That doll you asked about is actually a hospital doll or mannequin made by Martha Chase starting in 1910 at the request of a local nursing school in Rhodesia Island. They were made in 4 sizes newborn through four year old to teach nursing students, new moms and caregivers how to handle, bath, feed etc children. That’s an awesome find as well as so many of your other treasures. I must say you scored. I also see another one that is either a CPR dummy or other medical mannequin.

I saw my childhood Plassie doll in the haul. She is the baby doll with the magic skin body and hard plastic head.😱 So many great finds♥️

Oh my gosh Tina! I'm afraid I see myself headed down this path 😂😂😂 Now I want a metal doll! How do you know if you are getting a fair deal and able to profit? You must have lots of experience reselling them. I think the cats think the dolls are more people who can give them food 😹 That's what my cats would think. 😍❤️

Score!!! I love them!! The giant doll with the teeth is fabulous! I like the babies with the bonnets and blinky eyes, too. The metal dolls are cool. The one you are keeping is amazing!! The Effanbee boy is wonderful! The one with 1951 on his chest is great!! The one toward the end with the great dress is another favorite, as well. Your cat is sweet. The really old ones at the very end are also wonderful.

A decent haul. The boy with the blue and white check outfit actually has "flirty" sleep eyes that move from side to side as well as open and closed. The small bisque with open mouth is a frozen charlotte. Some of these are repos or craft dolls, some have been repainted. The big boy with white face looks like "Gladdy" . Lots of compo dolls from the 20's and 30's. The bisque with leather looks like Armand Marseille. TFS!😄😄

The first tall lady with black hair in the box looks like Cher!!! I know she isn't but I wonder if anyone else thought that, hehe! Love your dolls!

The "picture" is a mourning piece. The hair would have been clipped from the baby and the fabric items would have been the babys clothes and recieving blanket. Its beautiful but sad. I made a shadow box with my baby's blanket id bracelet booties and photo and a couple of ribbons from a wreath when she passed.

Your Chase doll is lovely. Chase dolls were usually made of a sturdy cloth stockingette type made by Martha Chase.

I know this is late, but the side glancing doll you called a kewpie was actually a Scootles doll. Also, if you still have the antique German with the leather jointed body, I’d be interested in the markings on her.

The metal headed dolls are called Minerva. Have only seen the heads so I don't know what her body should be like.

This video is just in time, I recently made a first purchase online on a lot of vintage dolls and I have no clue what they’re worth or how to identify them.
As you find out, I don't either! 😂🤣 You just have to do research unfortunately. Use Google Lens app too, that helped me out a bunch. 🥰

Research....but even then sometimes I can't figure it out. I don't know how many I have, they come and go so much. Maybe 30???

I believe the Simon and Halligan doll is a repro. I suspect this cause her eyebrows are not as they would be painted. Just research her. See if she has any date or initials on the back of her head. I did dolls for about 10 years. Learned a lot about the antiques...not much on vintage! You got a wonderful haul!

Be sure to pull the wig up, many times the writing is up under the wig even if it is glued on or down lower if they have a chest plate

Holy crap, you doll people have bigger balls than any man I know! I would make sure they are all screwed into heavy doll stands so they don’t get up and hack me to pieces in my sleep. Does anything creepy ever happen with them? At least one has to be haunted right? I’m both fascinated and terrified!
I guess I somewhat understand though, because I have a bedroom full of Canadian Big Smile Mannequins. Everyone I know says they are terrifying, but I’m like “Whaaaaat?” I love them! 💕
Yes, those mannequins are a bit creepy! 😂 That's the best part though. Yes I have had one. My husband made me keep it in the car till I could find a buyer. 🤣

I get mine from fleamarkets and antique shops. I keep them in curio cabinets, and plastic storage tubs for the ones not on display.

I don't believe the doll that you call Simon Halbig is a genuine antique doll the painting on her face is horrible, not the quality that a Halbig has.
I think it's a reproduction Simon Halbig after looking into it more since I recorded this.
