Please join me in a moment of silence for the loss of an excellent, if short lived, custom handmade lure. No worries, we achieved the goal of the experiment. We showed that you can scale up a lure that works well. The next step is to carve a new one to use as a master for a mold...then: WE MAKE DOZENS!!!
How about the casting distance? I'm having trouble with My 1 Oz minnow with a lip ,my casts do nota reach 40 mtrs. is it a way to make them cast farther without a weight transfer system? Btw great channel
I used to make wooden toys for my grandkids. I live close to a furniture co. And they throw all kinds of small scraps of hardwood. Maple walnut oak just small pieces which would be ideal for something like that. These are awesome lures that you make. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of them with us. We value the time that you spend making your videos. We are anglers too love the sport. Thank you.
It sucks to lose a lure. Especially one you make yourself. Build another with a rattle chamber. Excellent video! Love Friday mornings because of your channel.
This was one of my favorite episodes. From the lure build, derogatory catfish comments, loosing the lure, and the bloopers at the end, thoroughly enjoyable. Fantastic paint job.
When you were testing the lure I was thinking to myself I wonder if he ever lost one while doing that. And sure enough not even a minute later… man that sucks. But the action looked great, you nailed it, definitely worth a rebuild. I recommend the Tactical Angler power clip, pretty sure they make a 25lb clip which should be small and light enough not to hinder lure action.
What a shame about the clip failure! I'm so sorry. But as you reported, this twitch-bait had truly marvelous action and is CLEARLY worth making again. As in right away and in a quantity of at least a half-dozen! Keep the faith, Chris
If the lure sinks a rod recovery trick might work? Every boat should have one of these anyway. Take a chain stringer and open all the hooks where the fish would go, tie a strong cord to the other end which will remain closed. Toss it in a few times and you will find the rod. I've never tried to find a lure with it but if you tied some small rope to it to possibly snag a hook? I use a chalk line reel to hold my cord but a marker buoy will hold the cord also.
Hi Franco. Great work as always. Can you hear a high pitched whine in the video? It is very loud, during 2:40 on, but stopping and starting. Just thought you should know. Thanks for such expert help. Regards, Cam.
This week I'm actually fishing in North Bali trying out some of my recent lure builds so this build will have to wait until next week but I really want to give it a go.
Great lure , build and painting ! What is the need of poly acrylic coat just after painting? Also Is it safe to use the poly acrylic in an air brush and easy to clean
What types of heavy wood are the best for glide/jerk baits? I keep seeing Maple... I think you used Cherry in this one! Where do you get these types of wood hopefully somewhat cheap?
Trying to watch on the London tube , still struggling with the adverts at the minute hopefully some bandwidth will appear soon Thumbnail reminds me of smuttley dogs I have Good working baits for pike I gather you snapped off ..that sucks with any bait never mind one you just made Marling baits is pretty good at this sort of stuff Ive honestly gone and got the kayak out to get treasured lures back.. makes me lose sleep seriously 🙁 Internet back now Have a great weekend 🌞🌞
@@EngineeredAngler Thank you for replying, I have all my paints in my own squeeze bottles and I've used Gesso instead of the Titanium White! I'm now just getting bubbles in the cup of the Airbrush and no paint coming out! I've tried Isopropanol Alcohol but it's not made any difference! I've bought 99% Acetone but then thought that it would damage the O'rings! Thanks once again I appreciate the help, take care my friend 👍😷👍
Being in the south should you be talking smack about catfish? Isn't that prosecutable? Seriously though, what a kick in the gut. Losing a lure before you catch a fish on it is bad enough, never mind being one you spent time building and painting.

"Silence"
It's only over when you quit trying!
Amen
that type of snap has burned me a few times, too.
i now use the bass-pro-shops-interlock-snap and have not had one fail.

Thanks so much...it's easy to overlook the effort TH-cam creators put into their videos...I do it too. Thanks for the acknowledgement. Cheers.

Glad you enjoyed it...thanks.
if it's any consolation, Nate Marling does that all the time
I lost a Yo Zuri lure that caught lots of fish we could never find the same one again. It does suck to loose a lure especially one that works.
Love the bloopers
As always a great build. The perfect meat fisherman's lure. Do you still sell EA merchandise. If so where can I find it. Thanks for all you do
Bummer about the bait, really enjoyed the outtakes! The way that bait behaved was so multifaceted, super design!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Franco another great build. That sucks that you lost the lure. I know the feeling, happened to me this past week. Keep up the great content.
Thanks

Well, now that I know that it scales up and works well, I'll shape another to use as a master for a mold.

Best show yet! Sorry you lost your lure though. Did you jump in after it?
Also, favorite line… “my plan is to, I don’t know what my plan is!” Lol

I will check it out...I think the lights are messing with the MIC. Thanks.
I would have had to go swimming. That was to nice of a lure to lose. Especially on the first trip.
Beautiful lure great job all the best 👍
My favorite type of bait! If anything I want it to shimmy on the fall in addition to all the other features. :)
Perhaps a jointed version is to come?
But I wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your videos and instruction,, keep them coming!
Maybe one day! And thanks you.
Great job sir!
Thank you! Cheers!
Loving the bigger lures 👍 gutted for you that you lost it, did you make a mold for it? Deffo worth making another one if not Franco 👍
Hi, I would just like to request if you can make a video using Googly Eyes a the Lure.
Thanks and Regards.
This week I'm actually fishing in North Bali trying out some of my recent lure builds so this build will have to wait until next week but I really want to give it a go.
Good luck!
is there a video of you making the smaller version? if not i would really love to see you making it again!
No...I designed the Fat-belly long before I started the channel.
@@EngineeredAngler oh well, thank you anyways :)
Great lure , build and painting !
What is the need of poly acrylic coat just after painting?
Also Is it safe to use the poly acrylic in an air brush and easy to clean
Yes and yes...it's water based. I use it to seal the paint and prep for the clear coat.
What types of heavy wood are the best for glide/jerk baits? I keep seeing Maple... I think you used Cherry in this one! Where do you get these types of wood hopefully somewhat cheap?
I'm lucky to get it from fallen trees near me.
I've had those fail with me, fortunately it was with a topwater, so I recovered it...great looking design!

Have a great weekend 🌞🌞
Thank you for using the down time to chat.
great video! have a great 4th, be safe out there
Thanks! You too!
👍 Great lure and video brah…..
Hi Edward 👋
Thanks bro...hope you had a relaxing time in the Caribbean.
Ever get a lure to just suspend? Seems like it either eventually floats or sinks.
Yes...I had a video of a lure I made perfectly suspended in the center of the test tank for over a minute. It's not worth the effort though, trust me.
@@EngineeredAngler 10-4...the water temp changes things too...
Would Acetone damage my airbrush if I cleaned it with it?
I use acetone when I need to clean oil based paints

You need to do a deep cleaning of the gun.
Switch to TA (tactical angler) clips thank me later
I'm going to enlarge a Rebel Fast back
Do you have a video of the making of the smaller version of this twitch bait
No...I made that lure long before I started the channel.
Same info I was looking for. Guess I'll just downsize this one! 😂😂😂
f... snaps, use splitrings!!! they dont open often, but when it happens it sucks... sry for that nice lure!!!
That sux....shuda maida mold?
Right!?
Why do you hate the Catfish? 😂
Why is catfish unfortunate? Really curious on that
It's a matter of wanting to catch the target species. I'm usually targeting insure game fish, speckled trout, red drum, flounder...etc.
@@EngineeredAngler I see. Just think of it as a bonus
What a great video ++
Thank you very much!
Sucks losing a lure, let alone one you've just built.
Really cool lure, shame about that clip
bummer just saw the end, yikes

I'm usually a bit less troubled about losing new lures but. this one was a bit of a gut punch.
