I drove one of these a week ago for the BMW drivers experience and it's a hell of a car. It has tons of torque, even with 4 people in 90 degree weather. It does have a little bit of lag but once it's on boost it pulls like a twin turbo N54 engine in a 135i. I can't wait to drive the 6 cylinder.
Got this early this week. Absolutely amazing driving dynamics. Best car I’ve ever had! Perfect balance of performance and luxury. I’m so glad with my decision.
I love to hate the 3 series but I'll probably replace my aging G35 with one. The current Q50 has a garbage interior, Genesis G70 leases like a Maserati, the C-Class is for retirement homes, and the IS hasn't been redesigned since the reign of Hirohito.
pontiacGXPfan well my E46 330Xi has been in my family since 2002, and it’s really not been bad at all. We did proper maintenance, and the car still to this day is running strong w/ 179,000 miles
I enjoy my 2019 330 XDrive so far..... it dose feel like I am driving a slightly smaller 5 Series. I have had 3 different 3-series in the last 10 years, and this one is more luxury and less Sports Sedan to me. A good car overall and XDrive is a must in my opinion. Beretta Sr.

Just drove the same model few days ago. I agree that steering feels good and chassis feels firm. I found that powertrain perform much more linear than F30, and it’s not as responsive as F30. But transmission still did a good job in terms of shifting. It’s quick and smooth.
That is correct, but after just test driving a 2019 330xi this past weekend, I can confirm if you get the spare tire kit, the trunk room is GREATLY reduced. The floor comes up an additional 4-5" because of the "space saving spare". Keep that in mind or go to a showroom to check it for yourself. That 17 square feet he mentions I think drops to around 13 or so with the spare tire addon.
Are you seriously going to nitpick that? Go buy Audi's car with pure fake exhausts. Talk about cost cutting. It's nearly impossible to make sure it's perfect without it going into a BMW 5 series territory.
I'm glad BMW recognized the need to make this a drivers car again. But this 4 banger is still 2K more than the fully loaded 3.3TT AWD G70. It's no contest. So the question becomes; do you want the better car, or just the badge?
I'm with you. April 06, I purchased 3.3 T 2019 Genesis G70. I tested quite a few compact luxury sport sedans before I make my decision. I couldn't justify spending the extra money for a BMW, Mercedes. I didn't bother to test out the Audi, because I wanted rear wheel drive not all wheel drive as in the Quattro. I'm not a brand snob. I love my G70.

Yep. Among others the G70 is definitely far superior for the money. I think bmw is hanging on to those who buy their badge, but in objective comparisons they aren’t doing anything better in the segment anymore.
Calisto Riviera a fully loaded 3 series will be better on paper than the g70 but way more money, probably not as reliable, and not as good of a warranty. G 70 is the best deal for 50 k
The problem is there's no individuality with each model. These types of manufacturers treat their line as a styling exercise Each model takes turns getting the latest trend.

I drive an Acura and can admit, i sort of drive like an asshole. But here in NJ with slow idiot drivers in the left lane holding up traffic, you kind of have to. When it rains forget about it, people go bat shit crazy when the wet stuff falls from the sky. Everyone forgets how to drive. Most people in this state also do not know how to properly use a traffic circle. I don't think I'm a GREAT driver but after 15 years of being on the road I'd like to think I'm pretty decent and have some patience sharing the road with others that also do the same.

Kia Stinger GT way to go. Reasons: 1) More powerful than 330i Xdrive 2) 10,000-12,000$ price difference because of badge 3) Faster than 330i Xdrive, 4) Longer warranty 5) More usable in daily life 6) Almost same or more bells and whistles than 3 series. 6) Cheaper to insure. 7) Cheaper to maintain and fewer service costs. FUEL ECONOMY is the only advantage on 330's side.
Those gauges and center stack are an exact opposite of what BMW has always done. Bland at the best. Could’ve done digital gauges with an analog style layout.
perfectly sorted car. though not as luxurious as the C300 in the interior but decent power in base format at a relatively reasonable price is always a good thing in this segment.
I've got a Mazda3 tester right now, and I really don't understand why anyone would drop BMW cash when you can get 85% of the experience for less than 60% of the money. Driving experience? I defy a normal person to tell the difference...or just get a Stinger. Tech? The Mazda is loaded with nearly every feature you could want (just not as many screens). Glass controls? If you need that in your life, your children probably hate you. And so does everyone else.
had it for 2 days when my 328xi in dealer for service. It is definitely less sporty than last generation. better interior for sure. chassis felt good and it is much bigger compared to last generation. It just felt not as nimble as last generation (especially at the corner) and it also felt very soft somehow....
I’ve kept my 2007 E92 335i with manual transmission because i know they won’t make manual transmission anymore or it will be so rare that buying used will be a needle in a haystack. My 2007 only has 50,000 miles. I sold my X3 F25 due to so many out of pocket expenses and electrical issues. I am not sure when i would buy a BMW again.
Genesis G70 over this boat BMW. BMW has resorted to tech gimmicks to placate for luxury. That price is just crazy for the base 3 series. Interior is nothing special at all. Not sure how you say $57k is reasonable. That's M2 money
Finally bmw is back I believe..It has no terrible design elements reminding the old 2000 s ..It is a brand new design also has some Scandinavian design charachter which is so nice.. Bmw was dead for me but I can buy one
I was surprised to see there isn't any sound deadening material on the under side of the hood. I don't know how much difference that makes any way but just used to see it.
You totally missed the point of a luxury sport sedan. I’ve seen the type of you everyday: can’t really afford the car so you watch review videos to satisfy that craving for a moment; then criticize everything as an excuse why you would not want to own one - but the fact remains that you still can’t afford, or even if you could, you totally miss the purpose of this drivers’ car by comparing it to a Corolla. Nothing wrong with the Corolla, it’s just made for a different purpose. So stick with your Corolla and keep drooling over every time you see a 3 series passing you on the streets!

besides the headlights, this new BMW is very underwhelming. the 3 series has lost its pzaaazz. it was the benchmark in entry level luxury/sport but this has lost to even the Audi A4
Great review, thanks! I was between this and the 2019 Volvo S60 R-design, the Volvo is in my garage now after 2 months of comparison testing! Love my Volvo, it was better equipped for about 10 grand less.
I just bought the 2019 330i XDrive about two months ago and I'm still watching videos to figure out what the hell I'm driving. LOL! I finally figured out how to open the trunk without swinging my leg back and forth for 2mins getting a damn workout! LOL! It's a single "punt" motion. Never knew. LOL! Thanks to TH-cam channels like yours, I don't have to waste a lot of gas figuring stuff out. I can just watch you drive yours and go, "...well, that's kinda nice that I can do that..." LOL! Soon, we'll all be buying cars in the Metaverse watching avatars drive them. LMAO! (I hope not)
First the reliability issues, then they introduce FWD and now they take away the iconic round headlights? Man BMW is the Apple of cars. They can’t get things right... I am surprised people still buy these, though I am sure lots of these are leased.
The top part of the grill looks almost completely solid. And I think I'd prefer it either body colored or satin finish. Even matte would be better than the shiny plastic.
Me too!! I’ve owned a second gen 350 and loved it for 7 years. I have a GS 350 now and love it but I want to go back to something smaller and I don’t think I can leave the Lexus brand at this point, they are just so damn reliable with good comfort and performance(people be sleeping on the GS-pick up a used one) I think Lexus will hit it out of the park with the new IS
I find it interesting how some people say "more sharp" and others say "sharper". I speak several languages so I find the former alot easier to remember than the comparative adjective. I'm guessing OP does as well.
Given the competitors in this segment from Lexus, Merc, Audi or even Genesis I just don’t see how the new 3 series tops any of those in any category. Hell even a loaded up A class looks much nicer than this.

@5:13 this car was equipped with the run flat tires. If you order the 3 series with non flats, the trunk floor will open up, with a spare underneath.

Kia Stinger GT way to go. Reasons: 1) More powerful than 330i Xdrive 2) 10,000-12,000$ price difference because of badge 3) Faster than 330i Xdrive, 4) Longer warranty 5) More usable in daily life 6) Almost same or more bells and whistles than 3 series. 6) Cheaper to insure. 7) Cheaper to maintain and fewer service costs. FUEL ECONOMY is the only advantage on 330's side.

Those gauges and center stack are an exact opposite of what BMW has always done. Bland at the best. Could’ve done digital gauges with an analog style layout.

I've got a Mazda3 tester right now, and I really don't understand why anyone would drop BMW cash when you can get 85% of the experience for less than 60% of the money. Driving experience? I defy a normal person to tell the difference...or just get a Stinger. Tech? The Mazda is loaded with nearly every feature you could want (just not as many screens). Glass controls? If you need that in your life, your children probably hate you. And so does everyone else.
had it for 2 days when my 328xi in dealer for service. It is definitely less sporty than last generation. better interior for sure. chassis felt good and it is much bigger compared to last generation. It just felt not as nimble as last generation (especially at the corner) and it also felt very soft somehow....

I’ve kept my 2007 E92 335i with manual transmission because i know they won’t make manual transmission anymore or it will be so rare that buying used will be a needle in a haystack.
My 2007 only has 50,000 miles.
I sold my X3 F25 due to so many out of pocket expenses and electrical issues.
I am not sure when i would buy a BMW again.

Genesis G70 over this boat BMW. BMW has resorted to tech gimmicks to placate for luxury. That price is just crazy for the base 3 series. Interior is nothing special at all. Not sure how you say $57k is reasonable. That's M2 money

Finally bmw is back I believe..It has no terrible design elements reminding the old 2000 s ..It is a brand new design also has some Scandinavian design charachter which is so nice.. Bmw was dead for me but I can buy one

The run flat tires make every BMW feel harsh over road seams. Changing the tires completely changes the ride quality!
I was surprised to see there isn't any sound deadening material on the under side of the hood. I don't know how much difference that makes any way but just used to see it.
Would be nice to compare it with the Giulia. But I believe from what I heard the Giulia is even more tight than the new 3 series.
Giulia is still a much better drivers car.

You totally missed the point of a luxury sport sedan. I’ve seen the type of you everyday: can’t really afford the car so you watch review videos to satisfy that craving for a moment; then criticize everything as an excuse why you would not want to own one - but the fact remains that you still can’t afford, or even if you could, you totally miss the purpose of this drivers’ car by comparing it to a Corolla. Nothing wrong with the Corolla, it’s just made for a different purpose. So stick with your Corolla and keep drooling over every time you see a 3 series passing you on the streets!

besides the headlights, this new BMW is very underwhelming. the 3 series has lost its pzaaazz. it was the benchmark in entry level luxury/sport but this has lost to even the Audi A4

I just bought the 2019 330i XDrive about two months ago and I'm still watching videos to figure out what the hell I'm driving. LOL! I finally figured out how to open the trunk without swinging my leg back and forth for 2mins getting a damn workout! LOL! It's a single "punt" motion. Never knew. LOL!
Thanks to TH-cam channels like yours, I don't have to waste a lot of gas figuring stuff out. I can just watch you drive yours and go, "...well, that's kinda nice that I can do that..." LOL!

The top part of the grill looks almost completely solid. And I think I'd prefer it either body colored or satin finish. Even matte would be better than the shiny plastic.

Me too!! I’ve owned a second gen 350 and loved it for 7 years. I have a GS 350 now and love it but I want to go back to something smaller and I don’t think I can leave the Lexus brand at this point, they are just so damn reliable with good comfort and performance(people be sleeping on the GS-pick up a used one) I think Lexus will hit it out of the park with the new IS
I find it interesting how some people say "more sharp" and others say "sharper". I speak several languages so I find the former alot easier to remember than the comparative adjective. I'm guessing OP does as well.

Given the competitors in this segment from Lexus, Merc, Audi or even Genesis I just don’t see how the new 3 series tops any of those in any category. Hell even a loaded up A class looks much nicer than this.
