Lee! Thank you for doing such an excellent clean. I think I will put it on the wall now! I couldn’t risk getting it grubby again 😀 Would thoroughly recommend this service.
You've inspired me to do a full detail/rebuild on a very grimy 80s nishiki I have. It has some suntour components and stem mounted shift levers. Thank you for showing us what is possible!
I've always loved cycling,my first bike was an old beat up little frame my dad found discarded on the side of the road,he painted it put wheels on it and revived it for me (we were poor,I was 5 or 6) anyway I learn a lot from you and I love people with passion for what they do,and you're one of them people, thank you and you have a new subscriber, peace brother! 🙋♂️🕊👍💪🙏🙂
My first was dull brown, I walked to buy sand paper and paint because I didn't want anyone to see me riding a brown bike. I took it apart, sanded it down and painted it bright yellow then white handlebar tape. When I was old enough to work (at 12) from my first check I got a white Avocet saddle and it looked like a million dollar bike.
I just got an old school 90s Bianchi road bike this past summer, and will be giving it a full cleaning this winter. Your video has encouraged me to really deep clean all the hardware, thank you!
I had a second hand yellow Bianchi, very similar to this, about 10+ years ago, probably longer, but the headtube splayed out and I couldn't get the headset to seat properly, plus being a Bianchi it was quite a stretched geometry, so I let it go. It was a real mongral of Shimano and Campag parts! Not my doing, but watching this made me a bit nostalgic!
What degreaser fluid is in that ultrasonic machine? Does the stuff really come out like that…? (eg the front mech and the brakes were sooo dirty before!)
Beautiful bike and love the detailing. I appreciate that you should torque up the bolts but where do you get the information from. Is their like a web site you can get the settings from?. Thanks
I’m a Campagnolo fan, and they are really good at archiving their old manuals, so I get torque settings from their website. Modern mainstream frame makers will have torque setting in downloadable manuals as well. Old stuff, gets tricky. I was told the goal is to make sure it’s safely on without damaging anything. You use a torque wrench to make sure you’re not going overboard.
@@Bikespeeds Thank you for your reply. Again, your work is impressive. I can tell because I often do the same thing on bikes. But not with your level of expertise.
She's a beauty! I'd say that's a 2002 Eros. At best check out the serial number and if it's 'H2xxxxxx" it's a 2002 and the frame was build in the Hodaka facility in Taiwan.... final assembly done in Treviglio. Sold to Cycleurope UK (Bianchi England).
Loved watching the tidy up, but the crappy bar tape and handlebar angle was like fingernails down a blackboard. I totally get why you left it like that, but it detracted from what would have been a stunning result. Great work (again) though
As always, great job (and another nice wrist watch). Just don't understand how someone can ride a what used to be +1500-quid proper road bike with 5-quid plastic platform pedals instead of appropriate clip-in pedals. Wouldn't this be a good opportunity to sell such components?
Hi there, I've got a Bianchi ML3 and the aluminium on the frame have oxidised and some paint peeled off. How would you restore it ? Would patch spray painting be a good idea or just get rid of the oxidised part and polish with protection ?
It would be very much frame and corrosion specific. “Personally” I love patina so wouldn’t spray a frame, but that depends on the level of the restoration. I’d probably use a self etching primer and a touch up with a brush. If your not a professional or confident with a spray gun, spraying will always show.
@@Bikespeeds thanks for the suggestion. Gonna clean it up to check for any cracks first over this weekend. Hopefully there isn't so I can start working on it ☺️
I wonder how much labor would be required for such a service. I think it took a few hours for that. I also work at a bike shop, but I don't have time to do a detailed service like in this video and it would cost the customer a lot of money.
The majority of videos are genuine commercial jobs, this was no exception. Price sensibly and give a reasonable time frame allowing for other work. Keep up the good work & thanks for watching
El- I have my eye on a 2000 Eros right now in graphite. Super clean, all Campy. I'm curious on how much you sold yours for and how much the 2000 might be worth.
@@Mgrant8163 It's worth what you are willing to pay. Celeste color are in higher demand, which affects the price. $450 was the blue book for the bike that I had and I paid less than that. I sold it above blue book, the guy was so happy...it was in amazing condition. $350 to $650 I would say is the range for the color.

This is a strange version of bike. Group and components are from 2000 as you can see on the Campagnolo's labels and ergos. In 1998/1999 Mirage levers were made by aluminium.
