I'm trying to work on. In the past, I've had somebody help me with the audio, but I did it myself this time, and yeah, it's not perfect. Like I said, I'm working on it. Thanks for the feedback.
