Just a flaff pulling phone out and then waiting for it to refresh. Courses can also be out of date if layout changes.

Just to clear up the slope function, there are two versions of this range finder. The one in this video is not tournament legal, it is always in slope mode and you can't turn it off. There is also a red and white version, that one has a switch to turn it on and off inside the battery door and that one is tournament legal.

Splashed out on the top of the range Garmin that has the gps built in as well and have to say it's brilliant. To be able to see where on the green the pin is located from 150-200y out instead of just getting a distance number gives you the info on how to best play the shot to avoid sucker pins etc. Of course it still needs you to actually hit it, but for me it paints a clearer picture in my head. Also helps you when you cannot actually see the pin by giving you direction marker, excellent feature for us wayward hitters...

From 120 yards I can not tell if a pin is front, center or back of green but with magnification in Tour v4 I can read distance no bother. I got a 60 quid laser off Amazon in the Black Friday sale last year. Never had one before always used a GPS watch. Love the laser, check distance to hazards, marker posts anything. Much more useful than the GPS. BUT I still wear the GPS as its a great ‘guide’ device, if your on the fairway and can see all of the green the GPS is good enough for me as a 14 Hcp. If I’m inside 150 then I’ll laser as I know my SW to 8 distances are +/- 5 and where the flag is exactly will make a big difference between clubs. Go cheap, 4 for the price of 1 !

Friend has a Bushel Tour 4v and Ive a wogo amazon one that cost a fraction of my mates one. The differences pretty much are its easier to find the target on the Bushnel (locks on much quicker than mine), a bit easier to use in dull light (yellow rhetorical vs black) but other than that they are essentially the same performance wise. Distances are pretty much the same (my game doesn't notice the one or two yard difference between the units) BUT on the plus side...I saved several hundred quid that I then didn't use on golf lessons! :)

I have GPS and a cheap one, like the blue one. Can turn slope off on mine though. One advantage of range finder is if you are unsure of pin position on a green, you dont have to guess.

I got a Boblov range finder for about the same price as the cheap one in the video. Rechargeable via USB, battery life is huge. Boblov seems pretty accurate to me. It does not have all the bells & whistles of a Bushnell, in fact it is basic. I could do with some sort anti-shake system for me, but I have been impressed with the Boblov.
I also have a Bushnell Excel GPS watch - it is great when it works, but fundamentally it is a really bad product (it cannot even tell the time accurately)

I did a different version of this using a Garmin watch (Fenix 6 Sapphire) and Arccos on my phone (bought a set of Cobra clubs so got a free trial) and the difference was between 5 and 10 yards every time with the Arccos being slightly under meaning you may always end up short. Think this is due to the poor GPS receivers in phones. Garmin was always within 1 yards of my friends Bushnell. Amazing for GPS as we all know a good rangefinder will always be more accurate.

Good vid. Thanks. As you say is the slight variation and the vibration when the Bushnell locks on worth £200? Don't thinking so. I am pleased that you continue to try and find different companies out there which try and make golf more affordable to the general Joe blogs. thanks

There are quite a few of the cheaper ones that have the jolt feature, and a lot of those don't have slope.

When playing with my friends that have rangefinders I will always guess the yardages before they take their readings. I am within 5-10 yards of their readings. Like you said, most golfers do not have the accuracy to hit closer than 5-10 yards. I can't make myself spend the money to buy a rangefinder. Would rather buy better golf balls. Most of the guys I play with play with lower end balls and complain about not holding greens, etc. Thanks for you vids, really enjoy

I had a £350 Bushnell it worked great, when it got nicked I got an Easy green 1300 of Experian £140 it is just as quick and accurate as the Bushnell and it has pinlock at a third of the price

I have a callaway range finder that was about 150 a few years back my mate has a top of the range bushnell stood side by side the numbers are very similar within a yard or 2 certainly near enough for an amateur and of course there's no guarantee that it's the callaway one that's out perhaps it's the bushnell

Golf sidekick uses Decathlon’s Inesis V900 £129. It’s got a vibration lock on and the slope can be turned off. Has anyone else tried it?

Great video. I'm new to golf so something like this would be perfect for me to check my yardage. I currently play off about 18 and a half million so I wouldn't want to spend much more that £80 on something to tell me how far away the water hazard is! Thanks mate 😊👊🏻

Cool video guvna, do they lock onto things other than the pin, like say you hit 50 8 irons go and pick up and scan back to your bag where you hit from to measure?

I bought the cheapest Nikon one I think it’s called the i10. It’s within a yard of my friend bushnell. Only negative is it doesn’t have the vibration and also it’s a little bit light in the hand.

You make good points, but I still prefer the golf watch, a quick gance gets me as close as I need. I walk uo to my ball and hit it with confidence, no need to stand there sighting a yardage and then making my shot, speed matters to many people.

Arccos!!! it is the bomb. everyone, leave the ego at the door and use Arccos. it will smash your handicap down, regardless of how good you are.

I owned a Bushnell Z6 jolt and loved it. Worked for 4 years then stopped working, just loads of error codes. I called Bushnell agent in UK (called UMAX) and was told to toss it in the bin as it was a non repairable item. However they were prepared to kindly give me a 25% discount on a new one...no thanks. Not happy. Bought an easygreen that American golf sell for £170. Managed to get via Groupon for £126 with free delivery. Works great, very fast, so far so good. If it packs in after a few years i'm not so bothered.
