It's very hard that if you use it as a melee weapon, you can hit someone in the head until dead with blood all over your hand, but that's the story when you haven't unpack it. Because once you unpack it, it still hard but not as hard as when it still packed
Vietnam Army dry ration is so hard that, when I received one pack of them, I smacked it like hell on the ground, and goddamn it, it's still intact! But I like that ration btw because it's a lot easier to eat than this Chinese ration, and you don't have to consume a lot. One pack contain 2 bars, eat one pack and drink so,e water and you're ready to go
One of my friends is a PLA veteran, he says PLA relies on field kitchen most rather than MRE. MRE is only the last resort to supply food to soldiers, Which possibly explains why PLA's MRE is not tasty.
And this isn't even a real PLA MRE, I think is made from a company that sells to civilians

@@mr.powell8817 But PLA's canned food is FANTASTIC. I have stored more than 100 pieces at home, delicious and at a reasonable price (usually cheaper than equivalent meat you can get from local market:)
This isn't their MRE equivalent though, this is equivalent to a first strike ration. This would be used in situations where a field kitchen is impossible, so they created this knowing full well that it would be their front lines only form of sustenance, and to think that's a good idea in this context would make you deeply stupid.
The US doesn't rely on its MREs usually either, we have an entire logistical train for building field kitchens and cycling soldiers from patrols back to forward operating bases on a regular basis where they will typically eat food cooked on site by the mess staff. The MRE is for troops in combat zones or extended deployment away from forward operating bases where they can't freely move without expecting to be ambushed or fired upon when out of positions.

That's why I clicked on this video first and not the Canadian one. I was hoping for a repeat of that, um... experience. It was pretty awful, but not green pork awful.
That ration was expired the one he reviewed. This ration is a far better ration compared to the Type 13s. I even commented on that video saying that China has far better menus and rations then that. The one thing that is interesting is the malt I didn't know the Chinese liked malt. Kinda goes with there pallet because in terms of sweets. China isn't super big on sweet foods. They have them in there food culture. But it's not as big as let's say Japan or south Korea or the Vietnamese.

The Chinese knows what’s the most important thing about supplies are from WW2 and the Korean War. When supplies route are cut off by the enemy, the best ration is something easy to store, carry, easy to eat like those bars instead of self heating pastas.

Try Aussie MRE's, some of the dutch MRE's, UAE's MRE, oof Estonia has some good bloody rations. A lot of British STANDARD MRE's are pretty good because it's just what you'd find in Tesco. Mike Jeavons did a week on rations where he tried the UK MRE for the first day, yum. Search up a vid on the Aussie CR1M (might have written that wrong, sorry).
The PLA MRE is trash, the Russian MRE's are... interesting and the USA MRE's are so exceedingly mid, soldiers abandon them on the field, which they did in Afghanistan. The best US MRE's are ironically enough the halal MRE's because those have flavors catered towards Muslim groups. Key word there being it actually has some kind of flavor lol.

FSR in China is not meant for taste, otherwise I would recommend jerky for the meat and some oat bars and multivitamin chews to keep the soldiers on the go motivated.
@@MrAsaqe the US strike ration had BBQ pork Tacos, Garlic Chicken and Desserts. The Chinese first strike ration has Bar. They might as well have packed them "Grunt Chow" brand Kibbles and bits
I cant say with MRE's specifically but the communist SOP is to make limited numbers of cutting edge, often prototype equipment that's comparable to the west or better while giving the majority or all of their men B or C list crap. The Soviets (and Russians who inherited the same structure) do the same and often had some great equipment that mainly just made it into the hands of the military units meant for showing off but never really made it to the front lines. When western countries update something it becomes widespread quickly but in communist countries they'll still be using stuff that's kind of been discontinued for decades. Doesnt help that they often have 2 completely different production lines for domestic vs export markets to prevent the west from learning about their true specs and to keep the best for themselves.
