Yup you really need to watch that movie. While You are Sleeping is another great Rom Com when they actually made really good ones on a regular basis. I wish Hollywood would realise that many of us some really good new ones. I mean I like other film genres too but some Romantic Comedies like these would be great.
Plus can I just be honest and say I want ones with the guaranteed happy ending. I'm sorry, but while I know not all real life stories have happy endings, there are some that too, and sometimes, especially after this year I'm looking for stories with a guaranteed happy ending.

I'm not sure that's a good idea. She has the kind of mind that goes where it should not with that movie. People tend to get their panties in a twist if they think about it too much, i.e. do any analysis on it, however casual. The whole thing works in a gradual build-up in the context, but chopping it in a commentary you get the very predictable two questions of morality, which kinda ruins the movie.

Ah, long-haired Meg. For me she was never more amazing than in French Kiss (she was shot perfectly, her character was intelligent, smart, articulate, observant, not a push-over damsel in distress).
BTW, fun fact: Tom's buddy in Seattle is Rob Reiner, who directed him and Meg in When Harry Met Sally, and would go on to direct The Princess Bride and The Sure Thing (a personal gem that surprised a lot of people and critics when it came out. Hope you try that one as well).
Norman Jewison's Moonstruck is still the over-all gold standard for rom-coms. Please try it if you haven't already, Natalie.
I never worried for Pullman because he ended up with someone just as wonderful (While You Were Sleeping, which still holds up beautifully).

Also “While You Were Sleeping” with Bill Pullman and Sandra Bullock. Definitely a classic holiday movie.

There was a ton of renewed interest in An Affair to Remember after this movie came out. Many people, including me, were watching it for the first time in the early 90s because of all the references in this movie. I got to the end and had the exact emotional response as Rita Wilson.

Sleepless in Seattle is a classic rom-com. If you're looking to continue down this road, you may want to consider Return To Me, which was written/directed by Bonnie Hunt. Underrated imo.

Sleepless in Seattle is one of my favorite movies, came out during a good point in my life and shortly after I went to Baltimore for the 1st time and it really felt like magic. It just really captures that point in time I'll never forget so makes me feel nostalgic. The soundtrack just tied it together wonderfully.

In the '90s, before watching my video tape of "Sleepless in Seattle" I used to watch clips from "The Lou Gehrig Story" (Luckiest man speech), "The Dirty Dozen" (big fight scene near the end) and "An Affair to Remember" (legs under blanket scene), as well as watching "While You Were Sleeping" afterwards.

Happy New Year and NYE, Nat Oh, and from my cat, too, she just sauntered in!
I saw SiS once a long time ago and liked it. I tend to cherish the movie romances that you find where you're not expecting them - that is, the ones that pop up unexpectedly in other kinds of movies...comedies, adventure, horror, etc. Not the obligatory, tacked on romances, but the ones with genuine chemistry, heart, and thought where you end up thinking, "nobody told me that was supposed to be a romance!" I'd name a few, but then you might not have seen them yet and that would spoil them.

Sleepless hits me on different levels.
    - Love Nora Ephron as a writer and her movies are very literary. I love her beats and references.
    - Being location centric, the location shots hit me on personal levels. I grew up in Chicago, so I know the cemetary and downtown offices (the Standard Oil building). Midtown New York, my mom's happy stomping grounds and the last time I was on the observation deck of Empire State was with my mom. And the Lake Union houseboats was partly why I decided to now live here in Seattle.
    - Sleepless is one of the trilogy of Ephron movies that I so loved I bought full DVD copies. Sleepless, When Harry Met Sally and Youve Got Mail (I worked for AOL).
    - The references to Affair to Remember and Shop Around the Corner caused me to go watch them.
    Nora made magic.
That reminds me, I gotta watch Julie & Julia.

This was the only movie, ever, that I watched 3 times in the movie theater. The first time I was there, there were like a dozen people watching it. The 2nd time, the room was half full. The 3rd time, it was filled to the brim. Word of mouth, I guess. Still one of my favorite movies of all time.
