In May's special exhibition, "AN ABSTRACTED VIEW II: 100 YEARS OF NON-OBJECTIVE & ABSTRACT ART", we integrate the various abstract paintings created by contemporary artists working in the 21st century with several of the early pioneers or practitioners of non-objective painting, the precursor to what became popularly called "abstract". In viewing several contemporary works next to paintings and prints from the early/mid 20th century, we better understand the influences, the visual vocabularies, and personal vernaculars of these earlier artists, who laid the foundations for contemporary artists to continue to build upon today.
Featured Artists:
John Andro Avendano (b.1952); Derek David Baron (b.1967); Rudolf Bauer (1889-1953); Jane Burton (nd); Alexander Calder (1898-1976); Jimmy Ernst (1922-1984); Elena Erickson (nd); Gary Logan (b.1970); Robert McNown (b.1944); Robert Motherwell (1915-1991); Joan Miro (1893-1983); Walter Quirt (1902-1968); Rolph Scarlett (1889-1984); Oscar Van Young (1906-1991); Elise Wagner (b.1966); James Wills (b.1949)

Thank you. But just to be clear - this isn’t my personal collection, it’s part of the gallery’s programming, along with the Contemporary artists I represent. Although other works by several of these artists are in my personal collection as well.
my god - someone who knows the difference between non-objective and abstract art - you got my attention here!
LOL! Yes, and I make every effort in my gallery to explain the difference and how the terminology changed over the years to the point where “abstract” became the catch-all for anything non-representational. On the exhibition page for this show, found on the gallery’s website, is a short breakdown of these two genres and how the terminology’s devolution.
7.83 Hz - Schumann. lovely piece.
Thank you for clarifying the title.
yes, 100 long years - resulting in a famous urinal, cans of poop selling for 60K, 70 years of squares within squares and generally low low effort work, however not so much here - when the work is well framed, properly lit, installed in a pleasant environment etc - beauty can be found - i love it when i am genuinely surprised by modern art!

I don’t know what you wrote but thank you for viewing the exhibition.
Hasn't there been hundreds of years of abstract Muslim art all over the world and abstract art in cave art thousands of years old?
100 years in 15 minutes don't make me laugh
Nonsense.
100 years of dead canaries in the mine shaft of civilization lol
