  • Five cylinders on a budget? The C70 is a worthy alternative to the Mercedes CLK, or if you're just after a more comfortable Saab. This one is the base 2.4-litre naturally aspirated 20v 5-pot with the manual gearbox. I mistakenly thought it was the turbo... and then tried to pretend it wasn't so slow! Good performance for what it was though.
We push the car to the limit, cover the performance, handling, braking, as well as the design, interior details and anything else that appeals to the driving enthusiast. Why not watch another? • Car Reviews
From full-on road tests of driver's cars to immersive tours of where to drive them. Espuela Grande is a place for proper driving, great scenery, and (hopefully) interesting details.

I had a 98 2.3 HPT black coupe Auto with the dark Gray interior and the upgraded 18’ BBS Triton wheels and the Dolby Pro Logic 2 stereo. To this day I’ve never had or heard a better sounding factory system in a car. Even the 96 Volvo 960 I had when I was 17 had a killer system. Volvo knew what they were doing when it came to car audio. I wish I still had my C70 especially since it was a 98 and had every option that could be had on it. The worst thing about those cars was the window regulators going out and at that time there was no work around to fix them and they cost about 7-800$ a piece and it was pretty much a guarantee they would fail. Maintenance started to pop up more frequently and they were not cheap cars to fix or work on back then. I ended up getting T boned in it and it was totaled but I kept all of the extras I had for it like the honeycomb grille, ski racks etc. That was in 2010 when it bit the big one and I have yet to find one with all the upgrades that mine had and it would have to have for me to get another one. My only gripe was the FWD. Should’ve been AWD but it wasn’t to be. Well I take that back there are two guys who have AWD MK1 C70’s and they used the S70R AWD frame with lots of custom fab work but they’re bad ass. I think one guy has around 600hp to the wheels and the other is in the upper 400’s as well. They might still have some videos on TH-cam playing around in the snow as I think one is in Sweden and the other is in Russia or possibly Norway.... oh well enough of me ranting. They were super sharp underrated not very known cars that had its own style.

All of the C70's sold in USA had a turbocharged 5 cylinder gas engine, either a low or high pressure turbo.

The thing in C70 2.4t manual is that it isnt that fast 0-100kmh but after 100kmh when you put in 3rd gear you can keep up with 2017 Focus St with 280hp surprisinginly good! I bought My 2.4t manual Coupe and I was told its completely stock... Well I changed the turbo and stock 2.4t engine's turbo didnt fit there so I ordered the one that fits on 2.3l T5 engine and it fit perfectly. Something has been done to that engine but I just dont know what🤔 it is working like a new but its on par with BMW E92 330i whic has 270hp🤣
