I review the Wurkkos HD01. This is a do-it-all flashlight with a few features I've never seen before on a light. Find out more in my video.

    Wurkkos HD01 Video Transcript:
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
    • So the HD01 is something completely different to what Wurkkos have produced in the past. It's a far stretch from their traditional tube-style lights. The HD01 follows the lead of other rectangular-style flashlights like the Olight Arkfield Pro or Nitecore EDC27… however, it's more budget-friendly. It's packed full of features, some of which I've never seen in a flashlight before.
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
    • Construction is high quality and feels durable. The rectangular design fits nicely in any pocket and is machined well, without any rough spots or inconsistencies. Wurkkos has used a grippy, matt black anodizing that is similar to what they used on the TD01 - I really like this finish, feels more durable and of higher quality. Double-sided clip - rigid. Two metal buttons, also act as battery indicator.
    • Wurkkos refers to spot LED as 'HM' which may refer to the LatticePower HM-3535 LED. Flood light: 16x CSP1313 LEDs, 15x RGB LEDs. 1 green laser module. The laser and spot beam are found under the head. Spot beam uses a TIR lens. The flood and RGB LEDs are found on the side + white diffuser.
    • Non-replaceable 1200mAh lithium polymer cell.
    UI - modes
    • Top button:
    ○ One click for laser.
    ○ Hold for RGB ramping. Hold again to change colors. Double press for flashing.
    ○ Two clicks - floodlight on. Hold for LMH
    ○ Three clicks - RGB effects mode on - double press for red/blue flash, RGB waterfall, droplets
    ○ Four clicks (lock/unlock)
    ○ Five clicks - breathing switch on/off
    • Bottom button:
    ○ Hold for moonlight
    ○ One click - memory mode - hold for LMH
    ○ Two clicks - turbo mode
    ○ Three clicks - strobe mode
    ○ Four clicks - lock/unlock
Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
    • Ceiling bounce test, CRI, CCT
    • Surprisingly intense spot beam. The flood beam is very useful for short-range applications. It's also high CRI!
    Considerations
    • Non-replaceable battery. I also don't see any screws on the case that would allow me to open it up. Unless the tail clip is connected to the end of the case.
    • Laser easily activated by mistake. I would put the laser under a triple click.
    • Some may say RGB modes (raindrop, waterfall) are not necessary but I like them as they can be used for background video effects when streaming. The general RGB light is super useful.
    Verdict
Wurkkos has done a great job with their first version of a rectangular-style light - despite the inbuilt battery, it's one of the most versatile flashlights that I own - it's a great value option if you're looking for an all-in-one flashlight that you can fit in your bag or pocket easily and access both throw and flood beams in a small package. The RGB light is one of those things I didn't really appreciate until I had one!
