I wish I had a bike mechanic in Australia with that much passion. This guy isn't just a bike mechanic, he's a bike lover, - maybe i should ship my bike over, for some love. You deserve all the success of this channel.
This is why I went to bike mechanics school and got educated as a bike mechanic in Denmark! Thought I would be doing stuff like this but it was all about making money and getting as much bikes though the shop as possible! So I stopped when we got kids, maybe I’ll be able to get my own little bike repair shop at some point! This is what’s it’s all about! Great stuff, love it!
i am new to the channel so i am now watching all your videos that i have missed and i am so impressed by your craftsmanship and attention to detail. i enjoy servicing my bikes and i am learning some very useful information thank you
Please service the mavic free hub body, show aligning the derailleur hanger, and replacing the missing sleeve from the rear derailleur barrel adjuster with a ferrule with an integrated sleeve. Thanks for awesome videos. Everything else is spot on.
Brilliant service. VERY few bike shops in the USA would ever do this detailed a service. Shop employees are often not very skilled and not motivated. There are exceptions but I never have my bike serviced at a shop. I learned the hard way I was better off doing the work myself, cheaper and better.
This is the level of service I like to give my own bikes. They've got a great appreciation for the small details like grease on even the small bolts, torquing everything properly, cleaning small things like the derailleur pulleys. Great stuff, love their channel
It's great how these videos never get redundant. The density of information is so high, you usually always learn something new. Again, much appreciated.
Congratulations Bikespeeds. Ten Thousand subscribers!! Happy for the success of the channel. Enjoying every video you upload…Thanks for all your hard work.
Hi to you Mr voiceover! I am having so much fun watching your videos! The reason? your running commentary and the timelapse video and your commentary make your video so brilliant. The speed at which the video plays does mean that for me I don't have to sit for such a long time. It is almost like when people say"`Dude get to the point!" I just love it and I also appreciate that these videos are not easy to make and edit! BTW the time is 5:35pm and I have just subscribed. Hope that you have many more subscribers in the future.
Hi Squeezy Hugs. It’s Mr Voiceover Lee hear. That’s a lovely comment thank you. My Son Simons the one that makes the magic happen. He spends days each week, filming and editing these so it’s lovely to read a positive in his direction. Thanks for Subscribing! 🧡👍🏻⚙️
I love seeing these videos! Especially for new people getting into road biking! (Knowing what older bikes are worth buying to service and bring back to life to save some money and get a quality bike that's a little older)
If you are ever working on a Q&A video, I would like to hear about what your local weather conditions are and how this impacts the condition of the bikes and your maintenance approach. For example, rainy or seaside climates require a different approach than dry desert or muddy forest. Congrats on 10k!
This is the bike I have! Really great to see it being fully serviced and getting it back to its former glory hope the rider gets many more great rides out of it 😄
Big thumbs up from me again fantastic work as always congratulations on 10 k really happy to be part of this channel attention to detail is out of this world definitely job satisfaction keep it good bikespeeds see you next week 👍
Another great video, gents! What could someone use on their components if they don't have an ultra sonic cleaner? Watching your videos makes me want to do this type of Restoration on my own bike. Congrats on 10k! Quite the accomplishment!
Really, as long as the parts can sit for a spell in some warm water and degreaser, then get agitated with a detailing brush, they’ll come out pretty clean. Sonic cleaners really come in clutch with chains and cassettes, but again, the same method can work pretty well on those too.
Start with hot water and soap if you don't want to buy stuff. Brush, degreaser/aggressive soap when you have a little money to spare. For chains there are chain cleaners that you can use without taking your chain off - quicker but maybe less thorough, if you don't have masterlinks on your chain nand your chain is still good I'd give them a shot, 10€ or so.
Congrats on 10k!! You make by far the best bike servicing videos and have now inspired me into taking a level 2 mechanics course. Keep up the great work
Huge congratulations Lee and Simon on the 10k subscribers. Massive achievement and very well deserved 👏 The hard work and commitment is rightfully paying off. Quality videos each week that are thoroughly enjoyed 👍
Great channel and enjoy seeing the level of effort you go to - can really see your love of a getting a bike just right! Only thing is, car polish does not protect a surface it actually 'cuts' the finish as it is abrasive (a very fine one). That's why it is so good at getting dirt and marks off and leaving the surface shiny as it smooths/flattens it out. You need to put a wax or similar on after polishing to put a protective layer on.
These videos are just about the most satisfying thing I've watched on youtube! Do you ever clean and relive shift levers? I am curious how you would approach them 😊
10k subs nice. I really love the way you clean the bike the guy I use for my bike servicing wouldn't wash a bike down which I find odd but I normally have my bike spotless before I get it serviced anyway.
Congrats on 10k subs! Ive been a part of this channel since 500 subs and always enjoy the restoration videos! You are the reason for me starting my weekly torque check to make sure what should be tight is tight and what should be loose is loose :) helps me keep on top of things like that!
Love your videos, this one was hard to watch though, I feel the music was too loud. One of the best things of the chanel is listening to you talk about what you're doing to the bikes!!
sterling work, as ever. I'd really like to see what you would do with a bike that isn't in a bit of a state. I am sure you could feature a bike where the owner is already looking after their steed, at least somewhat. I think the extra bits you habitually do in your videos make an enormous difference between amateur mechanic and experienced professional 👊🏼
We do lots of little jobs on some very high end well looked after bikes, but they often don’t make for content that would work for our style on TH-cam. If you follow our Instagram account I often run these as a story.
Great video thank you very much for all your work and time. Lots of tips and tricks I am using for my bike. I was surprised to see you use copper slip for the head set bearings on the steerer tube vs. Grease? Any difference for that area that make copper slip a better lubricant? When would you use it vs. Grease? Thank you.
i pack the front brake access bolt hole with grease to try to keep out water and road dirt. i have often thought that this access should be capped by the manufacturer, with a plug
I recently found your channel and am watching every video now. I am extremely picky on who giving my bike (I am a relatively high level amateur) but I would love to give you my Tarmac SL7 for a full service and clean up. Sadly I live in Italy.
Congratulations on 10k subscribers, very well deserved! You mentioned that you swapped the bottle cage bolts for stainless steel ones. Where do you get the replacement bolts from? My bike could do with a few!
I get them locally. Look at your local industrial estates we have a nice little company in Lowestoft that supply exactly what I need in any quantity, so even if it’s an odd single item I can nip in and get it.
I don’t use T’Cut on Matt very often but the Autoaglym I do, my advice would be try it in an inconspicuous spot like under the bottom bracket first just to be certain it doesn’t change the finish of what you have.
A great video - very educational for someone looking to maintain their own bike(s). The green grease that is being used, does that have a commercial name: Top 2000?
Are there any bike shops you'd recommend this type of service in Chicago, IL? I have this exact bike and would love to get my Roubaix this attention to detail before the Chicago Triathlon!
great video...i have a Question.... should there be grease between the inside of the compression washer....and the outside of the steerer-tube....or should that be a dry fit so that the compression washer "grips" the steerer-tube? cheers
Man, I'm learning so much from binging these videos! It makes me want to buy an older vintage bike and rebuild it.
It’s very rewarding!
You should film customer reactions! I'd be over the moon if I ever got the chance to have my bike serviced by you.
I wish I had a bike mechanic in Australia with that much passion. This guy isn't just a bike mechanic, he's a bike lover, - maybe i should ship my bike over, for some love. You deserve all the success of this channel.
Thanks for the support🧡
Needs a 70mm deda plug. IYKYK
Often the case!
your attention to detail is absolutely remarkable, I learn something new with each video. Taking notes
Thanks Jav! Glad you enjoy the content 🧡⚙️

beautiful job. I love that you realign the tyre logos on the rims. Pure class
Thanks Jeremy🧡⚙️
i am new to the channel so i am now watching all your videos that i have missed and i am so impressed by your craftsmanship and attention to detail. i enjoy servicing my bikes and i am learning some very useful information
thank you
Cheers! 🧡⚙️
So relaxing to watch with a cup of coffee :)

Beautiful work, I just bought a 2010 Roubaix Comp and I’m going to try to emulate your level of service. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks for watching!🧡⚙️
I love what you guys do. It feels like restoring an old car. For cyclists of course.
We love our car TH-cam channels in our household we are car mad, so there’s been a little bit of inspiration there for sure!
10K subs 🎉😎 and another superb video 🙌😎
10k subs party! Thanks for always commenting and supporting Dean it’s the only we got to 10,000🧡🎉
@@Bikespeeds my pleasure guys, you do a fantastic job and I’ve picked up several ‘top tips’ from watching your channel 🙌🙌😎😎
This was beautifully done, love it.
Thank you!🧡
Great work as usual, the bike is also great, it may have some years on her but it is a light comfy machine that'll go even further now.
It's great how these videos never get redundant. The density of information is so high, you usually always learn something new. Again, much appreciated.
Thanks Rainer, we often say to ourselves we hope people don’t get bored of them lol!
Always satisfying to watch a bicycle properly refreshed. Thanks for these videos :)
Congratulations Bikespeeds. Ten Thousand subscribers!! Happy for the success of the channel. Enjoying every video you upload…Thanks for all your hard work.
Thanks Todd👍🏻

Congrats on 10k, really enjoy your content, keep it coming!
The point about the chain measuring tool would have saved me a lot - I finally bought one and it's cheap, easy to use and pays for itself easily.
One of the most underrated items for the cyclist for sure!
Merci!
Thanks for the Super Thanks Denis it goes a long way!
I love seeing these videos! Especially for new people getting into road biking! (Knowing what older bikes are worth buying to service and bring back to life to save some money and get a quality bike that's a little older)
My new Wednesday ritual, very relaxing and educational. Thank you for your good work gents.
Always learn something from your videos. Thanks
Lovely work your doing 👌
Thank you! We appreciate it🧡⚙️

For example, rainy or seaside climates require a different approach than dry desert or muddy forest. Congrats on 10k!
We are keeping a list of FAQ’s which we may do a video with at some point, so keep watching! 🧡👍🏻🚲
Brilliant video as always chaps! I was expecting a wink at the camera as you sipped the coffee 😉☕
I could watch these on repeat, I just need a t shirt to rep bikespeeds!
Thanks!
To our channels first ever SUPER THANKS, the Thanks is all ours! thank you very much Russ. Lee & Simon 🧡👍🏻
And another excellent video.
Wow, love the before and after on this bike. Keep up the good work. I’m going to find some copper slip now
This is the bike I have! Really great to see it being fully serviced and getting it back to its former glory hope the rider gets many more great rides out of it 😄
Enjoy your bike!
Your work is an inspiration!
again really satisfied to watch 👍🏽 keep it up
hello from Malaysia 🇲🇾
Congratulations on reaching 10k.
Thanks Trendy! Plenty of work finally brought us here🧡💪🏼
Big thumbs up from me again fantastic work as always congratulations on 10 k really happy to be part of this channel attention to detail is out of this world definitely job satisfaction keep it good bikespeeds see you next week 👍
Thanks for the kind words! See you next week🧡💪🏼
Beautiful as always! Once winter comes, I will have my Campagnolo levers sent out for rebuild and get the bar retaped.
Another great attention to detail episode. Keep the videos coming please. Onwards to 15000 +
Great video, thorough service. Love this channel, it’s very therapeutic!
Congratulations on reaching 10k.
It's nice to see how you take your time to make sure everything is done correctly.
Thanks Ralf!
Quickly became one of my favorite channels here. Beautiful attention to detail. Great job on the milestone.
Thanks Jeff.
well done on reaching 10K, I love watching these videos so keep them coming
Thanks Ewan!
Another great video, gents! What could someone use on their components if they don't have an ultra sonic cleaner? Watching your videos makes me want to do this type of Restoration on my own bike. Congrats on 10k! Quite the accomplishment!
An old toothbrush with degreaser works well.
Really, as long as the parts can sit for a spell in some warm water and degreaser, then get agitated with a detailing brush, they’ll come out pretty clean. Sonic cleaners really come in clutch with chains and cassettes, but again, the same method can work pretty well on those too.
For dirty chains, a good shake in a container of degreaser does a good job, even better with two rounds
Anodised parts don't like heat, so beware.
Great job !
Thanks Graeme!🧡
Congratulations on reaching 10k subscribers!
Nice job guys ! Pleasure to watch you bring these bikes back to better than new 👍
Thanks for supporting Brian🧡
Congrats on 10k!! You make by far the best bike servicing videos and have now inspired me into taking a level 2 mechanics course. Keep up the great work
That’s awesome to hear 🧡
Great video I will be bringing my bike in soon
Huge congratulations Lee and Simon on the 10k subscribers. Massive achievement and very well deserved 👏 The hard work and commitment is rightfully paying off. Quality videos each week that are thoroughly enjoyed 👍
Thanks Adam. 👍🏻🧡🚲
Intervals followed by bike speeds. Good day!
I just took my Motobecane vent noir in for some mice needed TLC at my local bike shop. I wish I don't live so far away, I would've taken it to you!
Very kind thank you!🧡
Congrats on 10K lads! Looking forward to seeing the channel grow!
Thanks Ivory!🧡
Congrats 10k u saved another great bike
Great video. Really enjoy watching your work!
Very satisfying to watch!
Thank you!🧡
Love these videos
Brilliant 🤩 🚴🏼

Lovely job again guys , congrats on the 10k
Great video. Would you ever do a video on recommended tools for the home mechanic?
We wouldn’t rule anything out, but at this stage we do what we do! Thanks for watching!
Great work as always and congratulations on the 10K!

We use copper grease for anti corrosion points, it’s extremely hard wearing to the weather 🧡
Congrats on 10k👌
Bike ASMR
Super job..
Thank you!🧡
Marvelous reviving job! One question: why did you wash the frame after you put the fork back. Would the water go into the headset and the bearings?
i pack the front brake access bolt hole with grease to try to keep out water and road dirt. i have often thought that this access should be capped by the manufacturer, with a plug
It’s a very common problem we see⚙️
Congratulations on the 10 k
Amazing job as always
2:21 I blame the manufacturer a little more r and d may eliminate this problem
How much is a restoration like that cost wise?nd how much time does it take ?honestly excellent job
I recently found your channel and am watching every video now. I am extremely picky on who giving my bike (I am a relatively high level amateur) but I would love to give you my Tarmac SL7 for a full service and clean up. Sadly I live in Italy.
Sound like you need a cycling holiday to the Sunny East Coast of the U.K.! Thanks for watching 👍🏻🧡🚲
Nice
Why don’t you use talcum power on your tubes make them go in smoother 👍👍👍🇬🇧
Congratulations on 10k subscribers, very well deserved! You mentioned that you swapped the bottle cage bolts for stainless steel ones. Where do you get the replacement bolts from? My bike could do with a few!
I get them locally. Look at your local industrial estates we have a nice little company in Lowestoft that supply exactly what I need in any quantity, so even if it’s an odd single item I can nip in and get it.
You know if I lived closer to your shop, I would never have to buy a new bike!
N+1 is not a bad thing 😂
What bar tape is that?
Loving the weekly vids. Can I use that polish on a bike with Matt finish?
I don’t use T’Cut on Matt very often but the Autoaglym I do, my advice would be try it in an inconspicuous spot like under the bottom bracket first just to be certain it doesn’t change the finish of what you have.
That was quick on getting 10k
A great video - very educational for someone looking to maintain their own bike(s). The green grease that is being used, does that have a commercial name: Top 2000?
This is our own formula! Available on our website www.bikespeeds.com/shop 🧡
Well done getting to 10, now onwards to 100k…
Wow. How does one find a shop that does this or request it? Do you ever buff the chainset?
I love this video.... I've learned alot of things watching your videos... I wanna know how much those cosmic Akysium wheels cost..
Glad you’re enjoying them, thanks very much for supporting us🧡⚙️
Are there any bike shops you'd recommend this type of service in Chicago, IL? I have this exact bike and would love to get my Roubaix this attention to detail before the Chicago Triathlon!
Make sure that crank isn’t delaminating!
We’re having loads of checks booked in with us!🧡
Nice vid
Thanks Ryan🧡⚙️
Please do Bottom bracket service videos. why use grease on chainring bolts, why not loctite?
great video...i have a Question.... should there be grease between the inside of the compression washer....and the outside of the steerer-tube....or should that be a dry fit so that the compression washer "grips" the steerer-tube? cheers
Dry fit🧡
