Graham, another great review! Similar to you, I'm also a fan of all things Walther, and have been looking at a subcompact that higher capacity than my PPS M2 (but with the same Walther PPQ trigger), so this model fits me PERFECTLY! I'm waiting for the PPQ SC LE model (night sights, and 3 magazines for only $30 more than the PPQ SC). Well done. JC
Love my PPQ, excellent shooter very accurate. And I'm a lefty so its been a blessing with the slide controls. Been considering buying a VP9sk for carry...now I see this. I'm torn
I'm still hoping that they may do a run with paddles as they eventually did with the 5" PPQ. I'm a little confused on the compatibility of the SC with full size PPQ M2 magazines. Some videos are saying that the SC has proprietary magazines. That sounds crazy, especially considering the P99c could take full size mags.
trident 731 the compact doesn't have it why would you think this would have it? The US msrket is more into the side push button. That's why Walther switch to it with the M2.
The Walther rep at Shot Show this year said that they went to the internal extractor because they can produce more of them faster. That's code name for "cheaper/more efficient." Internal extractors came out before external ones, so if they were better, surely they would have been using them all along which tells me there is a downside to internal extractors. I prefer the P99c.
Looks great, and I'm sure it will be a huge seller for them. I too wish they would have kept the paddle release but I realize our market is more used to the button release. Good stuff brother!
I'm not sold on everything Glock, but iI have been carrying a G26 for about 8 years and the great thing is that when I shoot it along side my G19, it is just as easy to shoot and recoil impulse is virtually the same. I also have the option of 10, 15, 17, or 33 rounds magazines. It is not any harder to conceal then any other 9mm sub-compact (not including micro 9's). If I had to pick one firearm for CCW, I'd take the G26 over anything else on the market. That being said, I say buy them all. What's life without choices. Plus, this is America after all.
the PPQ sc looks too much like a Glock. i.e. the spring, the barrel , the take down, the trigger bar, the striker safety, even the trigger on the outside with the safety blade looks the same. I'd rather buy a Glock.
Would’ve been nice seeing this compared to the PPS M2 would make more sense interesting.I love the P 99AS one of my favorite guns also but I did not like the compact model basically the same gun with smaller grip.
Not sure what the long reset ramp on the underside of the slide between the barrel breech and the striker arm is called, but it's significantly narrower than on the other PPQs. May be a weight saving thing that goes along with the plastic insert, but interesting that a wear part is that narrow. -
I bought the PPQ SC LE Law enforcement version..has glow in darknsights..same set up of spare mags..15rnd+1fullwith extendor, 10rnd +1with pinky swell 10rnd +! No pinky swell. The trigger is awesome..just like its pappa..same gun as the PPQ except a 3' length as opposed to 4'in full PPQ The mags dont fit super snug..but does spit them out when asked. Its a genuinely Beautiful weapom..they fit the had like gloves. Given this weapon is a good ankle backup The assesory rail will fit a good light and the wather lazer which is so good...it has two redlights that when slid on and lock in place lightnup trigger well so you caan see it easily. Walther makes a great weapon..if tour getting the PPQ. SC..spend the ezmxtra few bucks and get the LE law enforcement version. It has a few differences like glow in dark forward sights and extra 10 rnd mag for three in total. The only thing better is a PPQ 007 style but i wanted a 9mm sub compact as i have allot of ammo in this a capacity
It's actually slightly different than the PPQ in design as we show in this video. Walther did some creative things to reduce slide mass which makes it cycle incredibly quickly.
Great vid. The only thing u should do differently is try cleaeing the mag with the slide locked back because its more likely to need to come out at that point. If the slide isnt locked back its usually because the mag isnt empty so trt either with a bullet or snap cap in the mag and/or with the slide locked back, all u achieve the way u are testing that now is seeing if the mag follower can reach the slide. Not trying to be a troll i think itd be better info testing the suggested ways. Thanks for the early vid keep up the good work!!
I had the ppQsc...couldnt get rid of it quick enough! Hated the light trigger, and the mags move when firing, the 15 round mag pitches my ring finger....not for me
It's everything and more a Glock 26 should be out of the box. I use mine with a 15 round magazine for bedside with an olight. I found one gently used for $350 le model in this market I couldn't ask for more. I prefer a longer barrel but the 15 round mag was a seller for beside. I have pocket carried it with the 10 rounder.
Looks like the grip is tiny vs the slide dimensions though I’d like to see it in person. The fact that the old PPQ mags don’t work in it is a huge miss.
Graham Baates right and I saw the article. Excellent job. Still seems like they don’t natively work. Not a big deal but in this day and age, you’d think manufacturers would catch on to the idea of interchangeable mags.
I bought a walther ppq sc last week. Cleaned it and took it shooting. I like the 15 round mag. I like it so much i picked up two more 15 rounders. The gun came in the box with 1 ten rounder and 1 fifteen rounder. Anyway i took it shooting today. Wow what a beauty. I now have another kick ass gun that is now in the rotation. The trigger is unreal. I have a cz p10c and until today i didn't think there was another gun that would ever come close to that cz trigger Thr only thing im going to change are the sights. They remind me of glock sights. Lol..... thinking about getting some true glow sights. Not sire they will fit. Any suggestions? .
I know this is a little late. Can you tell me what magazine spring I need to upgrade to to use standard PPQ magazines in the PPQ SC? I’m in Ny and want ten round mags for it tall enough to use the sleeve.
Thanks Graham! You are the man with the Walther hookup! I've been waiting for a really long time for this.. A little disappointed that there's no paddle option, but I figured that might happen. I find it curious that the slide endcap is now held in with a roll pin, and the SC now features what appears to be a modular internal extractor & breech a la Creed. Another cost-savings measure? All told though it looks like it will be a great shooter. One question: Does the SC come with a pinky extension flush mag on the production guns?
Yeah Walther really should have released this version years ago. The design was self-evident, essentially being identical to the P99c in dimensions. Now they are competing with the P365 and the rumored button version of the VP9 SK. I'll probably have to get both the Sig and the Walther. They are both really cool looking!
It's bigger, same capacity, doesn't have night sights, and costs more. So awesome. I guess if you didn't like the G26, old M&P Compact, FNS Compact, Ruger American Compact, VP9SK, all of them from 20 to 1 years old, this fits right in.
Confused by your comments??? Sig P365- Height= 4.3", Length= 5.8"., Width 1,0" Walther PPQ SC- Height= 4.4", Length= 5.4"., Width 1.3". Both seem pretty darn close in size. Is .1" of Height and .3" of width more than .4" of length??? I am looking at both, so don't have a preference as I haven't shot either one.
I own two of the Walther P99 Gen one's in 9mm and they're perfect for me no need to collect any of the others once you find one model or brand that fits your hand like a glove it's difficult to collect any others !!!! Bond James Bond !!! I might pick up one of the P99 AS model Gen 2 someday !!!
Walther is getting lazy! They should offered the sc with an optics package!!! It would have put them on top of every gun manufacturer in today's market!

Been considering buying a VP9sk for carry...now I see this. I'm torn
I'd get the SK if your a lefty tbh better controls that's just my opinion however
Just what I’ve been waiting for. Thanks for showing the size comparison to PPS.
I wish they had kept with the paddle mag release.

trident 731 the compact doesn't have it why would you think this would have it? The US msrket is more into the side push button. That's why Walther switch to it with the M2.
+The Triggerati the others are wrong. I worked with Walther on mine. See my AmmoLand article on it
Me too. That's what makes me turn to HK
trident 731 yeah me too,

a year late but great concise review. I am also a Walther fan (pps le and James Bond PPk which I have owned for 30 yrs)
We've got a lot of Walther videos
Sam Winston James love my PPK. It’s become a safe queen. It was my backup weapon when I was on the road
Looks great, and I'm sure it will be a huge seller for them. I too wish they would have kept the paddle release but I realize our market is more used to the button release. Good stuff brother!
Have a full sized ppq. But, I went with HK VP9SK this time...love it. This Walther came in a close 2nd though.
I want this and the VP9SK, thanks for the great review.
Telling the Truth The SK is one nice compact...Love mine.
While this is nice, I think I'll get the p99C for the paddle release if nothing else.
Austin Horn Yep...good deals to be had on them...and safer carry trigger.

You must be new to handguns
Would’ve been nice seeing this compared to the PPS M2 would make more sense interesting.I love the P 99AS one of my favorite guns also but I did not like the compact model basically the same gun with smaller grip.
Internal extractor, and the roll pin in the rear of the slide holding in the plastic parts.
Not sure what the long reset ramp on the underside of the slide between the barrel breech and the striker arm is called, but it's significantly narrower than on the other PPQs. May be a weight saving thing that goes along with the plastic insert, but interesting that a wear part is that narrow.

Great video. Glad somebody is getting into the details on Walthers
+Greg Mason always! Thank you
Another firearm to add to my list. Thanks.
I bought the PPQ SC LE

I have a p99c but now also want to get the full size one too. But torn because I also want a ppQ and a pps. You can't just own one.
I had the ppQsc...couldnt get rid of it quick enough! Hated the light trigger, and the mags move when firing, the 15 round mag pitches my ring finger....not for me
There is not enough size difference for me so will stick with my standard PPQ with the 15 +1 mag
I know you like the P99 was at a local gun shop on Sunday they were have a P99 special sale mostly 40SW but some 9mm. Thought about you .
Would be instant buy if they had a 12 rd mag.
Vandoeun Long Right, I'd prefer 2 and half fingers over 1 and a half fingers on the grip.
Looks like the grip is tiny vs the slide dimensions though I’d like to see it in person. The fact that the old PPQ mags don’t work in it is a huge miss.
They do work, but you'll need a sleeve and a spring is highly recommended.
Graham Baates as always the review was great, but I think I’m out on the SC.
I really need to get one to find out if I like it. In the meantime I might pick up one of these dirt cheap P99c's that are going on sale now.
+KSGunGuy they do work, it's covered in the article on AmmoLand
Graham Baates right and I saw the article. Excellent job. Still seems like they don’t natively work. Not a big deal but in this day and age, you’d think manufacturers would catch on to the idea of interchangeable mags.
0:09 Which holster is that?
Does yours have a burr that has been sanded smooth where the trigger guard meets the grip?
Accidental mag release will be common place until they introduce paddle release.
Want. Now.
Cool new handgun for sure, definitely excited to see a shooting review!
+Max Hayward check my article on AmmoLand for the shooting portion
Graham Baates How do I get to your shooting review on ammoland? I've seen you mention that you post over there but I've never seen it. Thanks
+Max Hayward hard for me to do from the phone, but it's on AmmoLand.com, then go to the gin reviews section
Graham Baates okay I will find it and check it out. Thank you very much
+Max Hayward no problem. If I weren't currently at SHOT is be able to give you the link
Agreed Im Walther all the way.
Mine never came with a target=(
I want a PPQ in my collection. I would rather have the larger one. Do you recommend the 4 inch or 5 inch barrel version ?
I bought a walther ppq sc last week. Cleaned it and took it shooting. I like the 15 round mag. I like it so much i picked up two more 15 rounders. The gun came in the box with 1 ten rounder and 1 fifteen rounder. Anyway i took it shooting today. Wow what a beauty. I now have another kick ass gun that is now in the rotation.

Thr only thing im going to change are the sights. They remind me of glock sights. Lol..... thinking about getting some true glow sights. Not sire they will fit. Any suggestions? .
Sights are a personal preference. I'm not sure on fitment.
@Oz Oz when you say le does the le come with night sights? If so what kind? Thanks....
Very important detail left out: Are the mags compatible with its big brother?! If not , why not??
That was covered in the article this video was created for.
I know this is a little late. Can you tell me what magazine spring I need to upgrade to to use standard PPQ magazines in the PPQ SC? I’m in Ny and want ten round mags for it tall enough to use the sleeve.
Sorry I don't know, have you tried contacting Walther?
No I haven’t. I thought I heard you warning people about the springs since the SC cycles faster. Thanks for responding though. I appreciate it.
Thanks Graham! You are the man with the Walther hookup! I've been waiting for a really long time for this.. A little disappointed that there's no paddle option, but I figured that might happen. One question: Does the SC come with a pinky extension flush mag on the production guns?
The Triggerati me too bro I've been waiting for them to make the compact! So excited :) n thanks for the video Graham
+The Triggerati there are a few mag options. See my article on AmmoLand
I need it !!!
Can you put the Trijicon HD sights on this gun, and if so how does the rear sight come off. ?
The answer to my question is NO they will not work, Says the Trijicon Tech.
WOW! This gun looks GREAT! I wonder how it will stack up against the new Sig P365?
Yeah Walther really should have released this version years ago. The design was self-evident, essentially being identical to the P99c in dimensions. Rick Sizemore I have a Nano right now and want to upgrade to either the p365 or the ppq sc.
+Rick Sizemore don't forget the P99C that has been out for years
Confused by your comments??? Sig P365- Height= 4.3", Length= 5.8"., Width 1,0" Walther PPQ SC- Height= 4.4", Length= 5.4"., Width 1.3". Both seem pretty darn close in size. I agree!
