Thank you for telling this story. I am so happy to hear about the new memorial that overlooks my hometown. My parents talked about the tragic loss of the Wilhide brothers in WWII which seemed unimaginable. I did not know that they died in the last few months of the war. I remember Mr. Wilhide frequently driving his tractor through the main street of the town, and I was always reminded of the family's sacrifice for their country.

That new memorial made my day. Really interesting how it’s dedication coincided with the making of this video. Some times the pieces just come together!

I am so very sorry for your loss Ben! Thinking of you and your family while watching this video I became a little overwhelmed with emotion. That and the fact several of my family members are very ill with Covid right now caused me to have to pause it for a while. I know of no better story teller than you my friend! As far as I'm concerned you are right up there with the late Ray Hicks. I'm sure you know who he was. Praying for comfort for you and your family.

I'm only half way through the video and I can already tell its gonna be a good one (they all are), but I just wanted to go ahead and comment on the recent loss of your Dad. Like I mentioned over on FB I went through this in 2016 and it was one of the toughest things I've ever experienced. He was my Dad and my best friend. I guess what I'm getting at is that I know how it feels to have that dark cloud following you around after the loss of such a significant loved one. As you already know, Its really tough at first, but it does get easier as time passes. Your Dad lives on in you, your memories and even your stories and videos. Being a Preacher yourself, you also have faith that you'll see him again someday. In the mean time, we'll be keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

I really appreciate that encouragement bud. He’s not been gone long enough for it to sink in, but I did catch myself going for my phone to call and tell him something. That stung. Great peace in knowing where he is and that this goodbye is not a permanent one. Appreciate you reaching out!

Condolences to you and your family...The loss of any parent is hard. Lost my Dad 11 years ago who was at Normandy on D Day, North Africa and Hiroshima...and he died on June 6th. So many memories and triggers that bring back those memories. I just hope that those memories transfer to the generations that follow us.

My son and his wife live in the boyhood home of the Wilhides. He was going through the attic and found an old, broken, balsa wood airplane model. No doubt, it was constructed by one of the boys and lost to the dusty attic corner. Being a pilot myself, I think it would be fitting to reassemble the old toy in their honor.

Those two brothers were around the same age as my uncles. One served in the army and had to go to Hiroshima right after it was bombed. Sad reminder of how families would lose not one but sometimes two or three. My uncle lived to be 90. Lovely and heartbreaking story..

Just got done with your introduction. Stopped watching...just to say, "I'm sorry for your loss." My father is 98 years old...and going strong...but there is no doubt his days are numbered. So, obviously, when you mentioned your dad's passing...I projected my own feelings about the future loss of my father. It will be a sad day...and it makes me want to offer my condolences. As a pastor and a believer...I know the Bible says we do not suffer loss as those without hope. But even with that, we do suffer the loss of companionship. May God bless and keep you until you get to see your pop again. My prayers are with you...
